Theresa was my hygienist and I hope to have her help me every time. She was awesome, downright surgical with that water cooled ultrasonic scaler. I sometimes forgot she was using that vs the hand pick method. That tool can be painful in the wrong hands but she did a first rate job and I could tell she really cared that the cleaning was done correctly. I had a dental hygiene and exam appointment today. The reception was very friendly with Covid-19 precautions. My hygienist today was Megan who was very helpful and familiar with my chart. She did an excellent painless job of the cleaning and explained thoroughly some problem areas and what was best in home care of my teeth. I first found out about Cloud Nine Dental while attending the Portland Women's Expo almost 2 years ago. I purchased one of their whitening treatments, but unfortunately I could not hang around to receive the service. So I ended up scheduling an in office visit for my treatment. When I arrived to Cloud Nine Dental all the staff I encountered was so kind, and friendly. At the time Dr. Ballard was the dentist I received my whitening treatment from. Come to find out my insurance through my employer was in network with Cloud Nine Dental. From that moment on I ended up becoming a patient of Cloud Nine Dental. Fast forward to last year in September; I ended up chipping the tooth that I already had a partial on. Of course the next business day I ended up having to come in for an emergency dental visit. To my surprise I was informed that Dr. Ballard ended up taking a position in Australia, and that Dr. Mike was the new owner. Of course I was already a little apprehensive knowing the procedure that I was going to have to get. After all was said and done everything turned out better than I had planned (and this was just for my temporary crown). Kudos to Dr. Mike!!! So I'll try and wrap this up. During the time I have my temp crown in; I am also working on my whitening treatments. It's best that I get the shade of my teeth to my desired color before they send the temp. crown out for what will be the permanent. I end up keeping my temp. crown in longer than what I should have; of course with time that is a lot of wear on something that was meant to be temporary. The tooth ends up becoming loose, and falls down the drain. Uggh...smh. I call the office on a Sunday, and leave a message. Of course the next business day (today) I get a call early in the morning returning my phone call. When I tell you the front desk staff is always on top of things; kudos to you ladies ;) I briefly explain what happened; and was scheduled for an appointment for today. My appointment is not until later today, but I could not resist the urge to write this review now; as it is way overdue. I cannot express enough gratitude that I have for Cloud Nine Dental; and all its staff! From day one I received exceptional customer service. Whether it's me coming in for a cleaning, needing a crown, an insurance question you name it there is nothing that this team can't tackle. This morning I was so elated that I could get in for an appointment, and just started thinking about all the care I have gotten thus far that I couldn't help but to cry tears of joy. I wouldn't go here unless you want to lose your tooth... My husband had a crown done by them and it kept falling out. He went back to them multiple times and they just kept cementing new crowns back on and charging him for every replacement crown. Well, the crown fell out again, and this time so did his tooth! Least painful cleaning I have ever had. I have hated every dentist since Yosh Kiokowa growing up. 1/2 my mouth done and they numbed the f out of me because I haven't been to a dentist in 9 years. So far, more than excellent. Hygienist remembered my vacation dates and flagged my next appointment date off the top of her head. Dentist was matter of fact and realistic about the work needed and the price ( which seems very reasonable for my many years of neglect .) He didn't start drilling immediately. I was sure I needed a couple old fillings replaced STAT, and he would dig in. I will update. I have veneers for enamel loss, some crowns, and assorted bondo work to be done. Free basic whitening for new customers. I'll have that done before veneer work. I'm not going for the intermediate or super white options because I will never follow through with the lifelong maintenance and my shiny veneers will look out of place. They were cool with that and didn't push the full package. Dentist was straight forward. My feelers were not hurt because I was expecting a far worse prognosis and the normal shaming you get from the d**kheads in lab coats. None of that. read more

