NOT A DEVA CUT!! Stylist cut it wet, used thinning shears, and raked fingers through curls separating the curl-clumps!! Did not scrunch curls at all. He had me turned away from the mirror the whole time. I couldn't see what he was doing or using. It didn't dawn on me until after and he told me about the thinning. My hair is a frizzy mess. I hope I can style it in such a way that the cut doesn't matter. Oh, and I don't think he used and Deva products. Beauty brands, please remove "Deva Cut" from your website if you are not going to make sure your stylists have the training. read more

I was referred here by a long time customer so I thought I'd give it a try. After arriving 10 minutes early for my appointment I waited probably 30 minutes. All of the girls were very nice so no problems there. I have very long, blonde hair and was wanting lighter highlights. I was told by the stylist that once my hair starts to grow out the roots would be less noticeable because it will blend. Picture attached, this is not even a month after getting highlights and it's definitely not "blending". You can see very clearly the uneven application. For $200 (that's with a 20% discount) I'm not overly impressed. My entire head looks similar to the pictures. The stylist was very nice but she didn't even dry my hair all the way before attempting to "curl" it, which consisted of about 10 curls with a flatiron. I had to go home and brush and dry my hair, it was in knots. I probably will not come here again and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

I'm not the type to leave bad reviews, but this truly calls for it. I got my hair cut & got a balayage with tiffany, and i've never had such a bad experience. I showed her my goal picture and was asked a budget. I told her I can really only afford to go a little over and I guess I should've clarified an extra 75 dollars was not in my price range at the moment. We went over the price multiple times and I stated I was fine with a little over, and she stated she will stay as close as possible. She never mentioned the rest of the appointment the cost. When she styled it she must've hid the truly horrifying cut. No piece of my hair is the same length, one side is at least an inch and a half shorter than the other. My balayage is completely uneven and looks extremely bad. The front of my hair is bright blonde while the back and the sides are orange with brown dots everywhere. She stated she was a blonde specialist multiple times and how she was so good and knows how to blend balayages perfect. The pictures alone speak to the false information. I will never go back to Beauty Brands as this is the second time a stylist has messed up my hair completely and i've had to go elsewhere to fix their mistakes. It'd be beneficial for the stylists to get more training as it seems they can't do even cuts and up charge you without telling you. I'm extremely grateful the management taking this serious and gave me a full refund as no one deserves to walk around with uneven orange hair. It's disgusting knowing she saw all these mistakes and chose not to fix them. My hair was blonde and way more even before I walked in, and the second I saw how poorly my hair was I was in tears. Like I said, I hate being this person, but no one deserves to have their hair ruined like this and I now have to go get it completely redone read more

