They bought out our old garbage company, that previous company would unhook our garbage cans because there are animals that will take said garbage, not Casella, they leave the straps on, so on garbage nights we unhook our garbage cans and hope for the best. But now, they announce they "changed" the garbage day, but really stopped getting the garbage at all, after 2 and a half weeks we called, they came and took only the garbage, left the recycling, it's the 3rd week and they still haven't come. It's 3:00 pm, I'm walking around my block, seeing garbage cans with the Casella stickers still aren't touched, with bags piling up. What are y'all doing??? read more

The WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. I started residential garbage pickup with them Nov 26th & needed a couch picked up also. It's now JANUARY 7TH & the couch is still sitting on my front lawn!! I look like straight trash with a couch on my lawn for 6 weeks! I've called every week & they tell me the same thing "I'm so sorry I can't believe that haven't picked it up yet, I'll make sure they come tomorrow." Well first they moved me to "top priority" then when that line didn't work anymore they started saying tomorrow. I finally said just refund my money I'm cancelling your horrible service & they told me they can't. I now have the Christmas tree out there too which it's going on a week now for that! Idk how they run a business like this. read more

Don't use them!!! They bought up several smaller companies and they are ran by a corporate office with absolutely no customer service support. Spent 3 hours on hold to cancel because you can't do that online. Double billing and then refusing to return it. Route for pickup is Wednesday, but trash isn't picked up until Monday or Tuesday. Price increased with no prior warning to double what I was paying. Next, they added a credit card fee of 3%. Then they changed the billing date and said I am behind, despite pulling money out of my account monthly. Refusing to refund and because you pre-authorize your debit card, the banks can't dipute it unless Casella answers the phone, which they don't. 3 months of being billed $172, and they don't see their own billing error and told me I was at fault for it being unpaid. Found a new company with real people, not a corporate scam. Look at how much their CEO makes and tell me how they make that much... read more

the absolute most unprofessional business i have ever had to deal with i have to sit on my porch at 5 am to make sure they take my trash if I'm not outside they won't take it, i spent 60$ in trash tags for them to leave my garbage on the street till the next week when the garbage is now doubled. The woman that drives the downtown Ithaca route at 5am Thursday morning on green St. is very rude lazy and does not help out her coworker who is a very young kid that lifts all those garbage cans by himself, while she gives him orders form the comfortability of the driver's seat, myself and about 4 more households on this block are currently changing garbage companies, save yourself the stress an anxiety and do not get service through these people! read more

The worst customer service ever. 1 star is too many. No trash pickup for 2 months. We call. They have a script that goes like this: I see you have called before. I will have someone call you back. they never call. Email response is always: I see you called and spoke with someone. we're closing this case. Save your sanity. Call a different company. read more

I have had business with these people for years. They have always got paid. I went on maternity leave and paid 3 bills back to back. one of my payments didn't go through for some reason. they stopped dumping my dumpster and said they won't dump it till they get the one payment that didn't go through. so basically they don't have to do there job but I still have to pay them. they have tripled my bill since I started going through them and they only dump it when they want. no schedule as they say. I told them to get the dumpster off my property and I will take my business elsewhere. Absolutely the worse service ever! read more

Casella never picked up the trash today July 22, 2025 and I've paid my bill for a full yr. I tried calling the office 5 times only to be put on hold for over 20 min. each time. read more

Things have been going pretty well lately I hope I don't jinx it. The only reason I gave them 3 stars and not 5 is because for a long while they would skip my house. Sometimes I got a reason why other times I didn't. When I would call them to hopefully fix the issues they didn't care. It's been good past few months though so I'm hoping it continues to stay that way. If it ever gets as bad as it was for us I think I'll have to drive our trash to the dump every week ourselves. That was a headache. One might wonder why I don't give it a good rating if it seems better now... well that's bc they have been highly inconsistent and I don't trust it will stay that way. If it stays consistent I'll gladly give them a better review. I appreciate the work they do, when it's done. read more

These people are crooks and so disorganized! After my bill being triple in less than a few years I decided to let them go. It took them several months to pick up totes. After they picked them up about ten days later their corporate office called me asking where the totes were. After I told them you picked them up they sent me a $222.48 bill! I will be posting this on every possible site in the university and also contracted my lawyer! read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. Get another garbage service if you can. Last week they made at least 4 mistakes handling my account and garbage service resulting in them not picking my garbage for a week after service was restored and numerous promises they would get a truck out to pick it up. Their final excuse was that their truck broke down. So...they only have one truck? They took over a couple of other companies who were equally as bad so I should have seen the writing on the wall. They won't accept accountability for their screw ups and tell you things just to get you off the phone. I will be getting rid of them as my garbage service the minute I find another company. read more

1star rating is. Being very generous. They are terrible. Half the time they don't pick up our garbage. It's totally infuriating. I've never dealt with a company so bad . read more

