I sat at a little table next to the window and was brought my order. The cinnamon bun was really soft and had a lovely flavor. The chai was sweet and didn't have too much spice but I enjoyed it! Overall the vibe of the cafe itself is really cute and they have plenty of baked goods, hot and cold beverages, and savory options to appeal to a reasonable palate. I've been back a couple more times since this occasion to try more baked goods and get a hot chocolate! I've always been very pleased by my experience and will continue to return!

It was lacking in carrot flavor and was denser than I'd prefer. However, I did enjoy the big chunks of nuts and raisins. Well she wasn't wrong. We arrived about 2pm on a Saturday and it was really busy. We were welcomed by the lovely friendly staff and told we would probably need to wait 5 mins for a table. We made good use of our waiting time looking at the menu. So many tasty choices, perfect place for breakfast or brunch as loads of breakfast choices. We soon got our seats and staff quickly cleaned the table for us. We ordered chilli nachos and drinks. Whilst we waited we chatted and checked out the decor, lots of lovely nik naks and pictures. My fav things were the stunning bright plastic chandeliers and the bird cage lamp shades (check out my photos) The food arrived, the nachos came in a bowl with sour cream, guacamole, jalapeños, salsa and a good amount of cheese. The salsa and guacamole were fresh and homemade and we're full of taste. We then shared cakes, we had a blueberry loaf and Victoria sponge. Both were homemade and really tasty. (Now i'm just meshing childhood villains together... you get my point). I do not like cupcakes. USUALLY. I knew it had great reviews, but it wasn't really on my radar until I saw their display cake and the PRETTIEST cupcakes that ever there were. So I went in and against my better judgement - I bought a cupcake. Real talk revised: I do not like cupcakes UNLESS they're from Cuckoos. Holy heck Batman, that's a fine cupcake! I went with the Sticky Toffee one, because since moving here, I realize that anything Sticky Toffee is going to be damn good and damn good it was. The icing was a bit much for me - i've never been a big icing gal, but everything under that layer was pure joy. Pure. Cupcake. Joy. Not to mention, they are basically a instagrammers dream... if you remember to take a picture before inhaling the thing, the staff are the sweetest and they offer gluten free options, online ordering and the minor detail that won me over: the boxes have individual holes for each cupcake, so when you're balancing two boxes on your way to a 9am meeting, you don't end up with smushed cupcakes upon arrival. They obviously think this stuff through and it shows in everything they do. I adored the lime, poppyseed, and blueberry roulade! It was gone before the soup and toastie sandwich arrived. Crispy on the outside and so very soft and tasty on the inside. The cookie pie was impressive, but I honestly liked the roulade so much better. The soup today was broccoli and it was delicious! I had a ham and cheese sandwich lightly grilled in a panini press. Mom had a chorizo sandwich. The ladies at the bakery were lovely! Friendly happy folk always make food taste better! The bakery was quiet and not busy at 12:30 pm. It wasn't empty, just not busy. We got a table for 3! It was funny (and also a sad commentary on humans) that the still water available said "Please turn the tap off." Silly people. Thank you so much for a wonderful lunch! Mom said very good! Very different!

Maybe it's because it has a rather nondescript storefront or maybe it's because I walk and tweet too often to notice sweet little cafes right in front of my dang eyes, but today, while walking and tweeting, if I hadn't nearly ran into their sign out front, I daresay I would have missed it again. I'm pretty glad that I didn't. First and foremost, I tip the hat to free wifi. You'd think this would be pretty standard in most cafes by now but it's really not. So kudos for quickly jumping on the out of office office list for my work from home ways. Plus, the place has an airy, minimalistic feel with lots of natural light - perfect for those afternoons where I've seen the inside of my house and the front of a computer for far far too long. But what's a decent wifi signal without good grub, so for the sake of "research", I had my second lunch today here. I ordered a salami & roasted tomato on focaccia sandwich and a custard tart to take away... because research should always include dessert. The sandwich was tasty. Not a standout in any means but a solid, wouldn't kick it out of the kitchen sandwich. But where these folks won me was in their custard tarts. I already see an addiction taking root, which is dangerous as I already have a few pretty strong pastry addictions with other spots in the neighbourhood. The tart was delicious without being too sweet and I'd definitely suggest it. I'll have to hold my comments on the coffee until my next trip in. Printworks has the word coffee in their name and are at least making an effort to take it seriously. It uses Monmouth beans and it's better than average but it doesn't really come close to the more serious Edinburgh coffee places such as Artisan Roast, BrewLab etc. Flat white had good flavour but just lacked a bit of depth and precision. I'm always willing the coffee to be great and I'm always just a tad disappointed. There is a selection of paninis and soups. It would be nice if they had a few healthier options, but my chicken and pesto panini had a nice golden crunch. Cakes and pastries from local bakeries looked tempting. Its a small but bright space, pleasant enough for a spot of lunch provided it's not too busy. It's not perfect but for now it's still probably the best coffee your going to get in this part of town so it edges into 4 star territory.
