I am so glad they were! I will be staying in a cottage from now on. Really easy process of booking and the coded locks on the doors make check in and check out a breeze.....cause there's not any! Thanks so much for the experience and I will see you guys again, hopefully soon!

But my choices are limited due the fact I am in a wheelchair. I is extremely hard to find a B&B or cottages that are wheelchair accessible, almost never. But Government Street Cottages has a REAL WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE ROOM!!!!. It is wonderfully decorated as well. Parking is great. Large bathroom, plenty of room to maneuver. Roll-In Shower. We can't wait to go back for a few days to just get away again. And the location is just down the street from great shopping, dinning and entertainment. I would recommend to bring a cooler if you plan a long visit. It has a microwave and a small fridge as you would find in most hotels (only so much room). This would give you the option of storing more food related items and drinks, especially if you bring the kiddos. Cant wait to return. You just don't find places like this offered for the wheelchair community. Great job Government Street Cottages!!!

We are one and done. Considering a move tonight! Its location is THE only thing going for this place. It is OLD. It is not well maintained. Went to Walmart for a fan as its window unit wouldn't handle the 82 degree night heat. There was condensation dripping from the ceiling. There was no shampoo. No full shower door. Two towels. Rotten steps. Dirty porch. The room was small and the bathroom smaller. If asked to describe the place in five words: "It is old and overpriced."

Recently spent 3 nights at The Hemingway. The rooms are well designed and appointed. Location is good, except for the train that roars by early am and late on the daily. Room had an ice bucket but no ice? "The Inn's" coffee shop never opened for the 3 days of my stay. The real problem with this property,Hemingway, occurred on day 2 and 3 of my stay when it was impossible to enter the property. I, and others, were left standing for over 30 minutes while "management" tried to have "someone" come over and check why the keyless entry at the property's common, and only, entry point was inoperable!! I only got in because some other guest exited the entry point. This made my dinner reservation impossible to keep and there where NO alternatives open for dinner in town!!! The owners/managers made no real apology and of course no other accommodation was offered for this inexcusable situation. At these prices you would probably be better served staying at The Roost if you are determined to stay in Ocean Springs, at The Pearl in Bay St Louis, or The Grand Hotel in Fairhope, AL.

The staff that check you in are always different so the service can be different Delton who you get. The only thing I don't like about the hotel is the horrible smell on the first floor. It smells like mildew, mold and pool chemicals ALL the time. If you stay here, DO NOT having them put you on the first floor. We've always stayed on the upper floors and this was the first time they put us on the 1st floor. As soon as we walked into the room it was a stronger chemical smell that seeped from the hallway, it was absolutely horrible. We immediately walked back out and requested a new room on the top floor. The carpet on that floor also needs to be fixed because it's pooling up in the middle and that's a tripping hazard. Besides that the location is great, right across the white sandy beaches. About 4 minutes from other restaurants, Casinos and Ocean Springs is right across the bridge.

1-star experience, but credit where credit is due…read more Unfortunately, our stay started off very poorly. We experienced consistent rude and dismissive service, including an issue with opened silverware, inconsistent drink pricing, and a restaurant manager who was completely dismissive when we attempted to provide feedback. Honestly, it made sense why his behavior and lack of care had echoed onto his staff. The front desk service also lacked basic greetings and acknowledgment. It was like they didn't know how to speak to customers. At one point, I called and asked for the manager by his first name, and the woman said, "We don't have anyone here by that name." I explained what he was wearing, and she said, "Oh, we only call him by his last name." I was just shocked. How would I know that? And how do you not know your own manager? On top of that, there was an AC leak in our room, and my mother almost slipped and fell. There was also a strong smell that seemed like mold. After we raised our concerns, hotel management did make an effort to correct the situation. They moved us to a different room and provided complimentary dinner and breakfast at Cora's restaurant as an apology for the rude service and behavior. They were unable to provide a refund because we booked through a third party. I do want to give credit where it is absolutely deserved: the food at Cora's was wonderful, and the service was excellent. Ryan, Lynn, and David genuinely saved the experience for us. They were kind, attentive, professional, and made us feel welcomed. I appreciate the efforts made to address our concerns, especially moving our room and providing the meals. However, the initial treatment and condition of the property significantly impacted our stay. Traveling with my mother, who is older, I expected basic courtesy, cleanliness, and professionalism from the beginning. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. For location and comfy beds, sure. For warm, A+ service, go elsewhere. You can absolutely enjoy the drinks and food at the restaurant without subjecting yourself or your family to the lack of care or appreciation we experienced as guests here. Cora's: wonderful food and wonderful service. Ryan, Lynn, and David were the bright spot of our stay.

The pool area was large with fun outdoor music, yard games, and beverage offerings. The service was exceptional. Staff came out to open all of the umbrellas poolside and brought out pool floaties for the kids to play with. The resort offers a yoga studio that is so cute! There was also a bar that opens in the afternoon & offers beverages, including serving your drink a plastic cup, so you could bring it poolside. While we were there, the staff was working hard to set up an oyster tasting event in the gardens. Although we did not spend the night, and we're just there for the day, I would 100% recommend and be delighted to go back. Note, the only downside was that their pool is not heated. We were visiting in April, and it was definitely a little chilly... But coming from Wisconsin, we still want swimming anyway! But it appears that the majority of hotels in that area don't heat their pools. Not expected from having usually vacationed in Florida, but fun regardless.

Not a huge issue for most but my husband and our two friends are well over six feet tall so it was a bit awkward for them. * Immediately upon entering the room it felt humid and damp, especially the bedding and the carpet in front of the A/C unit. * The wifi wasn't the greatest. We opted to just use our cellular data as it was more dependable and way less frustrating. * The breakfast buffet was open with items such as cheese and western omelettes, biscuits, sausage, gravy, and the usual continental items. Unfortunately, the pancake machine was never on/working and there was no juice provided. It wasn't great breakfast, but it got the job done. * Housekeeping never once cleaned our room. Upon inquiring about it I was informed that, due to covid, housekeeping would not be cleaning rooms while guests were checked in. Towels, toiletries, etc. have to be gotten from the front desk by guests. This was never communicated to us before our stay and would have been great to know beforehand. I have no problems with covid regulations and encourage everyone to keep themselves and employees safe, however, if covid is a concern here then why is the breakfast buffet open, and why aren't the staff and guests required to wear masks? *Parking is an absolute nightmare! If you're driving an SUV or a truck, you're going to have a heck of a time. If you want a parking spot then get back to the hotel super early, otherwise, you'll be parking at the Days Inn next door. Overall, it wasn't the worst hotel experience I've ever had. But, for $500, I definitely expected better.
