We were referred here by our normal dentist so my wife could have her wisdom teeth removed. It was on a Friday, and Tualatin Modern Dentistry was the only oral surgery office that was open on Saturdays in our network. They were so nice and accommodating at the last minute appointment. The day of the surgery was smooth and quick. The person who helped us at the front, Karen, was extremely detailed in breaking down the price and payment options. Nothing sucks more than an unexpected bill but they make sure you understand what you're paying for which is really helpful. They provided instructions and a "to go" pack of everything needed for the healing. About a week later, my wife was still having some pain on one side so we called to just make sure she didn't have dry socket or any complications. The sweet dentist who answered (unfortunately do not remember her name!) was so helpful and offered for us to come in and have her take a look. We dropped in and she added some dry socket paste and my wife was instantly pain free. Super helpful, friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend them. I have been going to Tualatin Modern Dentistry for over 2 years and while the initial experience was good, the recent visits and treatments have been far from satisfactory. I underwent dental implant treatment here, and the process was plagued by repeated scheduling issues, poor coordination, and what felt like a lack of preparation. My stage 2 procedure was rescheduled multiple times because the office did not have the correct parts and equipment ready. During one appointment, I was numbed by the surgeon only for the procedure to be halted because the necessary abutments were not available to him, despite the office having previously evaluated my case and having the correct parts in stock. The problems continued during the crown phase of treatment. Appointments were repeatedly rescheduled due to issues with the crown fabrication and other office-related delays. When the crown was finally placed, the procedure felt rushed and was significantly more painful than I expected. The crown fit was also not correct, requiring yet another appointment for adjustments. I was also disappointed that a cleaning was performed by an assistant rather than a hygienist without prior notice. The cleaning felt incomplete, and routine periodontal measurements that had been performed at previous visits were not done. The cumulative effect of these issues was a substantial amount of lost time, missed work, inconvenience, and frustration over many months. After documenting my concerns and requesting a partial refund due to the repeated office errors and treatment delays, my request was denied by the office manager. I understand that complications can happen in any healthcare setting. What matters is how those issues are handled. Unfortunately, my experience was that repeated mistakes occurred without meaningful accountability or resolution. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this office and will be transferring to a new dentist office. read more

This office lied to me about services covered by my insurance. I went in for a routine exam and they offered my x-rays and fluoride. I was told they could run my insurance to see if it was covered because I didn't want anything extra out of pocket. They said they ran the insurance and everything would be covered. I now have a bill of over $800 for these services from insurance because they were not actually covered. This office straight lied to me. Will not be coming back. read more

The front desk clerks/receptionists are rude, well at least 2 of them out of the 3 I spoke with. The dentist is nice but I do feel like they overdo it with extra services just to make more money, it didn't feel genuine. This is mainly why I left the clinic. But I will say I absolutely adored the dental assistant, she is so sweet & was the only one who made me comfortable in the office. read more

Came her because I don't have insurance and they offered $99 cleaning. After the exam they said I need a deep cleaning because "pockets" were mostly fours and fives. No problem, they can help with that. They even have a financing option for the 1k, it's will cost me to clean up my gums. I didn't have any desire to finance the 1k through Modern Dentistry, so I decided to wait and budget for myself. Based on a friends recommendation, I booked a deep cleaning via the Pacific Dental School, for $200. After the exams, they said my "pockets" were actually twos and threes (not 4/5) and I definitely didn't need a deep cleaning. (This was verified by the hygienist on staff as well as the doctor). So thankful I got a second opinion, as my 1k saving plan turned into a $50 cleaning. read more

I've been going to TMD for the last couple of years. At first everything seemed great. However things changed quickly. Staff changes as often as your underwear, including dentist, hygienist and front staff. Every time I get my teeth cleaned they don't feel clean at all after I leave. They force you to pay prior to billing insurance and they seem to be overcharging. At my last cleaning they determined I needed scaling/laser cleaning but said my insurance may not pay for it. So I was questioning the necessity of the procedure. I also mentioned the fact that last time I was in the hygienist said they were improving. They said there is a reason she isn't there anymore. While waiting for the charges to be brought to me by the receptionist, I overheard the dentist and hygienist talking about me and how they don't understand why I wouldn't just pay to have my teeth taken care of rather than losing them. Well that really upset me because some of us can't afford to go into more debt for our dental care. I started crying and they continued to bring me my charges that insurance wasn't going to cover and over $800 later. I went ahead and did the one side which was horrible. I wasn't numbed enough and the gal had me so tipped back that water was just running out of my mouth, down my neck and into my shirt. They finally brought me a towel. I've never had this type of an experience at a dental office. I canceled the appt for my other half and will not be coming back. I will be going elsewhere. read more

