It felt like I had a Lil spa day. I found my nail place not only for special occasions, but ill definitely be treating myself to getting pampered like this more often! I opted for clear gel nails with a French tip and it turned out beautiful. It was on the higher price range ($75+ for gel manicure w/ French tip & chrome) but I thought she did a good job, so I decided to come back. Second time around I came back to get a fresh gel coat but my experience was different. The technician was very kind (I want to emphasize she was very kind & apologetic) but seemed distracted. She used the acrylic sanding tool to shave off my gel and continued to file my nail down THIN. She was having conversation with a co-worker that she didn't realize she cut a pretty decent chunk of my cuticle off as well. It was non-stop bleeding and while she was very apologetic, but truthfully it was painful and continued to reopen for the next week. Well it's been about 2 weeks and I decided to try a different salon. After removing my gel we saw the damage that was done. My nails were filed down so thin that the manicurist recommended that I don't do anything to my nails and let them heal. My nails don't even look like nails, they look like shaved damaged cardboard. They have indents so deep that cannot be buffered. The manicurist was unable to remove all of the gel because my nail bed was so thin it grew apart of my nail. I'm so upset. I'm not one to write negative reviews but this isn't okay.

Unfortunately, my experience was very different the second time around. I work in an office and spend most of my day typing, so I specifically wanted short, practical acrylic nails. When I explained that to Ken, he didn't seem very pleased that I wanted them kept short. I wasn't looking for long, dramatic nails--just something clean, professional, and well done. I also took advantage of the complimentary pedicure that was offered. However, my full set was completely finished before the pedicure even started, despite my nails being done on the spa side where the pedicure was taking place. From a distance, my nails look okay, but up close there are quite a few imperfections. The shape is inconsistent from nail to nail, some are noticeably thicker than others, and a few have a slightly bumpy appearance. The overall finish just wasn't as polished as I expected. On a positive note, the pedicure itself was excellent and I was very happy with that service. While I would consider returning for a pedicure, I will likely go elsewhere for acrylic nails in the future.