It's so cliche to give a utility-like company a 1* review, but unfortunately it's warranted. The crews provide very unreliable and poor service. They routinely throw the cans about or leave the garage entirely if they have some gripe. Of course if the garbage is not bagged well or is inappropriate for pickup they should leave a note, but that's not the case here. There is never a good reason to throw a customers garbage can 15-20 ft from where they were placed. The customer service dept is not interested in taking legitimate complaints and attempting to alter the quality of service. They often just disclaim any responsibility or try to transfer you to a different agent/department. If you have a choice, I recommend finding another company. Though tbh, the other options in the area may be even worse, sadly. If you're Casella reading this, don't celebrate, that bar is super low... read more

We've paid the monthly fees and placed our trash out the day before pickup for the past two weeks and they haven't picked it up. We've placed two tags on the can. We've called them two weeks in a row asking why they haven't. Their reply is we'll check on that and call you back. They never call back. We called back and then they say they'll see if anyone is still out and have them come by a pick it up. No one shows up. So far for the whole month of January we've only had them come once to collect our garbage. read more

I agree with others on giving zero stars to this company. They are a monopoly in the business and act accordingly. I have been overcharged for services in the past and had additional "late fees" added to my invoices despite the fact that I am on autopay. Just this week the trucks forgot to collect my totes that were out for collection and they refused to come back and collect so I am now needing to do a dump run despite paying for Casella services. I highly recommend supporting your local trash and recycling collection services if possible, consider paying slightly more for a local provider that won't treat you like you are irrelevant. I am happy to share the nasty email correspondence I have received from their "customer service" reps if anyone wants to know how they treat their customers. Avoid at all costs! read more

well well well look what we have here another terrible pick up by Casella. As a caregiver I find completely unprofessional and disrespectful to display the contents of my trash on the road. Horrible service re: picking up trash. We have on numerous occasions have not have our trash picked up. This company trash service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

They miss pick ups. THE ONLY THING I PAY THEM FOR. When you call there will be no attempt to rectify. They have failed to provide requested documentation. They have sent inaccurate bills that without catching we would have been overcharged and erroneously charged. MULTIPLE TIMES. Seems like a scam where they send extra bills to their accounts and hope most people don't pay attention and pay for nothing. Most recently they have sent a past due bill for several months of services already rendered, citing their retroactive increase in fees. Insane and infuriating. "Show me in the contract where that is not allowed" direct quote from the combative and unprofessional customer service. Horrible service at every possible step. Pick any other company your life will be better. At best casella is a waste of money at worst a probable scam. Shame on the name Casella. You set out to have your name be synonymous with garbage and you have succeeded in that regard. Your company IS garbage. read more

We have been a Casella customer for number of years and pay our bill in-full and on time. We pay for trash to be picked up weekly and recycling every other week, unfortunately that is not the service we receive. We call customer service, not once in a while, but constantly and report that our trash and/or recycling has not been picked up. This week we had one toter and a large trash bin full of recycling - this is two weeks' worth of recycling that was not picked up when scheduled. The recycling finally got picked up, but not the trash! Called customer service at 5:45 p.m. and was told my trash was picked up 20 minutes ago! I don't know whose trash got picked up, but it wasn't mine! I was told it would be picked up today - spoke with about 3 customer service representatives today, now were being told Monday the trash will be picked up. This doesn't happen once in a while it happens CONSTANTLY! By far the worst trash removal company we have ever done business with. read more

While the dumpster may have been delivered where and when agreed, the customer service is next to useless. The amount billed after pickup was incorrect and when I called and spoke with 2 different reps, neither could help me calculate the amount billed. One even told me that the tax on $114.75 was the $21+ difference. WHAT? Also would not geek the $25 discount advertised on their own page because we didn't ask for it when we made the initial contact. Nowhere does it say when we have to ask or that we even HAVE to ask to receive the discount. When I asked about the "enviro fee" and how that is calculated, I was referred to their website and told all the information is explained there. Still looking for it on the website. Will not use this company again. While the amount I am trying to reconcile may not be a great deal of money, it is the principle that the representatives could not explain and have no idea how to work through the math on the billing statement Very unhappy with the poor level of customer service (or dare I say dis-service?). read more

Constant price increases without notification to customers. When I started the service two years ago they said it would be $38 plus tax - that ended up at $48 initially and then within months jump to $54 without notification. And then a year later it's up to $64 again without notification. When I called Cassella to cancel they asked why and I said it's simple the service is way over priced approximately double what was needed. It's easy to get service for a third of what Cassella is charging. In fact there is directly competing services at half the price Casella is charging. Worse is that they have no local contact read more