I just had a wonderful experience as a new patient at Cloud Nine Dental. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt welcome and appreciated. It doesn't feel like a medical office; the decor and vibe are friendly and laid back. The staff, from the front desk to X-ray technician to hygienist, are warm and inviting. My family has recently moved to Oregon and it is always hard to find a good dentist. My husband scouted Dr. Ballard out first. My husband liked the entire office right off the bat, all very friendly. He also liked that nothing was pressured on him, just information and something to think about in the future, type of thing. Which was great. The following week I went in for a cleaning. NICEST hygienist EVER, Alene. Super sweet and informative, she warns you in advance that she is a talker, but that makes her thorough. Really clean office, played great music and I never had worn sun glasses at a dentist office to compensate for the bright light. Great idea, I enjoyed my dentist visit. One thing I was surprised with, was for such a nice office the bathroom door did not close properly and the faucet handle came off when I went to turn it on. I was super bummed when they switched clinics (thank goodness for the internet), today I had my routinely teeth cleaning. A smile wasn't enough and Dr Ballard cared about it. On a seperate google review I posted the rest of the letter that didn't fit here on the original (3/16/2017) Yelp review. I wrote that I had wanted to speak to Dr Ballard but wasn't sure if the message had been relayed to him. The google review was quickly answered by his marketing director. She said dr Ballard would call me that same night. He kept his promise and I was not very hopeful at first this was going to go well when he said he had heard "a bit" of what was going on. I didn't want to invest even more energy than I already had writing the reviews not to mention the energy invested when I tried to reach a resolution with Rose and Lisa. I was pleasantly pleased that he agreed with me and everything that I had to say. He asked me what would make me very happy and I said he had just accomplished that by respecting my time and me as a person and validating my concerns and owning the problem. I said, I just want for what was agreed on to still hold up and he did even better than that, he applied a courtesy adjustment of $50 to my true balance. He wasn't too concerned about the review; he said, what mattered to him was that his patients receive the best care and treatment at his office. I thanked him for taking a ton off my shoulders in that I didn't have to work any harder to prove my case. I was left feeling like he was very sincere. He stated that he welcomes the opportunity to improve and I thought not only are people going to get two great doctors at this office but they're going to be dealing with a business that bases their success on winning their clients' loyalty through trust as well as expert care. I wish they had been in network so that I can have all my services there. Since that isn't possible I will be sure to be recommending them to others. Dr Ballard did a filling on my tooth last week. I didn't even feel the shot! I was amaze how gentle he was through out the procedure. The filling he did on my front tooth matched perfectly with the rest of my teeth. My sensitivity to sweet is gone! Lisa (front desk) was able to arrange my cleaning same day. Dr. Drew Ballard's number one priority is making sure his patients are pain free and taken care of. Total professionalism and kindness from Dr. Drew and his staff. From beginning to end, I felt completely taken care of. My Experience: I ultimately needed an emergency root canal. I spent 1 whole week in terrible pain before I decided enough was enough. Being new to Portland, I didn't have a regular dentist yet. I called 7 different dental offices in the area, the only one who gave me the time of day was Dr. Ballard. He was out of town over the weekend meaning I'd have to wait 2 days until he could see me early that Monday morning. He didn't leave me in pain. He called in an RX, talked me through the options, the procedure, the pain, what to expect in costs etc. all while at a seminar in Phoenix! Dr. Ballard totally came to my rescue. He saw me first thing when he got back and I was out of pain by 8am that Monday morning. My partial root canal took an hour, felt zero pain! Dr. Ballard even applied a hot towel to my jaw and massaged afterward - he goes above and beyond to make sure you're as comfortable as possible. The staff is very accommodating - especially for emergency situations! They'll never turn down a person in pain. Looked for a solid place for veneers, the cost was a little over 10k so I ended up planning on seeing them, they sent me a letter to see if I still wanted to see them cause it had been a while (like 3 months) since I'd been there since I had surgery in New York... I called and said yes I did want to see them but they stated since it had been a while (due to my surgery and healing time, but contacted them within two weeks of receiving the letter of coming back) that they could no longer help me... so after mentioning they sent me a letter they worked out a plan with my orthodontist and another doctor that was going to Lazer my gums... LITERALLY LAST WEEK they told my orthodontist that they needed to get the right placement for the braces and then get them off, I'm literally like three months away from getting it finished (a month of healing after layered gums, a month after right placement and then veneers) and they sent me a letter yesterday stating to find another doctor AFTER JUST LAST WEEK coming with a plan! THE BIGGEST SLAP IN THE FACE AS A CUSTOMER and not even the balls to talk over the phone absolutely unprofessional. read more

Let me start off by saying I hate dentists, no I really do. When I was a child I had so many teeth removed. For 3 years I removed over a dozen teeth and was put under numerous times and never wanted to go back to a dentist ever. Alayna is amazing she is the one i hang out with the most when I am there and its like two friends just chit chatting about life. I always see Dr Drew and he always says hi.
