No appointments necessary for that stuff, though if you are bringing things like paint or hazardous waste, you will need to make an appointment online. Many things are free to recycle, some have a fee. I paid $5 to recycle a tire on a previous trip. The line of cars is usually pretty long but moves more quickly than you'd expect. Once you're in the building, attendants let you know where you can put your items. Drive out the other side of the building and exit the way you came in. Easy process, and there are a few less items in the landfill!
