Amazing experiences with facials, a few excellent and consistent massage practitioners, but a couple of duds. My daughter had a VERY subpar mani-pedi, no experiences with the hairdressers, so no comment there. On the up side, no upselling or product pushing, but be prepared to show "proof" of your appointment to the parking lot attendant and come with some time in advance as the bathroom is a short distance from the spa, if needed before. I'd say it's my least favorite feature - no easy bathroom- and it's just small in general. But they aim to please and create a generally friendly, tranquil vibe. read more

$70+ for a Substandard pedicure. Nothing really, "spa" related besides the environment. Rounded toe nail edges, not able to do French tip, nor the option for gel or something similar. Unfortunately, I was pointed to the polish rack and told to pick a solid polish color & was never asked the shape I wanted. However for toenails to grow out safely, edges should never be rounded so that's a bit interesting. read more

Mixed feelings about my experience. For the massage services and check-in, I would say those were very good. The staff work together to communicate with the clients and each other. Very relaxing spa vibe with dim lights and calm for the massage areas. HOWEVER, my hair cut here and that was NOT such a great experience. I just wanted a 2 inch trim. Nothing fancy. My hair is very straight and not hard to cut. The stylist failed to check where my hair parts when it was dry and "guessed" after it had been shampooed and began to cut. Which is not what my experience has been with other stylists. The next day, I shampooed & styled my hair, I realized that she had been WAY off. See the photo. Had to go to my regular hair stylist to fix this fiasco. So, I DO recommend the other spa services, but caution against trying the salon services if this is not where you normally go. I am sure that they would have "fixed" this, but I now live out of town, hence my cautionary tale. ~ update: management did indeed say they would have fixed my hair had I had the time to come back. That would still have NOT made up for the 5 inches of HAIR LOST as my hair dresser had to cut an additional 2.5 inches for a total of 5 inches taken off. Which is NOT how short I wanted, but it looked SO lopsided that she had no choice. read more

I scheduled my wife for a massage on her birthday. Her review was that is was the worst massage she's ever had. She said it was far from relaxing , sporadic and rushed feeling. It felt like the masseuse was trying to tickle her rather than using "long, flowing stokes" as their menu advertises. She came out of the massage soaking wet with oils, her hair looked as wet as if she just stepped out of the shower. They did not leave her with a clean towel or offer her one to clean herself off. They also discarded the used wet towels on top of her socks and shoes so when she left she had cold wet feet. She expressed her displeasure with staff who apologized about the experience and said we will definitely be reaching out about the experience but have yet to do so. read more

I came here with my friends for a birthday sleepover. We stayed at the lodge and decided to do a spa day. I'm not big on massages, however my friends were raving about their massage experience. I opted to get a Sea Salt Body Scrub. It was a wonderful experience. Seleina was my esthetician and she was excellent. My skin was soft and supple. She was very kind, courteous, and professional. The staff was very nice and welcoming. I would definitely return. I feel so refreshed and renewed. I went to the spa today with my Mom and sister in law. 2 of us had deep tissue massages with Anthony and Kyrial. They were both outstanding. My mom said that her facial was one of the best she's had. My husband and I visited Bear Mountain Inn for the first time today and while we were here, he was able to book us each a massage for the same time slot. What an incredible experience! The desk clerk was so welcoming, she made us comfortable in the waiting area and provided us with cucumber water while we filled out our paperwork. I chose a reflexology massage with Amanda, who was wonderful. From the moment I was with her, she made me feel super comfortable and relaxed. My mind was totally clear and any stress was instantly melted away. My husband got a Swedish massage with Stephanie and he said it was hands down the best massage he's ever gotten. We have fallen in love with this magical gem of a place and we plan on coming back to visit again. I have no issues with the actual service.. I've gotten massages more than once, and visited with family members that got massage/facial/pedicure and we all agreed that the services were excellent. However, the space is very awkward. The spa waiting area isn't the quiet and relaxing experience you might expect since there are 2 hotel rooms within that waiting area. In general, it can be a bit noisy because of the proximity to the hotel rooms. Something to keep in mind if you're looking to truly relax. read more

