We called Beaver Creek Aquatics (BCA) to get an estimate to clean our pond. I wasn't home when the BCA rep showed up and my elderly parents showed him where the pond was located. For 30 minutes he tried to convince my parents we needed to spend $40K to redo the pond. The worst part though was that he broke one of the pipes on our pond pump and then he charged $170 for the consultation (he didn't fix the pipe he broke). It was a lucky break that I called Beaver Creek Aquatics. The office squeezed me into an already busy day. The owner, Justin is a walking encyclopedia about all kinds of bodies of water and the things that live in them. If it matters, he also has the professional degrees to back it up. He considered my knowledge level (minimal at that point), my enthusiasm and my budget and explained what I needed to do to get the pond and its plants and fish back in shape. He carries his own line of maintenance products in the truck, saving me the time and gas to locate them. Together we made a schedule of daily, weekly and monthly tasks to gradually bring the pond back into balance. This visit was money well spent. I feel secure knowing I am doing things correctly and know how to get the products I need to keep things balanced. I also know who I can depend on in an emergency. We are having some problems with the skimmer on our koi pond holding water and keeping pressure. I called Justin out and he was very nice on the phone and very prompt with coming out. The first thing I didn't like is that he charges $85 just to come out. So no free estimates.... but we were pretty desperate to figure out the problem. Once he was here, he gave us assessments that we already knew about. For pond repair issues, I would rate Justin a 2 stars because he didn't seem that knowledgeable. i hired Justin Beaver to trouble shoot why I was losing water in my koi pond. The cost was $85 to come out. Took him no more than 20 minutes to tell me the leaks were around the simmer and waterfall. Cost to repair would be $415, not icluding the de-chlorinate liquid ($30) and pre-cut filter ($20) and will take 3 - 4 hours. Parts used were minimum, stainless steel hardware (nuts and bolts) and waterproof caulk (mostly labor). Clean up was left for me. Noticed pond continued to leak. Called Justin who came back and told me leaks were coming from the liner. Apparently, the assetment of the problem was too premature, should have taken the time to be more thorough. I could have decided then whether to repair th epond or not. Lastly, repair was done by dad who parked his truck on the driveway (brick pavers) which left oil stains patches. Bottom line, be careful on who you hire too expensive for what you get. I will also never use him again. read more

Has nothing to do with the fact that you couldn't give us a heads up call the day before you were coming and couldn't accommodate only Thursday or Friday appointments as requested. Now that you bring that up, so will I. It wasn't three weeks after you came out that we noticed the filter, it was less than 2, and we didn't notice until some water had evaporated and it started making noise. I appreciate your argumentative rebuttal, but I waited for a return call about the filter and you never called back, and why the hell would I pay extra for you to come and fix something you were too incompetent to put together correctly in your rush to leave within your 1 hour of paid service. You rush your service, don't pay attention to detail, don't return calls and apparently argue back on yelp with all your unsatisfactory reviews. So there's my update and revised stars. My recommendation for you is return a call once in a while and provide better customer service. read more

Our pond looks like brand new - Justin was able to revitalize our pond when the water was full of sludge and algae. It was completely opaque and he was able to clean it out perfectly, fix our pump filter, and provide us with the right additives to keep it looking perfect. I've had a professionally installed pond for 15 or so years. I've used another pond contractor from the day it was installed. But unfortunately that contractor wasn't very reliable. Too often I would call and not hear back from him sometimes for weeks. He did a great job, but just wasn't reliable. Someone in my neighborhood recently mentioned they used Beaver Creek Aquatics and so I researched the company on Yelp! and saw many favorable reviews. So I decided to give them a try. I called over a holiday weekend, but heard back promptly on the first business day following. Justin is who the owner/operator was very professional on the phone and scheduled a consultation later that day. That went well and I scheduled a maintenance of my pond for the following week. Though Jason had to delay his arrival by a couple of hours, he contacted me in advance and explained the circumstances that caused the delay. No worries there. When he did arrive he was professional and very knowledgeable. He gave me some great biology type advice both about the pond ecosystem and about my fish. He was a wealth of information to be sure. No major changes were made to the pond but I'll be having Justin back in the next few weeks to update my lighting system. I'll definitely use him again and would not hesitate recommending him to others. read more

I hired Beaver Creek Aquatics to clean my small pond/waterfall. He came out for a fee that would be credited toward the work should I choose to move forward. During his initial visit he spouted all the wonderful things he was going to do. He followed up by emailing a quote. The description of work in the quote was very vague, but I was already in $89. When the job was done, my yard was half flooded, one dead fish, one leak in the skimmer where the auto fill valve mounts, didn't pressure wash the sides due to good algae, didn't clear the dead growth from the top of the waterfall because it's now unstable (didn't hear anything unstable on quote visit), said he "doesn't dig" because my pump being changed out had a buried cord, wants to sell a chlorine kit after you tell him you have a Whole House Filter that removes chlorine from the water, wouldn't come back without being paid $89/hr when I called shortly after he left about the leak. Bottomline: Make sure everything he says he is going to do is included in his quote that he emails you. His customer service needs improvement. I will not use this service again. read more

I would think twice about using this service for ponds. He replaced our pump and it stopped working after a week or so, then he tried to blame me for it by saying there was debris in the pond that got sucked into it. Finally, the brand new pump died and even though under warranty, he noted the only way to get my money back was to ship it out of town at my own cost. The pump weighs a lot and the shipping cost alone was not worth it. To add insult to injury he would charge for each visit to check it out, as some other readers suggest. Finally I got fed up and went with San Diego Pond and Garden who are true professionals. This was a very unsatisfactory experience, all the way from his attitude to his professionalism.
