First and foremost, Beauty Sensai is located INSIDE Justin Michael's Salon. Don't be like my best friend and me. We stood outside the salon for 10 min puzzled and staring at our phones. "But Google Maps says we're here!" And y'all know Google Maps is never wrong. So step into the salon and tell the young woman at the desk that you have an appointment with the impeccable Miss Alicia. We came for the sugaring hair removal (Groupon deal!). Both of us developed a lady crush for Alicia. She is adorable! Not to mention, she's a pro with sugaring and is very knowledgeable about all types of hair removal. She's done it all and she's had it done on herself so she understands your apprehensions, feels your pain (and yes, sugaring hurts but it's not as painful as you'd think) and reassures you with her amazing execution. Alicia explained the benefits and advantages of sugaring compared to waxing and this woman knows her stuff! She is very professional yet personable. Whenever anyone's work involves close contact with your skin, it's an intimate process but Alicia exudes the triple C's: comfort, calm and confidence. So you're in good hands (literally)! She also uses the best quality ingredients and products. Alicia did a great job but when I got home, I realized there was a little bit of hair she missed. And the Groupon deal was confusing. The wording in the Groupon and her website did not match (which is probably Groupon's bad). It made it difficult to schedule an appointment for the correct service. But other than that, I'd recommend sugaring and Alicia for anyone interested in any kind of body hair removal. It's an organic and natural means of removing hair and it really isn't that painful. I have a low threshold for pain and I survived! Afterwards, you can return to your normal life. No discomfort, side effects, irritation or funky reactions! read more

Ok, Admission time. I got sugared and I liked it. We are heading to Mexico next week and I didn't want to look like Sasquatch. "DADDY! WHAT IS THAT THING?!" I found Beauty Sensai on Yelp and I made an appointment with Alicia to sugar my back. I have never waxed or done anything like this before in my life and I was a little more than nervous having watched 40 year old virgin. But Alicia is super friendly and extremely funny. She put me at ease immediately, had me laughing the whole time and before I knew it it was all over. I am not going to lie. Getting my hairy back sugared was not painless, but it was not unbearable either. And it was nothing like the movie. After the first few swipes it was smooth sailing. Get it? Smooth ;) Alicia was thorough and took her time to get it done right. She even applied lotion afterward to help cool my back down which felt really nice. Her room is peaceful and her table was extremely comfortable. The results were as expected. No hair on my back. This was well worth the price and experience and I will be back again. Alicia ROCKS. I've been seeing her for about a year and a half for waxing and she's really just the best. In the best of circumstances, hair removal can be painful, but she makes it as easy as she can. She's personable, funny, and very thorough. As I get older, I find that it's really important to me to work with businesses/business owners who (1) do their jobs really, really well, and (2) love & are passionate about what they do. Alicia definitely fits this. While I personally prefer waxing, she's done sugaring as well as threading on me. I think she prefers the threading and sugaring, but is willing to go with what the client - me! - prefers. I would encourage anyone to try all of the options, since they each have pros and cons and everyone will have their own preference. Alicia is very nice and one of those that are not quite and make you feel so awkward. She's friendly and can have a conversation with you no matter what the topic is. I enjoyed her service (sugar waxing and eye brow threading). Very very VERY well done unlike other places I have to go home clean up all their left overs. She had great integrity and did not leave one tiny spot. The only down side of sugar waxing is its more expensive than regular waxing and it takes longer time but I guarantee you'd not need to go back as frequent or as soon as regular waxing. read more