Went on for a yearly checkup. They deep cleaned my teeth and gave me way to.much Lanocaine and another numbing product. It caused my blood pressure to sky rocket and my heart rate when I got home. Had to call my heart doctor to get it down. When my new dentist requested my records and what they used they never sent it. I finally drove there and insisted they give me my records and what they used. The older receptionist was rude and and it took a lot for me to my records. Once I mentioned The Dental board I got the copy. I would not ever recommend this practice. It's horrible. read more

This is one of most disgusting business I have ever experienced. My son completed his Invisalign treatment after which we purchased a retainer from Tualatin Modern Dentistry. Long story short it was ineffective and my son's teeth kept shifting. He scheduled an appt to report it and one, they charged him for the visit and two, they quoted him 1k+ for another treatment. So his retainer was ineffective, then they want more from us to correct it? After this appt I called them to get more information. After repeated attempts to get a call back I finally get one 3 months later. End result? Nothing we can do. We will terminate the client-patient relationship. Don't believe me? Try calling their front office trying to get through to someone there. Chances are you will get another location or call center. Billing is likely done by another company so there is a lot of passing of the buck. I am taking the time out to detail my experience in hope s that NO ONE ELSE goes through this experience. There are a lot of other options out there. Please choose a reputable company instead. I feel we are entitled to a refund. I will keep people posted. This is a legitimate post and I will gladly answer questions that are sent to me. I'm giving this a one star because apparently I can't give it a zero. read more

Absolutely amazing office. All employees from opening the door to getting the work done were fantastic! Very helpful with all information and explanation of everything they are doing. The doctor and staff assisting were so amazing, they kept me calm the entire time. I've had plenty of dental work, best place. Supposed to get two root canal done, only got one because I was scared. I have been coming to this dentist for about 7 years now and I have always loved the front desk staff and the dentist and everyone there has been so nice. My husband went in for his regularly cleaning the other day which normally it doesn't cost money and the new front desk girl Chloe as well as the new manager Rachel were extremely rude and unprofessional. My husband wasn't prepared to pay since it his regularly cleaning and so he got told if he didn't pay today then they would be sending him to collections and they didn't even ask to see if he wanted to reschedule Chloe just kept saying they were going to send him to collections. Then the manager Rachel came out and I was on the phone with my husband while they were talking at my husband and it was just the worst customer service I have ever even heard coming from A place of business. We then asked if the prior manager was there Karen because we love her and they told us she got fired. Which is extremely inappropriate and illegal to disclose that information. I then called them after I got Off work to figure out what the issue was and Rachel lied to me and told me they weren't rude when I heard the way they were talking at my husband just be cause he normally doesn't pay out of pocket for cleanings. He wasn't prepared d to pay because when we scheduled the appointment they said there was no cost. So instead of them offering to reschedule for a better time frame they were just extremely rude and belittle my husband for be confused and not able to pay right then and there . read more

Is there anything worse than reading a review about a bad dental experience? ooh I know! WRITING ONE! A week & a half after my last intensive surgery, and already 3 bite adjustments down, I was still hitting way too hard on my new crowns. Dr Madson was overbooked for the scheduled adjustment, and so they recommended me to see Dr Todd just this once. If you're familiar with bite-adjustments, it's the only collaborative process at the dentist's. If your answer to "does it hurt when you bite down?" would be "excruciatingly yes," the dentist will do what they can to alleviate that pain. Rarely do they say "I'm not sure what else I can do for you" when you're young and have otherwise healthy oral habits. That's something I doubt Dr Madson would have said, a note Dr Todd felt all too comfortable leaving me on. Only 20 minutes before did I inform Dr Todd that the bite was hitting far too early on a tooth which just got filled. To that note he instantly replied, "are you sure that was a filling we did?" He decides to check the charts and a few seconds later, "oops my bad, I didn't see that!" Oh okay.... oops, he says... I mean it's only a minor surgery. You only had to stick a needle into my jaw so that you could numb me from excruciating pain to perform this "common" procedure I've had done 4 times in 8 days. It was the kind of "oops" that you could tell meant he didn't even look in the first place.. spending 45 minutes shaving my teeth down without any foresight. OOPS! I probably should have just left this at "5/7 dentist.." but I'm not a robot, it sucks being in horrible pain for someone else's negligence. Thankfully I got a recommendation for someone more local to do an adjustment and they handled it with supreme care. This experience aside, I thought the care I received from the hygienists and Dr Madson was decent but limited (a good thing I suppose). I would prefer people not talk so much about their personal dramas while their fingers are in my mouth but that's just a preference. read more

