I am a textbook nervous patient and this whole team was so amazing to work with. Dr. Sherrard does a consult with new patients. It was the first time a dentist actually asked what he could do to help me feel less nervous. I did have to get a cavity filled, but it was the most painless (both physically and anxiety-wise) dental procedure I've ever experienced. I have a terrible needle phobia and this office has a special novocaine administrator that doesn't have a needle--well at least not a visible one and I didn't feel a thing. They also used a unique bite block/ suction tool. It looked scary and felt uncomfortable at fist, but it kept my mouth open the right amount and my tongue out of the way so I could zone out and not have to think about it while they worked. Next was my cleaning and I can't say enough good things about my hygienist named Loyal. She was so sweet and personable. It was the first time I've had a hygienist who was super gentle, but still really worked to get my teeth sparkling. Welcome to Patrick Sherrard mid-twentieth century dental. This dentist still takes x-rays the old fashioned way, no scary computers for him! Still full metal jacket, and endless implements shoved in your mouth. Sherrard's equipment is literally falling apart whilst he uses it, no water pressure, knobs falling off mid-procedure! This practice is not investing in anything new, the place is falling apart, very bad sign. Sherrard's dental work is questionable at best, as is his invoicing. My teeth were worse for meeting Sherrard, I had to pay thousands to have his mistakes corrected. I should have trusted my gut instincts. Don't believe the glowing reviews, they are lies, this place is a dump. There are far superior dentists with clean and modern offices, who use state-of-the-art equipment to keep you safe. Me and my wife visited Dr Sherrard's office for regular checkup and cleaning. I called in few weeks earlier to get a appointment for the checkup and scheduled a followup cleaning after. Me and my wife were originally scheduled on the same day with 1 hour gap, but the office gave a me call (a day later) that they were able move around the schedule of another patient somehow so that they can accomodate both me and my wife on a back to back appointments. Dr. Sherrard and his team have been awesome for the last few years I've been going. Unfortunately, I'll be moving out of state, and can't take them with me. You are kindly greeted by the front office manager, Drew. I look forward to getting my teeth cleaned 3x a year by Loyal, the hygienist. She is super fun and a great person to talk with (while you don't have tools in your mouth). She is gentle on your teeth, but gets the job done (e.g., plaque removal)! I have overall maintained great teeth, so Dr. Sherrard is pretty efficient in his checks after the cleanings, and he is also very friendly. I've had the same hygienist and dentist for maybe the last 15 years but we recently moved and I was in need of a cleaning so I read some yelp reviews and ultimately chose Dr. Sherrard's office. It was an excellent experience. Minimal wait in the lobby. A friendly dental assistant, Erica, brought me back and did my xrays and made sure I was comfotravel. Then Dr Sherrard came in and did the exam. He was gentle and friendly. He also did a filling for me and wow! I didn't even know he had numbed me until I was numb. I also got my teeth cleaned by Loyal and she was so friendly and thorough, I felt like I had made a friend after she was done. On the recommendation of a friend, I decided to go see Dr. Sherrard and decide for myself if he was as great as I had been told. To my delight, I wasn't disappointed at all! No one likes the dentist, at best people can deal with it. I actually LIKE going to my dentist. I always leave feeling well taken care of and I have zero anxiety in his chair before any dental work gets done. They work with me financially and are always patient and its just so easy going in there. I dont drive, and take a bus 45 minutes to get there, and its damn well worth it. My friend was a dental assistant and told me awful horror stories about dentist lying to do procedures to make an extra buck, not this guy. 100% trustworthy I would be baffled if anyone dared give this guy less than 5 stars. read more

My husband and I have been seeing Dr.Sherrard and his staff for 4 years now. My husband is not dental phobic, but I totally am. So much so that I have gone YEARS between cleanings... and have let small tooth aches turn into expensive fixes. I've had my teeth cleaned regularly since coming to Dr.Sherrard's office. Angel, the front office manger really is an angel at helping me as a pretty high anxiety patient. In the last two years I finally got my mouth "fixed up" by Dr.Sherrard- I've had a couple root canals, a crown, a couple fillings, and a wisdom tooth pulled. The staff is aces and Dr.Sherrard has been great at helping me make my mouth healthy again, all in his calm way. Admittedly the small script for Ativan has been a life saver for getting these problem teeth shored up. It isn't pain so much for me that I worry about, but the sounds of the equipment gives me a PTSD reaction... the Ativan makes me care a whole lot less. I even recently made it through a 20 minute quick filling appointment drug free... kinda a milestone really. I miss the old location with the cool rock garden out the window, but the new location (across fron Jesuit HS) has a nice bright waiting area and nicely decorated treatment rooms. I have avoided going to the dentist for almost 10 years because of bad experiences with former dentists. But, I broke a tooth and had to see a dentist. A friend referred me to Dr. Sherrard. Begrudgingly, I made an appointment and went in. To my surprise, I felt comfortable immediately. This is not your typical dentist office. The atmosphere was laid back and not super clinical. I was greeted by Angel. She's the kind of person that makes you feel like a friend, yet professional. She's very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to paperwork, insurance, etc. As soon as I was done with the necessary paperwork, I was escorted back to a room. No wait time. I met with Dr. Sherrard and he gave me a thorough exam. We then worked together to make a plan to fix my broken tooth as well as other teeth giving me issues. He put a temporary filling in and I scheduled my root canal. I was able to get an appointment very quickly to fix my tooth. So now the real test, a root canal. :/ Blind trust paid off! Dr. Sherrard is excellent at numbing the necessary areas with minimal pain and total accuracy. I didn't feel a thing. His work was high quality. He earned my trust for real. Since that appointment, I have been in twice. Once for a crown (which is done while you wait) and another for fillings. I've had the same great experiences every time. I can honestly say that I no longer fear the dentist. I feel empowered to take care of my teeth regularly. I highly recommend Dr. Sherrard. read more

