Not my type of desert but I think what I was expecting was a fluffy filled puff. My original puff with vanilla was flaky and dry so not just fell apart when eating. They just took them out of the ovens as well so I was surprised. Either way it's an average desert. read more

I normally would rate beard Papa a 5 stars but they ran out of the favorite strawberry filling so we had to settle for the plain vanilla, which is obviously not my favorite but it's a classic nonetheless. We got the Sakura matcha (it was pretty good), the strawberry shortcake (it was good), the ube eclair (tied for best one with the creme brulee & the mango custard drink (it was ok). Although I've passed by their shop several times, my family and I finally made the plunge to come in and give them a try. Definitely made a strong first impression with their variety of cream puffs, the taste, and the ability to customize/build your puffs. A solid option for a sweet treat in the area. This location of Beard Papa's is located in the Victoria Gardens shopping center in Rancho Cucamonga. There is plenty of parking shared among the businesses in this outdoor mall to make access to this establishment simple. The store itself has indoor seating for customers to enjoy their treats. At the time of my visit, they had a few customers eating in and several taking their dessert on the go. Staff during our visit were professional and patient with questions. They were also efficient with fulfilling orders. We ended up ordering two cream puffs: - Ube Eclair with Green Tea filling - Strawberry Shortcake Eclair with Vanilla filling Both were very tasty and true to flavor. The Ube Eclair with Green Tea filling was my favorite of the two as both flavors are typically my go to whenever offered. The fillings were light and not too sweet. They complemented the eclairs perfectly. The Green Tea, in particular, had the perfect amount of flavoring without it being an overpowering taste of green tea. The Strawberry Shortcake eclair was also very good. I would order both again without any hesitation! Beard Papa's was the perfect way to end our family dinner night. My daughter and I popped in here on a whim because we had a sweet tooth. I've never heard of this place and had no idea what to order Ordering is via kiosk. Folks working are working. They're busy making puffs and drinks. I did have a question about the custard drink and one of the ladies was very kind and described what's in it (not much, milk + the flavor you order). We ordered the Oreo custard drink and the honey butter puff with vanilla custard filling. While we were waiting, the couple next to us got their order and it was the ube puff with ube ice cream. I wish we ordered that. The custard didn't sound too good once I saw that. The drink was good. Perfectly Oreo. And I never feel like a milky drink is refreshing but somehow this one was. I don't know why I waited so long to try this place out. While I was hanging out at Victoria gardens we stopped in to finally give this place a try. The bright space lifted a smile and we made our selections. Chocolate, churro, ube, strawberry, honey & butter, frozen mango, Oreo, green tea, crispy almond. You can choose your filling flavor which consists of regular cream or ice cream. We chose original and strawberry shortcake puff both with vanilla filling. Wow! Freshly made, a nice little crunch to it and filled to the brim with filling. A change of scenery from the norm of dessert options. The sweet pastry smell permeates in this little shop. Large cream puffs or mini sizes. Boba drinks are also available. Small plates knives and forks if you plan to eat inside. Friendly, efficient service! I happened to be at Victoria Gardens to pick up some flip flops from JCPenney. I've been wanting to grab some Coastal Cane sugarcane juice. As I was walking towards the Victoria Gardens Food Hall, I noticed Beard Papa's at the corner right outside next to the food hall entrance. I've read about them through the Yelp events, but haven't yet tried them. So guess where I went next after Coastal Cane? That's right... right here LOL. It's a very bright yellow and comfortable shop with good inside seating. They weren't too busy at the time of my visit which is perfect for me so I can take more photos. I really didn't know what they specialize in until I walked up to the counter... basically creme puffs with your preferred choice of filling. What a cool concept! I asked the nice ladies behind the counter, what was their best seller? Honey & Butter was the answer so that's what I got with vanilla filling. The creme puff was very tasty, but the vanilla filling was a tad light in the sweetness. I'm a sweet tooth! After eating my creme puff, I decided to order a couple more to go for my daughters. Before deciding on the filling, I got to try a free sample of the chocolate and matcha green tea fillings... they were both very good... sweetness was better. Thank you! I ended up gettting the ube with vanilla filling for my eldest daughter and oreo with chocolate filling for my youngest daughter. Both my daughters enjoyed and liked their creme puffs very much. Missed the experience to get to try in Japan, so was glad to stumble upon a location here in Victoria Gardens! Got a few flavors to try with the fam: Ube Eclair w/ Vanilla Filling, Oreo Eclair w/ Cookies & Cream Filling, and the Original w/ Vanilla. For the original, super fluffy and airy, yet crispy pastry. On the inside, a chilled and generous amount of cream that is the perfect amount of sweet. Custard texture with an almost ice cream like flavor. For the eclairs, the flavored chocolate coating on top contributed a little more of a bite and were super yummy as well! Found this place when searching for desserts near Rancho- it's in Victoria Gardens, so great location. The place itself is cute, but small. We walked in and there were 2 men working, they weren't super busy, but there was a sign on the register to order at their kiosk. It was our first time there and we would have loved recommendations. We ended up going with a variety pack, and then ordered 2 ice cream puffs, a tea with boba and 2 custard drinks. The cream puffs themselves were fresh, and the cream (both chocolate and vanilla) was tasty. Our favorite was probably the strawberry shortcake puff with strawberry ice cream. We are giving 3 stars because the flavors just left you wanting more, and honestly, the service was lacking. They just put everything on the counter and you have to be paying attention or you won't notice they "completed" your order. It took a long time as well, but if you like cream puffs, I would definitely say to stop by if you're in the area. They weren't our favorite treat (considering Victoria Gardens has a lot to choose from), but glad we at least gave them a try. read more