I like that the office is so easy to book with. You can do it online, over the phone, or just walk in - in person. Which is why I liked it compared to my other dentist from before. But after my first visit I felt like I was a sales quota that they had to hit and instead of walking me through my price options and explaining it to me in a relatable way I was pushed and pushed by 3 separate people to try their laser cleaning. There wasn't a thorough explanation of how this differs from other practices. And after talking to my friend there isn't other practical data of that being more of a benefit beyond just making sure you're practicing proper hygiene. The dentist actually agreed that it would be fine. But I felt instead of developing a treatment plan about my needs they were trying to find what ways they could pitch me a cleaning product, Invisalign, a whitening service. All that's not covered by insurance. I think in this day and age you're allowed to say no to medical people selling you a product and you're better off going back to a dentist you actually feel comfortable with rather. read more

They perfectly matched and did a great job on my daughter's teeth after braces and crowned my front tooth same day beautifully. My partner and I have just broken our "dental fast" of between 4-10 years (don't judge us) by starting care with Dr. Duro, and we've been in several times to get some catch up procedures done. We have both had truly awful care in the past (people don't just avoid going to the dentist for 10 years for no reason), and we both have a ton of dental anxiety. This place is a dream for people with anxiety- the office is SPOTLESSLY clean, and everyone from the receptionist to the doctors are consummate professionals. They are very attentive to how you're doing when undergoing stressful procedures like fillings and crowns, and offer breaks and check in with you throughout the procedure. They have been very accommodating with making time for us during late evenings, etc, and Dr. Duro has been SO DANG DILIGENT with asking for a second opinion of another doctor when there is a judgement call to be made. Dr. Duro is the best dentist I have ever had, by far. This is the first time I've been able to make a dental appointment without my heart racing with dental anxiety. Oh yeah! And Jenny the hygienist is fast, effective, and kind in equal measure. This place is amazing, and I'm so glad we ended up here. read more

I have been to this dental office multiple times throughout the past 18 months. It's always hard to review a dental or medical facility with just one visit; that's why I waited a while to write a review about this place. For my last two visits, Kevin Kryder worked with me. He is very professional, and his experience shows every time he performs an examination. He provides sound advice and recommendations for needed procedures. I don't ever feel pressured or coerced into paying for operations or procedures. The entire staff is very friendly and welcoming. I know I'm terrible with my flossing, however they never make me "guilty" for my lack of maintaing my oral hygiene. (I'm a terrible patient, however I'm a good customer ;). They were very nice and friendly, I've been a few times so far and they are never overbooked or rushing through my appointments, which I really appreciate because I like to be able to ask questions. They answered all of my questions, made great recommendations, and have good options as far as payment plans and alternate insurance options for those of us who do not have dental insurance. I went to Tualatin Modern dentistry and the stff was immediately frinedly and effecient. I was signed in through an ipad and then continued to talk with the staff. I came in for a cleaning and when they did the xrays they expalained that they were 90% less radiation than other xray machines because of the new technology. I had a panoramic xray machine do most of the pictures which was easy and very comfortable. Kyle at the front desk expained everything including the total cost of the procedure in accordance with my health insurance. I was shown on a screen all of the cost ahead of time. The dentist (Dr Engle) was very nice and was very accomodating to my fear of shots. I had my mouth open less time than most dentists and I had sunshine coming in the huge windows to make me more comfortable. They were great and I woudl highly recommend them. I also had two fillings done this week and they did a great job. read more

I cannot in good conscience recommend Dr. Anderson at all. On my initial x-ray, he missed a cavity that should have been obvious (at least according to my subsequent dentist). Consequently, for a year and a half, that cavity festered, developing into an infection that was beginning to impugn on the tooth's root and and bone below the gum-line. In the interim, Anderson focused on my gum recession, which was also quite a legitimate issue, but nearly all my pain and sensitivity was due the aforementioned infection. Because of this oversight, what would have been a simple filling ended up requiring extraction of the tooth. Other than that, I don't have anything bad to say...well, the introductory exam/X-ray offer doesn't apply if you require treatment for gum disease, but that kind of bait and switch is extremely common (nearly ubiquitous), so I can't hold it against him. However, both Anderson and the hygienists are friendly, attentive, and responsive to concerns of the patient. read more

If you need to go to the dentist, go to these folks. I was leaving on vacation in 4 days and I had a bad tooth ache. I explained my situation and needed to be seen before my trip. They got me in the next day and even worked around my work schedule. When I arrived, they took X-Rays, and the dentist came in and evaluated me. She did several test and turns out it the tooth ache was from something else and it healed on its own. Total bill=0$!! Granted they didn't do any actual dental work (just evaluate), but I did expect to pay. I dreaded going because I figured it would be expensive. I looked over the prices for routine cleanings and its very reasonable. The staff was friendly and the doctor was fantastic. My family and I will be back. Thanks! read more