Honestly I don't know why this place has such high ratings. My advice is not to trust someone just because they're called a "master stylist" and ask prices before letting them touch your hair. They do a great job of up charging you. I had no idea a service she said she'd perform would cost and extra $80 (I'm not going to mention names) I don't recommend this place. The remodeled store is beautiful and it's easy to find the cosmetics now. The staff at this store is usually friendly and helpful. The store itself & most of the employees would probably rate 4 or 5 stars. I had overestimated how long I could go in between my scheduled hair cuts with my regular stylist and found myself needing to have my split ends trimmed. I have a meeting with a friend tomorrow and wanted my hair to look nice. I decided to try the Beauty Brands off 291 hwy. and made an online 3:45 appt with Samantha S. When I sat down I mentioned to Samantha I'd appreciate her ideas on different ways I might wear my hair as I was trying to grow it out. She told me she probably wasn't a good one to ask as she was 'a minimalist' and really only wore her hair either curled, straight or 1/2 up and 1/2 down. She also suggested a messy bun. Okay, I understand that she might not be into learning hair styles for herself personally, but she is a cosmetologist, so..... Oh well, just a disappointment, I can look on Pintrest for ideas I guess. At that point I tell her I'd like to leave with my hair curled. On to the shampoo bowl. For the first time, a cosmetologist shampooed my hair only once quickly, put on some conditioner & we're done. I wash my hair very 3 days. I use mousse, root lifter, Moroccan oil and hair spray. There is no way one quick lathering is going to remove all the products and clean my hair. We talk about how much I want cut off. I tell her I'm trying to grow it out but really dislike the split, dry ends I see. I tell her to cut off as much as she needs to. As she's trimming later, I asked her if she's trimming off (even) an inch. She assures me she is. As she's drying it, I told her I'd like as much volume on the roots as possible. We also talk about different types of curls. She again tells me again she's ' a minimalist' and really only uses a flat iron to curl her hair for waves. She says that's what most of her clients do too. I tell her I'd never really had much luck using a flat iron for curls as I prefer the rounder curl of the curling iron. She commented how much longer it took with a curling iron. She tells me she has plans that evening & that I'm her last client. I notice how quickly she seems to be moving through my hair with her flat iron. I told her I really couldn't see what she was doing but again said I DIDN'T like the whole 'beachy wave' thing and wanted curls. The I get a look at my hair in the mirror- you guessed it- 'beachy waves'. Ummm... I pulled out an especially straight piece at the bottom and ask her to please curl it. In my mind, I'm trying to think how to nicely phrase my answer to indicate I'd like my hair curlier when she asks how I like it... you know, at the end... when she's done. I had no intention of being rude, but would have asked for the 'waves' to be changed into curls. I shouldn't have worried about my phrasing. She never asked if I liked it or if it was okay. She just said she'd meet me at the counter with my ticket. She left the store before I did - confirming what I already knew. She was in a hurry to get out and did a half...way (trying to be nice here) job on me. I guess the important thing to her was to go ahead and leave for her social event. For me, her making it to her event wasn't the most important thing. For $41.00, I wanted my split ends gone - they're not. I asked for some volume at the roots - nope. I wanted my hair clean enough to wear without having to shampoo it for another 2 days - it won't last through tomorrow. And I wanted it styled in a way I liked for my meeting tomorrow - it's not. So I get to shampoo and style it again myself. Oh, I also would have appreciated some additional ideas on how I might wear my longer than shoulder length hair - again, almost no help. I don't honestly care that she, personally, is a 'minimalist' - I thought I was hiring a 'stylist'! As in, her title, of 'MASTER STYLIST'. What a waste of time and money. While part of me feels badly for calling out such a crappy job and naming the 'master stylist' responsible, another more rational thought occurred to me. My freaking hair is completely ruin Hannah did my hair and is straw is so weak I don't understand why she used 5 pounds of foil in my hair i had my hair done by professionals and they never used that much foil I don't understand why they started at 4 pm and had to put a lot of foil and leave my hair with bleach for four hour that was negligence at 930 pm she put the dye on my hair took it after ten minutes didn't let it sit very long bc the assistant manager said we all had to leave. Than it was not blow dry at the end even thought they made me pay at 9 pm before even seeing the end results and I had to leave the salon with wet half dyed hair some of my hair is orange some red, She didn't clean the dye from my face so I had to scrub my face when I got home. they didn't care they told me they had to close even when my hair wasn't finish the worst part is the bill was 248. I am extremely disappointed I left crying I have never experience such horrible costumer service they offer to fix it later but why not finish what they started. Next day I went back and Jen tried to fix my hair but it was far too damage and told me to come back, manager after insisting on a refund finally gave me a full refund. My sister in law came back later and actually after hours of conditioning got my hair to an okay stage. I do not understand why they don't hire people with more knowledge about hair. I was in a pickle. Needed to re-touch my hair before an important event and needed it ASAP. I had an appointment already set up at another salon in town until they cancelled on me THAT morning. What's a girl to do? I called nearly everyone with no luck and looked at EVERY Yelp review of every salon within 15-miles. Then I remembered Beauty Brands. I'll admit - being a new girl in town - this was not the first place that came in mind. I equate them more with supplies than services. Thankfully, they had an opening and took me that afternoon. Whew! You know how it is finding a new person to trust to do your hair. It's a bit of a stressful game of trusting strangers with your mane. Thankfully, my hair gal did a great job and really listened to my needs. The staff here was overall helpful and welcoming, and the price was affordable ($75 or so for a highlight and low-light). I'm not really rating the Beauty Brands store entirely, this is just the massage portion. My family lives in Lee's Summit but I reside in Chicago. Everytime I come home, whether it be the holidays or just a random visit, my first thought after booking my flights is... can Nicole squeeze me in for a massage? I have major back and neck pain alongside migraines. I've tried so many things over the years and really only found massages will truly solve the issue. Nicole is by far, the only one to give me relief the way I need. I have tried all types of massages and even come to fancy boutiques here in Chicago but nothing compares. She is not for the faint of heart. This is DEEP tissue that I don't imagine some people could handle but I come out feeling like a new person. I took my whole family her this past weekend and they saw Kathy, a "master stylist" and she was terrible. Neither my husband or my girls got the styles they wanted. My daughter said no bangs and she cut her bangs. They also said she was very rough, pulling their hair when she washed it and burning my daughters ear when she blow dried. There have about any services you want at three price levels according to the experience of the person performing the service. I only get hi/lo lights with foil and haircuts. I like the stylist I have and go nowhere else. I had one neck massage once when I had a migraine. I go to the one on Rice Road in Lee's Summit, MO. I was in a tight spot and was able to get in for a pedicure the same day. I thought that was good and I would be on my way afterwards. After I checked in I waited for about 10 or 15 minutes before Meredith came out to get me. When I sat down in the spa chair and put my feet into the soaking tub, my feet were met up with nearly scalding water. I quickly pulled them out and told her the water was way too hot. She proceeds to spray more hot water on my foot into the tub. It did cool down after a few seconds. Meredith was very slow doing my pedicure and she barely talked. She didn't seem real friendly. My pedicure did turn out very nice, but, my foot still stings from the hot water. read more

