In my opinion it was a very bad experience. They were supposed to trim all my bushes and trees. They forgot to trim several of them and the others were done haphazardly. They ripped out flowers that were perennials because they thought they were weeds. Many areas were missing weed barrier, even though it was in the contract. The company admitted that the job needed more mulch, but because they underbid the job and was losing money, they would not provide any more mulch. They also admitted that their workers were new and not properly trained. In my opinion they harassed us for more money because they could not estimate the job properly. The owner continously told us of a toll bill for $1800 he owed to gain our sympathy. The owner assured us that he had arborists working for him but this statement appears to be false looking at the completed project. For snowplowing, they had to be constantly called and asked when they were coming out. The company provided an expired certificate of insurance to trick me into signing a contract. They tried to tell me that a car insurance certificate would be just as good. I have a copy of the car insurance certificate the company gave me. This company has had numerous people complain about their snowplowing service, but they delete all of their negative comments and 1 star reviews off of their social media pages. This company was hired by my elderly neighbor to cut her grass. She is 90 years old and has a hard time seeing and hearing. She paid them a lot of money. They rarely show up to cut her grass. They never even provided her with a receipt for her money or a contract. Her family had to get involved to help her. They refused to bag the grass clippings after they cut my lawn even though the contract stated they would. The grass looked atrocious with all the loose grass on it. The company canceled my contract and wanted to give it to his friend. He was going to pay him a fraction of what I paid him and keep the rest for himself. The pictures submitted with this review is how this company actually left my lawn. When I explained to them that is was unacceptable they proceeded to cancel my grasscutting contract. Most businesses when they get negative reviews they get upset and do everything in their power to have the reviews removed. Instead businesses should look at the negative reviews as a learning tool to improve their business and their employees. People really do not want to put down local businesses but they most certainly do not want to be taken advantage of. I paid Mike Hammer construction $24,000.00 to remove and replace my garage floor and driveway and…read moreadd some additional concrete for a patio and stairs. He was also supposed to remove and replace the cap on my front porch wall. The finish on the concrete is awful. He poured too much at one time in the summer heat and the concrete set up before they could properly finish it. It looks terrible. They spattered concrete all over my front porch stone wall, my brick and my vinyl doors. Inside the garage they raised the bucket on their Bobcat and dented my brand new garage door. During the winter the driveway lifted in front of the garage and now water and snow won't drain out of the garage. At last count 6 of the slabs have cracked in less than a year. When the job was complete I waited a month then power washed the driveway so they could apply the sealant. As I was power washing, the concrete kept washing away exposing dozens of leaves just below the surface that they troweled over. I was so discussed I had to quit washing after doing only 4 slabs. Mike said they're was so many leaves they couldn't get them all so they finished right over them. Can you believe that?? The garage floor looked so bad I had to paint it. Mike comes off as a real nice guy and his prices seem decent. Don't let that fool you. His quality SUCKS. I wouldn't trust Mike Hammer Construction to pour a pad for a dog house.

While the initial communication was great, it became incredibly un-dependable and hard to come by as the job progressed. Ultimately, it took 7 weeks to complete a 4-step project due to poor craftsmanship and multiple delays. The issues began when the initial pour completely failed inspection. The step measurements were wildly inconsistent--the top step had a 4-inch rise, while the others varied from 7.5 to 8.5 inches from step to step, and it sloped from left to right. When I brought this up, the contractor was defensive, insisting that everything they poured was "up to code" and there was nothing wrong with them. However, they later admitted the mold had been stepped on by the crew. After several communication gaps, missed timelines, and a partial refund discussion, the city inspector officially failed the steps on May 4th, stating they required a complete tear-out and replace due to the safety and rise inconsistencies.