So Tuesday night I broke a tooth. Now last year I had Willammette Dental. I loved my dentist and the gal with the needle but the lab work left me cold! Now I am extremely phobic about dentists and had not picked one for my new insurance yet so I search the insurance site for who, what, and where. I came to Yelp first to screen candidates and Dr Sherrard stood out from the pack. I called first thing Monday morning and the scheduled me for the next day. Very honest, very courteous and after almost a year after he did work on my tooth, I have absolutely no issues to report. I had first gone to a different guy near Bethany and he was hell bent on doing an implant on my bad root canal tooth. The cost was very steep and he just seemed to write off any other option. I was pregnant at the time, so apart from cost, the long treatment period was not acceptable I found Dr Sherrard on yelp and took a leap of faith. They did free consult at first and then referred me to an excellent dentist for redoing the root canal. He was able to determine that redoing the root canal has 99% success rate for me, saving me lot of trouble and money. After I came back to Dr Sherrard for getting the crown fixed. He was so thorough with it and it has been done excellently. The office staff is also very cheery and pleasant. Highly recommended. read more

Absolutely great experience! I needed to get my wisdom teeth out as part of Peace Corps medical clearance and had one week to do it. I got on the website and requested an appointment. I was given a call maybe an hour later asking me to come in for a consultation the next day. Drew worked with me to figure out the billing/insurance situation and made me feel super welcome immediately, even though I was a brand-new patient. They were also really helpful in getting me scheduled within my time-frame! The extractions were pretty rough, but that's because I'm almost 30 and my wisdom teeth had grown pretty large. Anyway, Dr. Sherrard and Tiffany were absolutely great and stuck it out with me until we finished. They kept me in good spirits the whole time and were very intuitive of my needs as a patient. This was yesterday -- this morning, I have very little soreness or pain. These folks were absolutely fantastic and my only regret is that I didn't know about them sooner. I hadn't been to the dentist in many years due to the fact that I was terrified of them.. After many years of enduring oral and dental pain I decided to look into taking care of my mouth and teeth like an adult. That's when I came across Dr. Sherrard online and thought I'd give it a shot. After my first consultation, many of my worries were out to rest as Dr. Sherrard and his staff were so very friendly and willing to work with me on a plan that would not only fit my schedule but in timely manner so the dental work that I'd neglected, would one taken care of.. My story is long, but it is true and I hope encouraging to anyone that has a dental fear such as mine. I wouldn't go to anyone else. I don't need to. I truly believe I found the best office in the World! I never thought it would happen, but it did! My fear of the dentist office has been vanquished. I have hated going to the dentist since I was a small child, even if just for a cleaning. If I had to have a filling or heaven forbid a tooth pulled I would put it off as long as possible and give the nightmares and cold sweats time to subside. It had been over a decade since my previous trip to the dentist. The only reason I went then is because the dentist was someone that I had played soccer with in high school and I trusted him. It wasn't bad, but I was in no hurry to get back. Recently, I went to see Dr. Sherrard. He came highly recommended and I was told it would be far from traumatic. I went reluctantly. I knew this time I was going to have to get some fillings. I had put them off since learning about them a decade ago. Horrible thoughts of that huge needle that barely fits in my mouth filled my mind... Ugh, I get shivers just thinking about it. When I went to his office the strangest thing happened. I entered the common hallway and the dental office aroma filled the air. It made me nauseous, but I had come this far, I knew I had to continue on. I was nervous as I opened the door to the office and stepped in. "What happened?" I thought to myself. I'm here but that dentist office smell isn't! It was very comfortable and refreshing. I was quickly at ease. The receptionist quelled my fears when I told her of my phobias and that huge needle. She assured me that the needle they used wasn't like that. She even told me a story of a 5 year old little girl who had been afraid and was surprised to learn that they had used it to numb her without her knowing. That blew my mind. Could it be that they could numb my mouth without me having to see the nightmare of a needle that haunted my past? I was doubtful but willing to try. I faced my fear, that was a challenge... now the staff had to deal with the challenge that I provided. I have a very sensitive gag reflex, ridiculously so. They were very patient with me. Bite tabs... uh oh, this was going to be a challenge. They were very calm and friendly and we were able to work though it. Calm and friendly was not what I had experience in the past. I lived through the x-rays and the cleaning. My fear was subsiding. Dr. Sherrard told me that I was going to need to have some fillings. And I was ok with that. His staff had earned my trust. When I came back for the fillings I was still curious about that needle. Fears still raced through my mind but the staff put me at ease. Dr. Sherrard was amazing. He did it! He numbed my mouth without that big horrific needle. I can't say that he did it without my knowing. I was aware of the needle going into my mouth, but there was no pain. That was unbelievable! I wish it was like this when I was 5! He fixed a couple of my teeth and I had no bad memories from this experience. In fact I was looking to going back to have the rest finished. Looking Forward to it! That had never happened in the past. I can honestly say that I have no fear of going to his office. Now I can say that going to see Dr. Sherrard and staff is no worse than going to get my hair cut. They really are amazing. I can't thank them enough for what they have done for me. read more