I would give them 0 stars if it was possible. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. The pick-ups are extremely inconsistent and they don't tell you when they are going to be late. It's not just late by a day, sometimes it's a week later. No courtesy call, nothing. We experienced price increases constantly. Our normal bill was $85 and we would randomly get charged $160. I called to find out about the increase and ironically enough, it was always due to extra trash. No courtesy call to let you know the bill is larger than you expect it to be and then you get charged extra for your extra trash. We asked for our dumpster to get picked up over 6 weeks ago and it still sits in our driveway. I have spoken with multiple people who have told me 3 different times it would be picked up that day. Last week I was assured it would get picked up this week and there it sits! Worst customer service EVER. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

i have been with this company for go over 8 years and its time to move on they only pick up the tote and god forbid you put a black garbage bag next to the tote they just leave it and go. i called and was told i have to call them ahead of time and let them know that i will be putting out a garbage bag and how many. not satisfied withthe service they provide they leave my totes out on the street.do not recomend them and i'm goiung to encourage all my neighbors frends and family to also get rid of these people. i give them 00000000000000 stars read more

Not worth one star. They did property damage, 1st excuse dumpster in a S#!++¥ spot, they put it there and been there for 3 yrs! 2nd excuse they don't like residential dumpsters, then why am I paying you? They did send someone to fix it but was clear they don't respect or want their customers, just their $$. Now we are 6 weeks with no service. 3 pickups missed. Call and just get excuses and false promises. They said dumpster not accessible from snow, we haven't had more than a 1/2" of snow and none on their pickup dates. Lies! No drivers, training drivers, slow drivers. Told it would be picked up on three other makeup dates and nothing! They can't even swap around routes to pick up 1/2 the time. Poor management. They have no communication when the change pickup dates, don't call if they can't pickup (because of snow that doesn't exist), saying they will call at 8am and they don't call nor pick up. Been patient, but they will lie, give excuses or ignore you. read more

AVOID this company at all costs. Wish I could give it a zero. Their customer service is terrible. They missed my trash yesterday so I called and was told to leave it outside to be picked up and that "no news is good news." Six hours later it was still on the street (my neighbors get very cranky if cans are left all day) and I called again. This time Kim told me to leave it over night, it would be picked up first thing in the morning. It wasn't, so I called first thing the next day. Brandon told me the driver knew about it and they were just starting their route (at 8 a. m.? they start much earlier). Six hours later when it still wasn't picked up Terri said "They're not in your area today and won't be till next Tuesday. We can pick it up for you then." You mean my REGULAR trash day? Gee thanks. Asked to speak to whomever is in charge of customer service and was told I was not allowed to. What kind of company says that? Crazy. Try Alternative Waste. Or anyone else. read more

WORST GARBAGE COMPANY EVER!!! My garbage has been out by road for over 4 weeks. Every time I call, I am reassured that it will be picked up. 5 times I have been told this. My bill was paid through, therefore there is no reason it should be sitting out front still. At this point I think they're purposely not picking up our garbage. I have been very patient, this is ridiculous!!!! I only had this company because they bought out the company I had. I DO NOT RECCOMEND GOING WITH CASELLA!! The company's home pick up is a joke... we're a familof four with 2 kids under the age of 4... (lots of diapers) Every week i have some sort of slip stating why my trash was not removed..., this has been going on for months... I now have a large pile of trash built up in one bay of my garage in spite of spending hundreds of dollars on service fees and tags... on weeks there are holidays the trash is expected to be out days before or after the regular day... there is a six bag a week limit witch would be 24 bags a month right so f you didn't take it last week due to Holliday fuckery n I put it all out this week should I not be entitled to 12 bags.... then there is the cans to heavy pink tag... now they can refuse pickup because they didn't take it last week, it got rained on adding weight. Why am I responsible for this when I have paid all my bills, bought your stupid tags and put it out for collection. I still have to now go purchase a dump pass and rent a truck so I can avoid spending hundreds more dollars on a dumpster I'm sure will not be emptied timely so as the contents again become soaked with rain water and then I will be over charged for a excessive weight limit on the dumpster.... Bottom line you scumbags are garbage men..., take the F'ing trash away like you are more than over compensated for.... p.s suing them for theft of service fees and vandilsume as there stupid slips have now covered the can lids with unremoveable stickers and glue... and I still have a pile of trash sitting in my garage witch has cause skunks n opossums to dig out the concreat at the garage door thresholds... I know but it happend... any one handing one of these lazy worthless excuses for a waste management workers a overly needed beating will have a bottle of whiskey sent to there home with a thankyou note atached... read more

Casella has a monopoly on trash pickup here in Tompkins County with only Dougs as an alternative. I will be giving Dougs a call soon as Casella continuously disappoints. I have to call them every few months when they fail to pick up my garbage. No reason given which is peculiar. They usually send someone right out and are polite on the phone but I shouldn't have to call them as much as I do. Last week, the day before Thanksgiving, they made their pick ups at 8am when they usually stop by at 2pm. I didn't have my trash out yet.
