Notice of surcharge
Barb T.

I had a great glass of wine while waiting for a flight, watched Bills and Bengas game. Great service and fr Ii endly staff! However, sitting here reading a sign that HMS Host adds a 2% pre-tax surcharge for staff recruitment and retention. Having worked for 40+ years, I always thought additional expenses for salaries and benefits was an investment in staffing from profits? And, as a customer, no option not to pay this! Happy to tip staff generously but it bugs me when costs are passed to consumers on top of the ridiculous mark-up on alcohol!!

Stopped in - early for flight. Bruno was bartender AND HE WAS AWESOME SAUCE!! bloody Mary was on point! Many thanks for the ambiance, military discount, and GO ASTROS on the TV screen.

Came here before my flight to drink some wine, eat some veggies/bread with hummus and watch some Olympic figure skating. It was the perfect pre-flight decision! The bartender was very friendly and they had a vast selection of wine. I highly recommend going here if you have some time to kill prior to boarding your flight!

This place is amazing! Service is great and makes this feel nothing like an airport. My charcuterie was $17 and the amount that I got was amazing! Very relaxing atmosphere and the music makes it feel like I'm at a classy bar restaurant. Would recommend this place if you are stuck at the airport.

A welcome addition to the airport renovation at the airport. I had plenty of time to mellow away on my latest trip and decided to try there red wine flight. Service was good, price was decent for the airport, and it was very good. A must do when waiting for your flight.

We arrived early for our flight and decided to get some drinks while we wait. The bartender Steve is great! If I'm ever on terminal 2 again I'll be sure to stop by again :D

This time around, it was just the 3 of us, to chat over some wine and apps. Had their April featured Pinot, which was amazing (had 2 glasses). It's good to keep in mind that they only sell their flatbreads on certain days and unfortunately, they didn't serve it when we went. So, instead we had the crostinis, which is perfect if you want a little bit of everything, but not sure what to get. My friend got the chicken Caesar wrap, and it was a lot bigger than expected. As far as the ambience, there's seating all around the bar that's located in the middle. So it's convenient to just walk up to the bar to place your order. Servers and bartenders were friendly and quick. Overall this is a great laid-back place for small or large groups.

First, I still really enjoy the Carruth Wine Garden. It is nice to have an outdoor space to drink wine right in the center of the city. In general there plenty of parking ,and it is dog friendly. As far as the wine, it is very good. I like some more than others. More recently, I have enjoyed the Unicorn Red Blend ( a longtime favorite) and the Syrah. I love that it is dog friendly, inside and out. My dog loves going there and she makes friends each time. A change that they made recently is that the main garden area is now child-free, which was a positive change in my options, as it had gotten a bit chaotic in the past with children not being very well supervised. The still have a family-friendly outdoor space. In the past, there was always live music when I came. I was there most recently on a Saturday evening and was disappointed that there was no music. Also, the prices have gone up ($18 per glass). Unfortunately, I found the pours to be somewhat inadequate, though it depended which staff member was pouring the wine. They do not allow for outside food, and only make certain dishes certain days of the week, which unfortunately doesn't allow for many options if you are hungry. Water is readily available inside and outside. All in all, it is a lovely place with good wine to come with friends and your 4-legged friends. It has gotten a bit pricey, and I do wish we could bring out own snacks, but I still enjoy going and am sure that I will be back.

Then I had a steak and blue cheese flatbread. It came with soups or salad, and I had a small cup of French onion soup- good, but not remarkable. The flatbread was accidentally delivered as the blue burger flatbread with hamburger meat instead of steak. It was good, even if not what I expected. It could have used some sort of sauce between the meat and cheese and the bread- or maybe just a layer of melty blue cheese instead of the as crumbles on top? Something to help the toppings stick. My SIL had the tuna nicoise- it looked delicious and she said it was very good. The potatoes are warm- which would be a plus for me! It's a hearty bowl full of veggies including asparagus, salmon, potatoes etc. Several people ordered the shakshuka and said it was very good. It has a bit of spice, and good amount of sausage or bacon. My grandpa said the eggs were hard to find, but I think they were just baked under the sauce and layers of bacon and cheese. Service can be a bit slow- it was more than 30 minutes from when we ordered to when the food was brought out and there were few tables occupied, so be prepared to enjoy a leisurely meal here. Everything is prepared to order- it's worth the wait!

Parking in this plaza was not optimal with too few spaces for all of the businesses. The inside setup featured a compact bar with about four spots near the front entrance and several small tables. I believe there was also an outside patio adjacent to a side entrance, but I didn't venture over there to check the layout. For a kitchen of limited size, the menu was rather extensive. The categories on the two pages ranged from starters, sliders, soups, small plates, shareables, salads, flatbread, and desserts. There was also a list of the day's specials that featured eight full size entrees ranging from $22 to $38. I selected the first one from the list which was the Seafood Pasta. Fettucine noodles were cooked in an herbed tomato sauce with shrimp, scallops, salmon, and mussels. The item took about 15 minutes to be prepared. A healthy amount of parmesan cheese was grated on top of the dish. There were roughly two to four pieces of each seafood type. The sauce was light but well-seasoned from the herbs. For the serving size, I thought the $35 price tag was fair compared to upscale Italian restaurants around town. I had no qualms with giving a four star rating for my dinner at Juno's.

