A bit of a disappointment since I had this franchise in Los Angeles. The fill was good but the cream puff itself is a bit over cooked. The honey and butter shell was hard for a cream puff. I fact all the cream puff shells all had a bit of a crunch to it. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the ice cream filling but the vanilla was good. Was able to come in the middle of the day on a Wednesday with no wait. Was very disappointed in the availability of flavors! Not because they ran out but because they only make certain flavors on certain days. Cashier was confusing in explaining what was available and what wasn't, could have easily just said you only have original shells with only vanilla and matcha available rather than such and such being available on certain days. I'm not here to collect them all on various trips. Their to go box is a trap!!!! Watch out cause whoever is assembling them can't even fold flaps together correctly, the bottom becomes undone and nearly gave way and I would've lost a dozen cream puffs. I liked the flavor of the vanilla - very Japanese, light flavor and the shell was crisp and light even after over night. I thought it was a bit expensive though. I'd rather have something smaller around $2 - 2.50. I'd be more tempted to buy a dozen for the office, etc. I went around 4 on the 4th day of opening and they only had the regular shell and vanilla and green tea filling. I understand the limited variety but with that I expected the service to be faster. There were about 5 parties in front of me, so why wait for the orders before you start filling shells. I had really high hopes for them with all the positive reviews but overall agree with the various visitors that rate them just OK for what is given at the price point. The area has been transformed and it provides various Asian themed specialties with some of the regulars like bubble egg and H-mart. The concept of the bakery is fairly straight forward as you choose a type of puff and the cream filling to add to it. These will set you back a bit as even a half dozen runs over 20$. I tried the chocolate and cream, green tea, honey and mango on plain. Although the cream was great and fresh the puff itself was fairly plain. I think it was more so a one time visit for me but if you really enjoy puffs it is worth trying one just wouldn't buy a bunch for a party or event based on the ones I tried. read more

I drove a long way down to support my favorite dessert but was met with rudeness of the staff, shouting over me that I couldn't bring shopping cart into the store (which I just parked inside by the door before walking in to the counter) The inside seating area wasn't open for dine-in and there were no other customer but my friend and I. Naturally, I apologized, because I didn't know that I couldn't bring the cart in, as there was no sign whatsoever outside, and started to place my order ( thinking he was asking me not to do so for the next time) but they refused to serve me and insisted that I have to push my cart out because it would cause them to disinfect the whole place again. Although annoyed, I had promised my kids the puffs, I went to push the cart out, and went back in to buy some for them (!) The service alone wasn't what gave 1 star review, but the puff quality today was far inferior from when this branch started. Some of the puffs were deformed and over inflated. Some parts of the crust were dry and split from main body in a big lump, like they were baked for too long or at wrong temperature. Totally off the brand. I am a hardcore Beard Papa's fan who wanted to support this franchise within my reachable distance (1 hr drive is far more doable than 17 hrs flight to Japan). love the exterior crunch and the soft creme. super super addictive and fun to eat. downside is that these puffs aren't cheap and they don't have that many interesting flavors out. most of their flavors are super basic. it'll be great if they get a bit creative with their fillings like what they do in asia. read more

The line was pretty long, but I didn't expect anything less since it just opened. When I got to the register, I realized why the line took so long. The staff was explaining all the options and answering questions. I actually didn't mind this because I think it is necessary especially for a new place. You pick your outside dip flavor which were green tea, chocolate, honey and butter, original, or strawberry and then you pick your filling which were green tea, vanilla, or ice cream. They ran out of the ice cream option and had a limited creme brûlée option. The puffs are made right in front of you and were super quick. It was so delicious. The bread part was flakey and so fresh. 'Had to reduce rating on day #7 due to very poor planning (or whatever the cause is for not having anything but original puffs at 2pm). We were told that until they get better organized in these early days, on weekdays they will have a limited menu with low supplies of everything except original puffs. This makes zero sense. You mean to tell me that any new outlet that opens doesn't get enough guidance to be able to produce adequate amounts of what the customers want? Selling out so early in the day (seemingly on purpose) is bad for business; some people who leave mad don't come back. Today we bought another half dozen original puffs--because that's all they had. We wanted all chocolate, so we were disappointed. The efficiency of the employees on this visit was notably *worse* than it was 5 days ago (on their second day of business). How is it that anyone can work so slow? It's JUST filling cream puffs with a hand pump. We were told it would be 30 minutes from the time we ordered until we actually got the food (it took about 25). How about having TWO workers pump cream into the pastry when you're busy? Come on...learn faster. We want you to succeed. Also, the place had no music today. This is a japanese cream puff chain. I have visited this place many times now and have met the owner who is very friendly. Its a small store with a few tables and chairs to sit on. Most customers here just come and go. Not much too choose from the menu. You just tell them what topping and filling you want (Original, Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Green Tea, Creme Brulee, Cookies n cream). They also have fondants here. I love that the puff is not hard and the creams are not too sweet. The only thing that keeps me from coming here often is the price. One small puff is around $3.50. Definitely close to the true authentic experience of getting it fresh from Japan. Having eaten these numerous times hot and fresh from the original Japanese locations I can vouch for the US recipe being almost exactly the same in terms of flavour. The only thing is they serve them a bit too cold. I was told they had to be cold or else the custard creme inside would melt but I had them warm with custard when I was abroad and it works so well. The warmth of the fresh choux puff and the coolness of the melting custard is amazing! Must be a food safety thing? Regardless, at any temperature these are amazing. I really enjoyed the new honey butter choux puff as it has an extra crispness to it that's so satisfying. Be careful when chowing down on these as they have some much creme inside that they could explode! I like taking the top part off and dipping into the filling for the ultimate taste sensation.
