I have to have a really amazing experience to go out of my way to post a review and that was absolutely the case here. After wearing lash extensions for a year straight I decided that I would give my lashes a break since I had also been too busy to get out to my amazing lash lady in Roseville. Upon removal though my lashes definitely looked a little short and stubby on top of me also being used to extensions. I did some research and settled on Dolores at Beauty Marks for a lash lift. Dolores is so sweet and immediately put me at ease. Very clean little place near Sacramento City College and she was very thorough and professional. We had a great conversation during the process and it really made time go by faster and before I knew it were done. Due to having had lash extensions in, some of my lashes wouldn't curl fully. This was in no way Dolores' fault but she had me come in for a follow up appointment the next week to try and get them to curl more which I really appreciated. I came here about 2 months ago and got my eyelashes permed. I've done it many times before at multiple places, with varying results. Some places tell you it lasts 2+ months, when the honest truth is it lasts closer to 4-6 weeks before it starts to limp. This one did last me pretty long, close to the two months like the owner had said. I came here for a lash perm-Dolores is thankfully the most affordable in town (not only for lash perms, but for most any service she offers) and she does great work. She is also knowledgeable and has an array of more advanced/unique treatments that no one else seems to offer, locally. Definitely not your run of the mill basic esthetic studio. Since my last review, I came back like a 6 weeks afterwards to get my eyelash perm again. The results were bad...bad to the point where one side was kinda curl and the other was just flat and everywhere..pretty bad. My eyelash looked pretty damaged too, so I didn't wanted to come back to get it done again. It looked so bad that I had to wear fake lashes on a daily basis..something I've never done before. The people that run this place is really nice though, so if you really need to get an eyelash perm then this is the place to do. But it really doesn't last more than 2 months like they claim..mine went limp within 4-5 weeks so it was a hassle to maintain. They charge $45 for the perm last time I remembered..but it might went up to $50..not sure. The last time I came in was beginning of May. read more

It's been a while but I need to go back for a touch-up. I got the permanent eyeliner, however, I'm convinced that it's not a problem with the artist, it's me. I had it done twice but I barely have a trace of eyeliner and still have to wear eyeliner when I feel like wearing make-up. The reason I think it's my skin with the problem is because I also had my eyebrows done here and they look so fabulous. Third timid for me with this artist. As anyone with perm makupe can tell you it needs a touch up, I first had my eyebrows sone by someone else that was highly recommend but obviously, not for people with heart snapped faces I remember actually whipping sunblock off hoping to fade then sooner, it was horrible. Dolores is amazing! I got an eyelash perm back in December before a trip to Vegas. I'll admit, the idea of chemicals around your eyes is nerve-racking but she made the procedure comfortable and painless! She really knows what she is doing! I highly recommend! My cousin & I have been looking for a local salon that does eyelash perms, but turns out that it was harder to find than we thought. With our luck, we found Beauty Marks & I must say I'm glad that we did. On a Sunday (which for some reason was the hardest day to find an open salon), Dolores from Beauty Marks was available within the next hour! I thought that off the bat, this was great. The building itself is tricky to find and literally is 1/2 of a cozy building, but that in no way underestimates the quality and customer service that this salon provides. I had the opportunity to go with my cousin while she had her lashes done, & I got to watch the entire process- something that the client themselves could never experience. Dolores explained to us that there are various ways of perming lashes, but insisted that she prefer her method since it is sanitary. And sanitary it was. Using all disposable items from the "curlers" to carefully using toothpicks when in need of the different solutions, this would absolutely be my method of choice as well. She is VERY clean with her application and is very precise about the clean up. She managed to do an amazing job on my cousins lashes, all while sincerely engaging in conversation and not skipping a beat. After about 30-40 minutes of setting the solutions, she unveiled my cousins lashes. One word- stunning. Her natural lashes were of a medium length which naturally had a slight negative angle. But after Dolores' work, her eyelashes very naturally defied gravity with flair and literally opened up her eyes, adding to the dimension and warmth. If any of you have used fake lashes, I would make her results comparable to Ardell 109s. Actually, probably with even more of a curl. I've had the opportunity of seeing how it's done, & now I CAN'T WAIT to bat my eyes with Beauty Marks' work of art. read more

I went in for eyeliner about 2 months after the place opened and it was great. I decided (21/2) years later that it hadn't faded but since I aged I would and went back. I swear and curse this woman every morning when I put on makeup. It takes me longer now than it did before I had my eyebrows done. My 2 eyebrows are very different and it is obvious. She knew I was unhappy after the first appt and begged me (her words) to remove my negative review. Said she could fix it. i went back for the "touch up" and sure enough it was a touch up of the original mess with no correction. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE: Only giving Dolores one star since I cannot choose zero stars. Last year I took my mom to get her eyebrows done. Dolores assured us that we would get some brown in her eyebrows, and committed to TWO additional touch ups. After the first touch up still no improvement, she suggested to wait about six months. After waiting the six months I played phone tag with her for over a month (TRY CALLING HER, I GUARANTEE YOU SHE WON'T ANSWER) and when we finally spoke she said she was going to charge for the touch up. At this point I felt like we got ripped off, my mom ended up with no improvement and Dolores refused to refund us anything. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. read more

Dolores did my lips and eyeliner...NOT HAPPY AT ALL...once my lips were done healing after a week or so there were no color at all...she pretends to listen to what you have to say and how you want it done but she really just does whatever she wants...after my lips and eyeliner were done I did not like them...she didn't even do anything close to what I asked for...usually I wouldn't go back to someone that doesn't listen or do what I want but I figured I already paid her over $800 I might as well get the touch up from her...now that she already got my money she lags to fit me in her schedule to get the touch up...she always says that she's too busy and books me one or two months later and when the time comes I would text her to confirm before I come in...then she would just ignore my text and says that she never got my text...I saw all the stars and good reviews about her that's why I went to her...biggest mistake!! I've been coming to Dolores for a while now and every time she does a fantastic job! I've been to other people and each time it's been screwed up and I don't like the results. I've had my eyeliner, eyebrows and lips done over 20yrs ago. The first time was a mess. I've been to others and Dolores is the first to not only do a great job but she knows how to correct the problem and color matches perfectly. I have oily skin so like with most tattoos they start to fade especially my brows but she does hair strokes and they look natural. My eyeliner was also botched but Dolores has also corrected the problem and my eyes look normal again. My lips same thing she knew to fix the crooked lines and take out color where it didn't belong outside my lip line and fix them with a natural color. Love, love what she does and she is very nice. I'm not one that freaks with pain but she makes it so comfortable with minimal pain and her easy voice to talk to. I highly recommend Dolores, especially if this is your first time. Dolores is the best! I had brows done elsewhere and she corrected the red cast to the prior tattoo that made my skin around the brows look inflamed. Also corrected the shape with a much better esthetic result. She's a real artist and conducts herself in an impeccable, professional manner. I've had her tint my eyelashes for years and nobody gets such dark, long-lasting results--I've tried others before her and the tint didn't last. Referred a family member to her for help with alopecia and she got fabulous results--very natural looking and covers the light scalp peeking through thin hair. I've referred friends to her--never hesitate about the referral because I know they'll be thrilled with the results. got my eyebrows tattooed and they look horrible and they look nothing like I used to wear them. I used to get compliments about my eyebrows but not anymore. I came in with my eyebrows done the way I normally wear them (takes 15mins to shadow/draw them in). now it takes 40mins or so to shadow/draw them in. all I wanted to do was to eliminate the 15min it took me every morning. What's the saying, if its not broke done fix it. however, the owner is very nice, but I now hate my eyebrows, they look awful. read more
