The dog we thought we were looking at looked big on camera but was a puppy so keep that in mind. We went in with poker face but within minutes "Lola" was in our car and we headed home. Dog has been amazing. Vet gave it a clean bill of health. We are 2 weeks in. Already potty trained and an absolute love of the family! We highly recommend this service!

Well, I adopted a puppy and had many unforeseen issues, including my older dog rejecting the new puppy, and they would not take her back. They told me, if it was an urgent issue all I could do was pay one of their trainers $50 per day to give her back. They had no fosters available yet here I was liable, per the contract. They hid behind their monitors/phones texting with no one wanting to help at all. They accused me of not wanting to spend the money to train the puppy along with being very, very rude to me when all I wanted was for them to live up to the rules of their very own contract. If they are going to write a contract as such, they need to follow through and take the puppy back quickly. This is how bad things happen to animals when an owner can't keep the dog for many reasons, or the dog is not a good fit for the household. If they truly care they should adhere to their own requirements. Long story short, with time and training and patience, and after 6 weeks of being abandoned by Baja Rescue entirely, and moving forward as a loving animal lover, we will be keeping the puppy afterall. But, this isn't always the case for some people and if Baja Rescue truly loved animals they would stand by their word and their contract or not have that in the contract at all Therefore, I do not recommend this rescue to anyone. They do not follow through and their actions reflect neglect of animals.

They were able to get all 4 core shots done as well as the express his anal gland. The girls were so nice, Lissa & Margo -- you guys rock!! Thank you for taking care of my little man. They were friendly, affordable, & soooo sweet. They set him up with high quality treats during the appointment and I couldn't be happier with their entire set up. We've raised her carefully, worked with very professional trainers, and given her a loving, calm home. We also tried anxiety medicine from our regular vet. Still, when she hears loud noises, especially on trash day, she becomes a different dog. She just can't handle it. So we saw Dr. Crystal Steib, a veterinary behaviorist. Think of her as a "dog psychiatrist." There are very few of these specialists in San Diego County, and she is excellent. It was the most thorough, detailed exam I have ever seen, for a person or an animal. She had read all of our dog's records before we arrived. She was prepared, very professional, and clearly knew what she was doing. Most of all, she truly cares about her work. We left with a clear plan to help our dog. If your dog has a hard behavior problem, like biting or serious anxiety, and you've already tried trainers and medicine, this is the place to go. On a personal note: I'm almost 69, and this is the first pet I have ever owned. I spent my life working and going to school. As another customer mentioned (Kevin Bucy) we were also additional charged for "going over time" when all we did was let Patrick talk - which didn't provide value and was inconsiderate of our time. After our disappointment I emailed Patrick trying to resolve our dissatisfaction with his services. He refused to do anything to reconcile the situation - he couldn't even provide an action plan instead just continued to write very long emails that felt intentionally exhausting. My wife has left a review in which Patrick replied defensively revealing sensitive information while making our dog out to be this terrible risk (which is why your job exist) but our dog has only had 1 situation in her 9+ years in which was provoked and Patrick himself said in the initial call that it wasn't a big deal. Simply put, don't waste your valuable time OR money. I'm sure Patrick will respond to this review defensively gaslighting my experience - to Patrick, you're allowed to charge and provide whichever services you choose however your paying customers are also allowed to write a review of their experience. We have a 17…read moremonth old PIT that has High drive and is very reactive towards dogs, cats, lizards, birds or anything that moves and Ed went right to work. In just 60 days of classes here and there, our DOG has made insanely huge improvements. Ranging from more structured walks, instead of towing us around, sit, stay, recall and being around other dogs and not getting too anxious. Our dog use to not be able to be around another dog without whining and anxiety taking over, he is making huge progressive every week though with Ed's classes and guidance!! We just finished his 6 week group training and I plan on going into the next class, which is more advanced with more dogs, higher pace and continue the learning and training with our dog TANK! We took his 6-week beginner course and within the first hour of training we saw a marked difference in our dog's behavior. He is amazing at not only reading dog behavior, but also owner behavior. I am a timid person, but Ed was so patient in teaching me commands that it gave me confidence in handling my dog at training and at home. In my opinion very well run, organized with receipts being sent over email and confirmation calls and emails. What's stood out most is Dr. Schuda encouraging us to get an MRI which we did (at another specialty hospital) to properly diagnose my dog's ailment. It makes so much sense so that we can customize her therapy and rehab correctly. She has been in communication with all of our vets now, our holistic vet, neurologist, and surgeon. It's like having a specialized liaison to customize Glory's treatment. We are thankful to have found (been referred by a friend) to Animals Only. I don't think I'm being a sour grape when the rescue decided to stop communicating with us for no apparent reason. One of the dogs from the litter we were interested in is STILL up for adoption 2 years later. That's a serious issue there. We have a fenced-in home with a large backyard. We are young, married, and without children. We have experience with dogs. My husband was working from home at the time, and now I am working from home. We are more than financially capable to spend money on our pets/family members. The big picture? Qualified families are being ignored when they express interest in adopting. We sent 2-3 emails asking for an update on our application with no response. Not even a courteous reason for declining our application. They didn't respond. Everything had been fine and dandy up until then. We now have two extremely happy dogs that we adopted from other organizations.

I adopted my Shepherd about two years ago. He was in very rough shape before I got a chance to meet him and without this rescue I doubt he would be alive today, and for that I am forever grateful. Some people have a tough time understanding why they have been rejected by the rescue. I cannot speak on their behalf. However I do know how much time and effort gets put into getting these dogs well and finding them a suitable forever home. It just makes sense to me they are not just going to hand out a dog to someone who is not educated or able to give the dog everything it needs in life. People just don't think about how rescue dogs were lacking that support system and how they thrive when placed with the proper family! Many people want to rescue a dog to do a "job" for them. Protect the house or family. These dogs are not employees, they are family members. If they happen to do things like that, great. However if they want to sit on the couch all day and enjoy the luxuries of a responsible dog owner then so be it! Basically...I applaud the Southern California German Shepherd Rescue for everything they do for these beautiful animals. They are wonderful people with the kindest souls. Not to mention really sweet and lots of fun. If you are thinking about rescuing a dog, please consider the SCGSR. Ignore these ignorant posts and do yourself a favor and satisfy your life with a great rescue. They deserve it!!!