This review is not for "Beauty Brands" but for one of the aestheticians at this location. Mara is awesome!!! I was very hesitant to allow any one to do a brazilian wax. The last time I had one done I had bad bruising, tears in the skin, hairs left all over the place, wax left every where, and my mole nearly ripped off. Mara took her time and stayed past closing to make sure I had a good experience. It was by far the best experience I have had todate. I will definitely be booking with Mara again. If you have had bad experience do not give up. Keep in mind its a wax...waxing is a little painful, But it doesn't have to be unbearable!! Thank you Mara for being so amazing!!! read more

I have been here a few times and usually it's good but depends on the person helping you. I had my hair ombré'd and loved it! They took off way too much of my eyebrows another time. Once I arrived only to be told they meant to call but forgot, and my appointment had been cancelled by the stylist. Recently I took my daughter in to have her hair braided like Dorothy (Wizard of Oz!) and the girl who did it was great and did a really good job on her hair, but I was charged $21 for it which I thought was pretty excessive for braiding a three year old's hair. read more

I thought Beauty Brands would be a safe choice for a mani-pedi, but the results were awful. The whole thing was rushed (and a little painful), and the nail tech more or less ruined my cuticles, then painted them so they were even more noticeable! I had to use a Q-tip to remove polish from my fingers when I got home. Now it's day 2 and the edges of the mani are peeling back from my fingernail. Overall, it was a huge waste of money. I stopped in this beauty brands location today without an appointment and asked if they could get me in for a hair cut. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told that there was a "senior stylist" available shortly and it would be about 15 minutes. The cost was $32 which I thought was high but I justified that I would be getting a senior level haircut. The staff at the reception desk seemed to be uptight and gossiping about someone. I had been to this location one time previously and overheard staff talking badly about a customer, but I was so pleased with my service on that occasion I decided to give them another chance. This time as I sat and waited for my "senior stylist" and experienced this again, I decided that after this haircut I would not return to this location since that did not seem professional to me. After about a 20 minute wait, my "senior stylist " called me back. She was to the point, and asked me what I wanted. I told her and she condescendingly told me the my last haircut was crooked and asked me if I dyed my own hair. After I answered her question there was an awkward silence. She asked me if my hair was clean, I told her I had washed it several hours before. She then sprayed my hair with water and when a comb did not easily go through stated that my hair was over processed. Then she decided she was going to dry my hair first before cutting it. Then when she she was done asked me if I want it "styled". What the heck did she think she was charging $32 for ? No wash, no style, no product used, condescending attitude. This was way worse than any $10 cut I have ever had. If you are going to go to Beauty Brands, go to State Line. They are always good. I had received a gift card for beauty brands salon services for Christmas last year. I had never been to the franchise but had heard great things about it. I decided that I wanted to get a pedicure with all the bells and whistles. When I went in, the girl at the desk treated me as though I was some vagrant because I asked the differences in the different package options for a pedicure. Once I was pulled back into the back room, the woman that was doing the pedicure for me was less than pleasant and was so overbooked that she had to stop helping me to go do a hair cut if she wasn't complaining about her job and having to work due to what she considered less than ideal weather. When I finally finished, she was doing someone's hair, as I went to pay I wanted to leave a tip for her despite my experience and was unable to even locate her to do so. needless to say I gave the remainder of my gift card to someone else and never plan on returning. read more
