We came here during COVID times and they are probably the best restaurant you could go to if you want to be safe! They had a sanitizer mat you had to step on before entering the restaurant to clean the bottom of your shoes, and they had a guy up front checking your temperature. We went to 2 other restaurants during our stay here and neither of them did any of that! Another thing they did, that the other restaurants didn't do, is they brought out huge laminated menus that they put at each end of the table so you don't actually have to touch a menu. I believe Smokey's may have had the same menu set up, but the waitress never brought it out (plus we knew what we wanted so we didn't need it). Anyway, the decor here is so beautiful and the staff are super friendly and attentive. Our waiter also spoke great English, so you can ask him questions about the menu without much complication. I had forgotten what drink I got last time I was here and I figured it was the piña colada since that's what I tend to drink out there (but reading my previous review now I see that it was the mango daiquiri). And I wish I got that again, because this time I got a piña colada (which must've been added to their menu since the last time I came here) and it was not that great. It was too strong for my liking and it didn't come with a cherry or any spices sprinkled on top (go to Smokey's for the best one I've had out in Los Barriles). But aside from that, I got the stuffed potato again which was still amazing. We also got tableside guacamole, and then creme brûlée for dessert that everyone at the table couldn't stop raving about. Absolutely amazing and fun atmosphere with live music, dancing, wonderful and attentive staff and very good food. The guacamole, made table side was the best we have ever had. We asked for the empty table near the entrance and for some unknown reason that upset our server. Although, I'm not sure if that was our server because we never saw him again. We might as well have been invisible. Waiters passed by us is a never ending parade and refused to make contact. I had to repeatedly ask servers to provide service. It took two hours to get our meal. The food was "ok" but overpriced for what you got. Had to make myself some toast when we got home because my portion was so small. Smokey Joe's down the road was packed while there were a lot of empty tables here. I suspect that the glory days for Beans and Rice have passed and the wait staff is done with serving gringos that don't come in dripping with money. Also, Yelp lists that they accept credit cards but I was sternly told "cash only" by the head waiter. Glad we had enough. Super fun, festive and entertaining place. Staff was extremely attentive. Tableside guacamole was a fun show, and nice to have different add in options. They do a fire dessert table side show that is great for kids. Seafood platter comes on a huge ceramics journal display which is also fun. Seven or eight different toppings at the taco topping bar. They send a different waiter, The Closer to deliver the check and then inform you that it's cash only. The kicker is the exchange rate! they used 16.0 on our check. when questioned, the manager said, "That is the rate at the bank today". A quick search showed the actual rate to be 18. Hands down, best tacos in Los Barilles! We stayed in Los Barriles for a week and for some reason waited to try this place out on our last night, Christmas Day! They only just opened a few days ago so it's awesome to get to be one of the first to try. The tortillas here are homemade in a booth where you can watch so extremely fresh! I ordered 4 fish tacos ($1.50 a piece) and 3 margaritas ($4 a piece) and it was all amazing! A short walk from the beach too so a nice sunset walk is just icing on the cake, definitely recommend!! read more

Had seafood and meat tacos here recently and wasn't all that impressed. A little too salty for my taste (seafood are naturally salty and don't need additional salt) and the price per taco is not competitive compared to other restaurants nearby. Also, the taco condiments bar is not covid-safe as you're touching the same serving utensils as everyone else eating there. Other places give you disposable plastic gloves to use so if you're a germophobe like me, make sure you bring antibacterial wipes or hold the serving spoon with a napkin. read more

Holy cow the food was so good here! We took our freshly caught tuna in and they prepared for us the most delicious and beautiful ceviche and sashimi as appetizers and then on a platter we had the tuna blackened, grilled and fried.