The staff is not overly friendly at all. They're young and they barely pay attention to you long enough to take your order. When I inquired whether there was a box price for choosing a selection, I was told that it was per piece. Big mistake! More people would order a box then per piece. There should be some price cut if you order 4, 6, 10, 12.... Additionally, I was surprised that the green tea filling was not sweet at all, like no sweetness. And I am very sensitive to sugar. The chocolate filling is good. My son wanted to try the vanilla filling but at $4.25 each ($5.45 with tax and tip) we only got three. They have a few other fillings, but all they had today was chocolate, what they called green tea, which is a very strong, Matcha, unsweetened filling and vanilla. We also ordered custard Matcha shake. It is a little sweeter than the filling, thankfully. I was really looking for a jasmine tea with a cheese cap and Boba. No such luck. And they were out of Boba. My son bought a pricey bottle of plain water. Out of boba, only three filling flavors on a Saturday an hour after opening! This location is not very well equipped with personnel or inventory. I was very disappointed after I drove 45 minutes to come here. I saw this company on Instagram and decided to pay them a visit . I think I will make my own cream puffs or go to a bakery. They have many options for different kinds of cream puffs and they also offer drinks. They also have a new ice cream puff that just released when we were visiting. The cream was nice and sweet in contrast to the much less sweet pastry, exactly how a cream puff should be! Deducting 1 star because they're decent sized, but still pricey for what you get, and you have to order by kiosk, which I always find weird and impersonal (and this is coming from a very introverted person!). read more

It wasn't too sweet or overbearing and the cream was just sweetly flavored! The makeup of this cream puff however was hard to eat. When you bite into it, it squishes the cream out of the sides which makes it very messy. The breading also breaks apart when you bite into it, so I recommend having napkins or a sink nearby to wash your hands after. We tried cutting into it, but because it was cold, it was too hard with the plastic knife. Overall would go back to try other flavors! read more

Worst customer service and food. Store opens at 11 am, my son and I were there at 11:10 am. Upon entering all the chairs were still inverted on top of all the tables; a serious safety issue. My son proceeded to the kiosk and ordered 8 cream puffs with various fillings. After placing order we were told by the worker that they didn't have the honey butter puffs and they only had chocolate and vanilla filling. The worker then motion to the case and said that's all the puffs they had. NOTHING WAS FRESH!! He proceeded to refund the 3 honey butter puffs and made the remaining puffs with the only fillings they had. To this day, the refund still hasn't shown up in my bank account!!! A very interesting concept! I've always grown up loving cream puffs so I wanted to try these out when I was in the area. I got the Ube Eclair with Vanilla filling while my boyfriend got the Oreo Cookie Crumble Eclair with Vanilla ice cream filling! I honestly forgot if the ice cream was a limited time thing or not, but it was obviously somehing that needed to be eaten right away. I found the shell on top was a lot sweeter than I thought, so I might have to try out the originals next time. I'd probably even get the minis to make it easier! It's been a good few years since my local Beard Papa closed down in Rowland Heights. So, I was happy to see that a branch had opened up recently in the Victoria Gardens next to the Food hall. It's a Japanese brand that specializes in cream puffs. You order by the shell pastry type then the filling. I chose to get 2 original shell with vanilla and chocolate. They expanded their shell variety by adding green tea, s'mores, strawberry, and honey butter. The creme puffs are pricey but the size is a good amount, about the size of a tennis ball. The filling is not too sweet and the consistency is not runny, reminds me of pudding consistency. The shell does not get soggy quickly and they fill the inside it completely. The staff is nice.
