Dr. Brooke Appelhans and her team were great. This clinic uses 3D modeling and machines/tools that I never had at my last dentist. I was loyal of 20+ years to my old dentist, but won't be going back! I had a second crown done with Dr. Appelhans and it was a pleasant experience (as much as it could be!). I had a lot of anxiety with my first crown at another dentist that left me very nervous. However, Dr. Appelhans and her team provided options to me for anxiety and made sure I was comfortable, even with a warm blanket! The chairs there also are heated and have massage options. I did have to call when my temporary crown fell off because I was chewing gum (whoops!) and Dr. Appelhans answered the after hours call by calling me back right away to help me (I was surprised I actually heard from her and not someone in her place). I came back for my permanent crown and it was easy and had a teeth cleaning also that day. Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend! Thank you Dr. Appelhans and team! read more

Caring Smiles is my new dentist and I have had the same dentist for 7 years, so it is not an easy transition to make. I have great teeth and take care of them well. My children are grown, so I don't have family dental needs. I DO however have concerns about aging and want to look and feel my best. I recently heard an interview with a beauty expert and heard that the #1 way you look older and "worn out" is with yellowed, worn or faded teeth and I realized how true that is. Cosmetics is as important for self esteem and being competitive in career as being knowledgeable and professionally dressed. I have veneers. Others may need implants. My point is you want fair prices, good service and a dentist and staff that is caring and open to your needs and goals. Love Dr. Roman, the staff is efficient and professional and (THIS IS IMPORTANT) the office is nice, but this is not a "factory" with a huge staff and overhead where they need lots of new patients at high prices to cover that expense...and out of the patient's pocketbook. I have been going to Caring Smiles for two years and yes, they do care about your teeth. I just had a molar removed and it went very well. The dentist took the time to work the tissue away from the base of the tooth and then gradually extracted it. They had me return a few days later to see if the gum was healing okay and it is. Dr. Roman is the best, period. He took excellent care of me during an emergency extraction during the early days of COVID and monitored my healing throughout the process. His dental staff is excellent, from a tightly-run front desk to hygienists who take their work seriously. Dr. Roman also took care of a problem for my husband that was caused by another practice. Visited Caring Smiles Dental today to set up cleanings for my 4 little kiddos. Cassity at the front desk was very helpful when I found out that my current insurance would be changing to a different provider in May. While I was setting my appointments, out of the corner of my eye I saw Dr. Kedy Shen talking with a mother and her 4 little children in the lobby. The people here really go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed, you can feel it when you walk into the office, it doesn't even feel like one. Super friendly staff which really helps for all of us who get nervous going to the dentist. Dr. Shen had me laughing through almost my whole visit which also helped. He did my cleaning, which I am no professional, but seemed fantastic. I had some things that needed to be done so I got set up with a treatment plan, but didn't feel intensely pressured into like you can at some dental offices. They are a pretty new office which is neat because they have all the new fancy dental stuff (I mean seriously a massage dental chair! Also an x-ray machine that spins around your head so you get to take fewer of those awful x-rays with stuff stuck in your mouth). The only tricky thing about them is their location. They are hidden upstairs with not a lot of signage, so give yourself a few extra minutes to find them. But there was plenty of parking. read more

Growing up, dental care was always a priority in our home. I went to the dentist twice a year, brushed regularly and thoroughly, and even tried to floss on occasion. While living overseas I got out of the habit and I never really got back into it -- until now. After visiting with Dr. Shen for my first exam and cleaning, I have a feeling I'll be more on top of my dental care going forward. He was thoughtful and engaged about treatment while still being personable and funny. He seems like the kind of guy you'd go grab a drink with (after waiting 30 minutes for the fluoride to finish setting) to talk about life or football. As for the cleaning and exam, both were extremely thorough, perhaps the best I've received in my 36 years. His chairside manner is only outdone by his understanding of his craft. In discussing treatments going forward, he was able to identify issues I've been having and offer reasoned suggestions for how to address them. Extremely pleased with Caring Smiles and Dr. Shen; I plan on returning there myself and bringing my family as well. As the father of a rambunctious kindergartener, I'm pleased that he is in partnership with another dentist who can do sedation and keep my kids from being afraid of having their teeth cleaned or repaired. read more

Beware! My husband attempted to have a dental implant procedure at this office. He had to go back and have things resutured as they began falling out the day after surgery. He had to have the bone graft revised by an oral surgeon. (Dr. Zechariah is not an oral surgeon, he is a general dentist). Like another reviewer, Dr. Zechariah's office told us that they had gotten their work preauthorized with our insurance company, they admitted later, they did NOT. Besides paying a large out of pocket to Caring Smiles, we ended up paying about $2000 out of pocket to the oral surgeon to correct the bone graft. Please do some research before choosing whom you allow to preform surgery on your mouth. read more

I needed a new dentist in my new neighborhood, and we were so fortunate to find out about Dr. Nguyen at Caring Smiles on SW. Barrows Rd.! From the minute I walked in until the minute I left I had the most pleasant experience! The receptionist, dental assistant, dental hygienist, and wonderful Dr. Nguyen were such a blessing to find! I have never been to a dentist who has a heated massage chair! I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Beaverton area! The office is absolutely beautiful. It was my son and daughter's first visit to Caring Smiles Dental in Beaverton. The dentist Dr Kedy couldn't have been nicer. My daughter enjoyed watching her favorite nature show while getting her teeth cleaned. My son was thrilled to find it that the dental chairs were heated and would also give him a nice massage. The best part was seeing the dental assistant talk with my little boy about his 3D imaging x-rays. He couldn't believe all the teeth he had. My kids left smiling! Great dental office. It was nice to not have her pressure me to have crown the tooth when I know I need it but didnt want to spend the money at this time. She told me she could just fill it. Was looking for a new dentist and found Dr. Parker at Caring Smiles Dental in Beaverton. I have periodontal disease and my other Doctor simply wanted to pull my teeth and give me implants. How great is it to leave the dentist's office in a better mood than when you came in??? Kauser (hope I spelled that right) at the front desk had to deal with an issue with my insurance company but she handled them with such grace and professionalism and she really advocated for me. Maria the hygienist was fast and gentle and thorough, and even took the time to do some teaching with me on self care. And she was interesting to chat with. Dr. Nguyen has just joined the practice and I was impressed with her all around- I had no pain whatsoever, she answered my questions very patiently, and she was great with aesthetics as she did work on my front teeth. And she was so respectful with her assistant- every dentist works differently so even an experienced assistant has a lot to learn with each dentist they assist, and I worked with some who weren't nearly as pleasant- she communicated what she wanted and complimented her assistant on how fast she learned and the initiative she took and on the things she did well. And Tina the assistant was responsive to my needs and to Dr. Nguyen's, she was engaged and enthusiastic about doing her work well, and attentive to my comfort. Jenny- I think she was also an assistant, though she didn't sit with me- was so sweet and helpful and answered my questions patiently and pleasantly.