Had a body scrub and massage here during a bachelorette weekend. There weren't many other places in area that could accommodate several women simultaneously (I think this was the only one), so we made an appointment here. My service was very good. It wasn't the best scrub I got, but it was relaxing. Only big gripe is that there is NO changing room and relaxing spa area like I would expect from a place of this caliber and of a similar type of spa. You don't get a robe or slippers, so you can't just chill out before or after your appointment in your relaxing apparel. You are called into the room and told to undress. When you are done, you have to get re-dressed right there before you walk out. It just seemed like everything else was top-notch, and this kept it from being a 5-star spa experience. They do have a sitting/relaxing room, but it is in the elevator lobby area, so you see guests coming in and out of the elevator with their suitcases looking for their rooms, while you are trying to relax in the spa experience. Be warned, this is probably the best spa-like experience in the area, so keep it in mind when you go there. read more

I had a massage from Kiryl and absolutely LOVE his company and services. Very intelligent, and the massage was great. He really knows what he's doing and the art/science of massage. As he said, "no movement of his is random. Spa is spacious, beautiful and clean. They also offer a wide range of services and even sell these beautiful jewelry near the counter. I loved the package and it was exclusive to the Bear Mountain Spa. I appreciated the flexibility and courtesy shown by the staff and Anthony! My friend and I both loved our services and would return! However I think that, being located in a hotel, there definitely can be more of a day spa feel incorporated into the experience such as a relaxation room, sauna or hot tub, and slippers. I received a gift certificate to the Spa at Bear Mountain back in August and was finally able to carve some time out today to pamper myself. I selected two treatments: one 80 minute hot stone and a 50 minute brightening facial. The team at the Spa was very communicative before my appointment, sending multiple reminders and confirmations about the treatments. Upon arriving (two minutes late due to icy roads), the attendee at the front was very cordial and kind, showing me to the changing facility to get into a robe. Once changed, I was immediately taken into the treatment room with Seleina who diligently dismantled myriad knot in my back and allowed me to put my 14 hour days in the far recesses of my mind. When we were finished there (80 minutes seems to fly by in a state of rest), I was taken to Mariana for the brightening facial, which was another pleasant treatment that left me and my skin glowing. I just had a Neck,Back and Shoulder massage with Liz, it was fantastic! I have horrible knots in my shoulders and neck due to lifting heavy items, and she knew just how to create the perfect treatment for me. The Staff is so friendly and the facility is clean. I am so thrilled with both the spa services and customer service I experienced today for a relaxing birthday spa day! I was warmly greeted by the manager, Annatte and receptionist, Eleni and immediately felt like I was meeting two new friends. I felt like I was truly pampered for hours starting with an incredible massage by Liz and then pedicure and manicure (I highly recommend their Dazzle Dry manicure which I had never heard of before!) with Maria. They were both so sweet, professional and have a true gift for what they do. What was most impressive was the attentiveness of all the staff during my day. I always had someone checking in to see how I was doing, if I was happy and that my glass of cucumber water was perpetually replenished. I can't believe this place isn't on Yelp! I went for the first time today and am hooked. The Spa is located in the Bear Mountain Inn, just a couple minutes from the Bear Mountain Bridge. The setting is beautiful and the spa is impeccable. I woke up this morning deciding I wanted a birthday massage, having very poorly planned it. In googling I found the Spa at Bear Mountain close to my house. They squeezed me in, and even had to wait longer for me to navigate around a detour. I arrived late and stressed but everyone was nothing but welcoming, friendly, and calming. And the massage!! I am a pretty discriminating spa goer, and Michaela has won me over. She is a wonderful massage therapist, extremely skilled, and checks in with you just enough. I had the Neck and Shoulders massage and Michaela did fabulous work - both relaxing and effective. Owner Annette greeted me after with some water and friendly conversation. I will absolutely be back to have Michaela work on me again! They have a full spa, nail services, and membership options. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing, and if you wanted you could make a day or weekend of it at Bear Mountain. (Parking is in the state park parking lot, so you need $8 cash. Well worth it. The spa was wonderful. My fiance and I spent a morning before our wedding weekend there. We got facials and massages, and I got a manicure and pedicure for the first time. Everything was great. Annatte and her staff were awesome, even with us being a little late (ok 20 minutes, but who's counting!) They treated us so well. And Seleina was awesome! This spa is dull and the decor is stuck in the 1970s. The massage was excellent and the spa pedicure just blah. Manicure was fine enough. Not very luxurious. Too bright and loud. Staff were nice but they didn't do anything extra to make it feel special. When paying that sort of money, it really should feel like you are enjoying a pampering day. read more

The Spa is very nice; comfortable seating when you wait for your service(s) as well as a quiet seating area following your service. Very welcome greeting when you check in.