This place was awesome!! Just so everyone knows, it's actually inside of Justin Michael's Salon but it's a difference business. I was a walk in and wasn't sure if I could be seen right away for an eyebrow wax. Luckily, Alicia came right out and took me in the back. What I really liked was how personable she was. The first thing she tells me is "I have an obsession with eyebrows and I seriously have a crush on your eyebrows" lol so she gave me a mirror and said "tell me what you like and don't like about your eyebrows. Also, do you want them round? Square? Pernounced? Deep arch?" I told her a few things and she got started. She had this chocolate scented wax she was gushing about and I could see why. It went on really smooth and required no strips. The temperature was perfect and once it dried, she just peeled it right off! It wasn't painful at all! She also mentioned she prefers this type of wax so that when you're done she doesn't send you off into the world with a red face. She was very quick, efficient and I have been getting a lot of compliments on my eyebrows! If you check in there on Yelp you get $5 off! I have purchased treatment via living social: * $60 ($120 value) for a pumpkin peel + LED light treatment I was not informed on the living social voucher that the location was inside another salon, so I was lost coming in for the appointment. Alicia was gracious about it, so that's the one star. - (minus) 4 stars are for false advertising via living social and rude response to my review of the service on LS site. Let me explain: $120 value treatments are NEVER training sessions even if you get it on sale for $60. My voucher from LS did NOT have any fine print about it being a training session and that is exactly what I received on Tuesday Sept 10th 2013. I understand the point of trying to get new customers and using living social as additional advertising and such. But if that's the case then at least provide fabulous service NOT a TRAINING SESSION on my face! The girl that perform my treatment under Alicia's directions was sweet enough, but she was training on me. After working (accounting dept) in a large European spa on east coast and volunteering myself for training purposes during that time, I know that ALL treatments administrated during training session are FREE to the volunteers. I did not volunteer for a training treatment at Beauty Sensai! I prepaid for a pumpkin peel and LED treatment. Alicia is amazing. It was my first time. I will go back again and again. She's absolutely wonderful. Ok . . . SOOOO... I survived my 1st Brazilian Sugaring Hair Removal. There were only a couple of wooosaaa moments but other than that it was not bad at all. Totally well worth it. Most wont want to read these details so if you are not interested please move on to someone else's post and skip this one. Sugaring is a mix of Lemon, Sugar and Water. It is 100% Natural and it is room temperature. It looks like a ball of goop that's sticky. Here is my experience via bullet points. 1. My Sugaring Lady was very professional. Explained the process to me before she started. We talked the entire time about anything and everything which totally keeps your mind occupied. In mid sentence she would say deep breath; and when you feel her pull you exhale. Those are your woooosaaa moments. Never once did I get teary eyed or feel like ok it's gotta stop now I can't take anymore. 2. Nerve endings are all down there and there are A LOT of them. The worst part for me is the edge of the lips from about 1/2 way to the top part of the "U" just above your clitoris. Those are the places she will tell you to take a deep breath. 3. First they will wipe it down with a wet cloth not sure what it is but assume it was some type of antibacterial cloth. Then they apply powder to your skin so that the Sugar never comes in direct contact with your skin. It is applied against the grain of the hair so that it gets into it and it is pulled going with the grain of hair. This keeps the irritation down afterwards. (I didn't have ANY redness when I was done) 4. Most people go in with the fear that the butt crack is going to hurt the worst... WRONG.. that was the easiest place... NO CLUE why... but you honestly couldn't even tell she did it. 5. I have waxing done on my lip, chin, eyebrows monthly... I guarantee you that I will NEVER let regular wax be put down there... HELL NO; but the Sugaring wasn't bad at all. 6. Many people want the "non painful" method of waxing in this area. Not gonna happen folks. It is a sensitive area. The way it was explained to me is people that shave all the time via down there or their armpits . . The hair "Bulb" or the root stays in your skin and you shave over it and it grows new hair and you shave over it... the bulb just gets bigger and bigger because it's never removed. So the first time you wax (anywhere) is going to hurt the worst because the bulb is large. The more you wax the smaller the bulb and eventually in the southern regions it stops growning meaning there is less Sugaring to do. Anyway. I would totally recommend Sugaring for any areas instead of waxing. Much better for your skin. read more

It is time for an update for this review as I continually rely on Alicia for more and more of my beauty needs. I am a loyal customer to her for my eyebrow waxing and as of recently, bikini waxing too. She is professional, friendly and passionate about her services. After her service, my eyebrows always look good (and even!). Since I trust her, I finally got my first ever bikini wax. Although there was pain...it was not as bad as I thought it would be, especially the second time when she used a new type of wax on me that she had recently started using. I've always preferred sugaring for sensitive areas because it is A LOT less painful (almost to the point of no pain) than waxing and hair grows back much thinner. While Alicia is on the pricier side in comparison to other sugaring places I've tried what sets her apart makes paying a little more worth it. First off, Alicia is super friendly. From the first time you meet her to every appointment after she consistently treats you well as a customer. Plus, the conversation is always constantly flowing so it's easy to get relaxed and keep your mind off any pain you might be worried about. When it comes to doing the actual sugaring, Alicia is thorough and precise so you'll be pleased with the results. My favorite part of the overall service, and that part that makes Alicia different, is the soothing mask she puts after the sugaring. It is cooling and calms the skin after the sugaring so that you don't feel any sensitivity or irritation at all afterwards. Seriously, this stuff is like a miracle mask! If you are new or curious about trying sugaring I highly recommend going to Alicia. Beauty Sensai is located within a salon (which was mentioned in my voucher as well as her website) but it was easy to find. If you let the gals in the front know you're there to see Alicia they are helpful and prompt about letting her know and Alicia always comes out fairly quickly so that you have a very minimal wait. Alicia is an excellent aesthetician. She gave me a wonderful facial and LED light treatment. The whole experience was relaxing and very informative. She has a lovely touch, and really knows her business. More than a week after the treatment, my skin still feels much smoother than before. All the little bumps are gone. I have had seborrhea (redness and flaking) around my nose for many years, and it is also gone. I've tried many different treatments for it, and some helped, but it was never gone before. I decided to get my FIRST bikini bare sugaring and eyebrow threading at Beauty Sensai about 3 weeks ago and after my experience i thought to myself - why didn't i do this before???? I have to admit that it was painful at first but it was bearable and kind of de-stressing for me. I already went for my 2nd session last weekend - same great experience. The deal I got from Groupon is amazing 3 bikini bare sessions for $105!!!! what a STEAL!!! Her small business really rocks because it provides a 1 on 1 attention and her focus is on you. I also like her scheduling system - you go online and set up an appointment, just show up for your appointment and you're good to go.