Delicious Italian food restaurant has ability to be both a nice-casual place for friends to get lunch all the way to a romantic special occasion dining experience, including a really cool table, flanked by their impressive wine collection. I personally did not have a favorite item on the menu anymore because I have honestly tried something different every time and the rotating seasonal specials are always fun to explore. One of my favorite things I appreciate about the menu is the transparency of ingredients used, which makes people with food allergies be able to enjoy their dining experience. For example, explaining to the server about my poor allergy, the owner happened, organically over here us, and came by the table to share that he is aware of that kind of allergy as someone of his life also is allergic to pork. As someone who has spent 30 years of their life, having people not believe that the allergy is real (damn Lonestar tick), this is extremely validating. On top of this being a wonderful restaurant, I have also frequently seen Solare at local events, including the San Diego food and Wine festival that raises money towards endangered species conservation showing that they are more than just a restaurant, they are involved in the community.

We were quickly seated only to wait 20 minutes before deciding to leave. Only water was offered. As we were walking down the street to try and catch our ride-share home, because there's no WAY one can get a last-minute reservation at any place decent on a Friday night in San Diego, I get a call from the restaurant. They apologize profusely saying it was their mistake & offered $50 off our next visit. How in the world will that make up for the fact that we are now sitting at home trying to figure out what to have delivered for dinner (we were planning to order the shrimp appetizer, salad, spinach ravioli, & Duroc pork chops, showing how long we were ignored & how large of a check they lost) instead of finishing up what was supposed to be a nice evening out. We've been to this restaurant many times but now no more.

I made a quick visit to their new San Marcos location a few weeks ago to snag some pizzas to go. As for here in Liberty Station, it's seriously a huge bonus when there's no stress to find parking, let alone having to pay for it. Yes, you may get lucky on find a spot on Sims Rd- but, there's off street parking around the bend & plenty off parking lots nearby. With more seating at the outdoor patio, which you can do plenty of people watching- I wanted to celebrate my long time friend's birthday month. Even though my friends try to weasel themselves outta picking a spot & put the decision onto me "The Trusted Yelper"... I truly enjoy when they pick where to eat. For a Friday lunch, we started off with laughter & glasses of Oberon Cabernet. The artichokes (antipasti menu) were divine!! Four fistball sized artichokes with stems attached. Thoroughly steamed and were they marinated as well? My gosh! Best artichokes ever! Infused with plenty of garlic and resting in a pool of EVOO. From the Chef's Specials: I was so close to ordering the Salmon in a Honey Mustard sauce w/ spinach, mushrooms, & grapefruit slices. I was craving grapefruit for a bit. Heck, even the scent of grapefruit rinds. And as soon as we began placing our lunch order, I switched to Squid Ink Ravioli w/ salmon & shrimp in pink sauce. And, I do NOT regret my decision at all! Great portion! The fresh squid ink ravioli was tender. Soft as cooked to perfection. Slathered in the pink sauce which seemed like a creamy Arrabbiata pasta sauce. Sprinkles of red pepper flakes. No mistake you'll feel some heat. Great count of shrimp, which I chose to cut sections of my shrimp in coat with the pink sauce. I truly wanted to enjoy every bite of this dish. I had no plans to take any leftovers home. There are no huge chunks of salmon that I could see, so I wonder if the salmon is mixed into not the ricotta cheese filling inside the ravioli? Our server was truly a gem. Simone, THANK YOU for my friend's lovely birthday tiramisu dessert! Complete with sparkling candle! We did not expect that at all!! Upon walking in, it felt like a combination of a cafe, deli, and wine bar. Two charcuterie boards and six Italian style sandwiches made up the food offerings. For beverages, wines by the glass, various beers, and wines/kombucha in a can were available. You can certainly place large orders ahead of time for catering and special events. The ladies who staffed the service counter were very cheerful. The choice for my to-go order was a Spicy Italian Muffuletta. The sandwich consisted of thinly sliced mortadella and Genoa salami, provolone, arugula, and a spread of muffuletta. A drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze was added on top along with salt and pepper. Freshly baked piabatta was the bread that was used. The item was neatly assembled and wrapped in wax paper before being sliced in half. The spread was savory while the bread was soft with a crunchy exterior. As a bonus, I was given a complimentary bag of Italian potato chips that were pesto flavored. I was glad to have those to munch on with the sandwich.