This place is awesome. I recently went with a chip in my front tooth. With a previous chip in the other I decided to fix it with 2 crowns. I never left the office until my front teeth were perfect. Mel is beyond awesome and did a 3D picture to make the crowns. No second or third trip to the dentist like other places. Mel made sure that the 2 front teeth exactly matched the rest of my teeth for color so that I didn't look like Bugs Bunny. The costs, as I had no insurance, were very reasonable as they hooked me up with their dental plan. I would recommend this office to anyone and I "hate" dentists but love them. read more

Came in originally for a filling that fell out while pregnant and they were able to see me that day. The temp filling fell out and they were able to put another temp filling in until I had my daughter and could get the permeant crown. They were able to break my crown into three separate visits, as I had to juggle two kids in the office. I came in for a cleaning and that was quick and easy. My next crown was completed same day and I was able to come in the next day for some minor adjustments without an appointment. Dr. Anderson was always professional and super thorough and Dr. Kevin who replaced him is great too. Joyce in the front is amazing and always remembers me and my kids. Melissa the hygienist is friendly and makes sure my whole family is attended to. Pros: Friendly, efficient, professional, fun Cons: Insurance only lets me go twice a year! I went to Tualatin Modern Dentistry for the first time on April 11th, 2014. I moved to the area in August and hadn't had the opportunity to see a dentist, so I recently began looking for a new office. I asked around and many of my friends and coworkers recommended Tualatin Modern Dentistry. They liked it because it was a new office and the staff was really friendly. I should pause here to say that I haven't had a lot of luck with dentists in the past. That's not to say I have bad teeth, but I just don't find all the poking and drilling to be too pleasurable. So when my friends told me that this office really went out of their way to make them feel comfortable and cared for, that really resonated with me. When I got to the office, I was immediately greeted by a nice young woman at the front counter. She helped me check in using this really cool iPad app, and introduced me to the dentist and dental assistant. I've never been in an office where the dentist greets you personally on arrival, so I was really impressed. I had eaten lunch shortly before, so they gave me a really nice toothbrush kit so I could clean up prior to my exam. They took me into another room where I had some x-rays and photographs taken of my teeth, and then I was taken in for my cleaning. The exam room was really different than one I'd been in before. The bed had a large flat screen TV with HD satellite channels. I got to watch basketball while getting my teeth cleaned - how cool is that?! Anyway, the assistant was really sweet and easy to talk to. Well, there wasn't a lot of opportunity for me to talk, but you get the idea. After she polished my teeth, the dentist, Dr. Anderson, came in to go over my x-rays. He found a cavity that needed a filling, and noticed two old fillings that were improperly done, so he recommended that we fix them to prevent any new decay from growing underneath. I was really impressed by that - he found problems that my old dentist *caused.* The nice young woman from the front desk came back to explain the procedures I'd need and to schedule my followup appointment. The rest of my cleaning went just as well - the hygienist used this new supersonic cleaning tool that blasted the plaque and tartar away like a breeze. Now, I didn't have insurance for a few years, so there was a lot of buildup, but they managed to get it cleaned off and my teeth have never felt cleaner. Seriously. After the cleaning, I felt like I had a new mouth. When I came back for my followup appointment (to take care of the fillings) I was once again met by the dentist and the assistant, and led into the same exam room from my previous visit. Dr. Anderson explained what he'd be doing, about how long it'd take, and asked if I had any questions. The assistant had applied some topical numbing solution when I sat down, so by the time I was finished talking with Dr. Anderson, I was ready for the novocaine. The rest of the procedure went as smoothly as it could have - I didn't experience any pain or discomfort, and got to watch the NBA Playoffs the whole time. At one point the assistant noticed that my jaw was closing slightly (I was getting tired of holding my mouth open), so she offered to give me something to hold my jaw open. It made the rest of the procedure fly by, and I was done before I knew it. Since the fillings, I haven't had any issues with sensitivity or my bite not lining up properly. The truth is, my mouth feels exactly like it did prior to my procedure. This office really did provide the best dental experiences I've ever had. They were so kind and friendly every step of the way, I felt like I'd been going there for years. I spoke with my coworkers afterward, and they all feel the same way. The office staff was very helpful and the dental staff made me feel comfortable and relaxed the whole time. This is an easy recommendation, and they deserve a big A+. read more

This has been the only dentist office to make me feel comfortable. I'm not particularly fond of going to the denstis but I do no mind coming here. I love being able to watch tv while you wait for the docotor to come into the exam room I also love the way they treat you.
