I added Cake Among Us to my list of places to try after someone showed me one of the donuts they brought to work. I do not remember the exact donut, but it looked visually appealing and mouthwatering. I made it a mission to stop by immediately after work that same day. I went after school around 3 pm and was immediately greeted by a worker. I was surprised to see the shop empty... it was just the worker and me! I explained that it was my first time, and they kindly walked me through all the different options. There were so many to choose from that it was actually difficult to narrow down my picks. They all looked so yummy! In the end, I walked out with a Nutella donut and a Fruity Pebbles donut. I usually find that bakeries and donut shops selling these types of specialty donuts tend to upcharge or be fairly expensive. However, the donuts here were reasonably priced! First of all, I almost never write reviews -- but after my experience at Cake Among Us, I feel absolutely compelled to speak up. I was genuinely excited to try this place for the first time. Their reviews looked amazing, and the fact that they make vegan cakes seemed perfect. I even stopped by the shop beforehand to try a vegan donut just to get a sense of their quality, and honestly, it was pretty good. So I went ahead and placed my cake order online exactly as the staff instructed. They called to confirm the details and to take the $100 payment for the custom cake -- which I was totally fine with if the cake turned out the way it was supposed to. But when I arrived to pick it up, I was shocked: the cake was the wrong color. I double-checked my confirmation email and the form I filled out, and yes, I had very clearly listed my preferred colors. I called immediately to let them know about the mistake. They told me to email a photo, which I did -- and then they proceeded to blame me for not mentioning the colors over the phone, even though the information was already written in their form, which they had right in front of them. And it gets worse: not only was the cake the wrong color, it was literally leaning over by the time I went to cut it. A $100 custom cake that looked like it was collapsing. And what did they do to make it right? Nothing. No apology, no solution -- just more blame tossed back at me for their own oversight. So here's my honest advice: go somewhere else for your cake. Their customer service desperately needs improvement, and if you do decide to risk it with this place, make sure you repeat every single detail multiple times, because apparently writing it clearly on their own form isn't enough -- and they'll still blame you for their mistakes. read more

The young chubby lady inside seemed completely disinterested in helping or answering any questions and wasn't interested in hearing about my design or providing flavors or any other options. I asked about setting up a sample tasting (was willing to pay) and was told to buy cupcakes to taste them. There were like 5 old looking cupcakes in the display and none were the flavor we wanted. I walked out and they missed out on a huge sale because we were looking to spend up to 1k for a special birthday party. Also, it was really hot and musty inside and the display was really sad looking. Major turn off. It's a shame because I used to buy donuts from here every Friday for my employees. Also got a vegan pistachio donut, which I didn't really care for, since it was a cake style donut. Would love to see traditional yeast style vegan donuts. Was a little irritated when I noticed a 4% extra charge for using my credit card instead of cash. My coworker's birthday was last month. On the day we were supposed to celebrate his b-day, he had to eat vegan for personal reasons. Hence, I wanted to surprise him with a vegan cake. I found Cakes Among Us in Rancho Cucamonga who makes vegan donuts and cakes. It's a cute and simple shop. I had to order the vegan cake 2 weeks ahead which was fine. I went with a vegan strawberry cake with vegan cream plus real strawberries. I didn't know vegan cakes cost that much... my vegan cake came out to be $65+, but that's okay... once in a lifetime thing LOL. It was a tall cake. Unfortunately, it was very dense and kinda dry IMHO. The cream didn't help as it was dense, too. Cake wasn't bad, but I prefer my cakes to be moist. I wanted to surprise my team with a different breed of donuts. So I got some vegan donuts, too LOL. They had strawberry, pumpkin, and vanilla based donuts. Vanilla is very bland IMHO. The other two were very good so that's what I got. I hear they have pistachio based, too, but it's seasonal. My team rated the vegan donuts from 3.5 to 4 stars which was fair. Everyone is allowed their own perspective. I welcome all perspectives... I may not agree with all of them, but I'll hear them out LOL. Staff was very friendly and pleasant. Very helpful in answering my questions. Thank you so much Juan! Prices were a bit higher than what I would have liked, but we are dealing with a different breed, vegan, so perhaps the higher prices are justifiable.
