If you are looking for the best place in Los Barriles to get guacamole this is it! Nice place to eat and drink with your toes in the sand. Don't forget to say hi to Sammy the dog too.

4 stars because of the fantastic atmosphere and view and ultra-clean bathrooms and great service. Food was pretty average. Pina coladas not so good. Absolutely lovely spot to sit and enjoy the gorgeous scenery.

El Gecko Best of Baja You have to try the guacamole

We were here last year. The staff and the food is amazing! The guacamole is Amazing... It's a must try!

Second time here. I like this place. It is true prices are a tad bit high but look around they have many people on staff to help you. More than most places. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Music is awesome. Toes in the sand looking out over the ocean. Last time I had calamari appetizer. Very good. This time I had shrimp tacos. Delicious. Wife had chili releno. Son had shrimp enchilada. Both very good as well. Daughter had nachos. Looked great but I had a taste and it was just average. If you're lucky you will meet Sammy Davis Junior (the dog) .

Got to check this place out. Must discover it yourself. If you like the experience of Los Barriles B. C. S. Mex. then spend some time finding this place. A taxi got us close one evening, few cows and goats helped too. Plus the full moon rising over the Sea was a nice aid. Shoes off, toes playing in the sand. Romantic evening waiting A very good and well run beach upscale kind of local to all kind of dive. Good spirits, great food, all presented with you in mind. Feels like a discovery. Take an ATV ride there, via beach or "road". Get there some how. You'll be surprised. It a really nice place. They are just getting up and running. And are putting it all out to create a place worthy of this enchanted town. It's BAJA "California" for sure !!! I mean it ain't your usual burrito or taco Its way more. Way way more. So make it a special occasion. Come relaxed. Leave even more so. Fine dinning in the sand.

Best Caesar salad ever and made tableside. Thank you Alex!

My wife and I loved this place, it's right on the beach and their table side guacamole was amazing. Best place to be for a happy hour.

You could easily miss it if you blink. ;) The three of us sat down at a table in the middle of the establishment. They had the fans going, but because they use a wood burning fire, it is very smokey and you will end up smelling like a barbecue. As long as you don't mind that, the food was really good. We started off with the camaron ceviche (shrimp/prawn). It was priced at $7.50 usd which I thought was a bit on the pricer side for mexico, but it was huge and easily enough for 3 people as an appetizer. The chips here are store bought, not homemade, but I didn't come here for the chips. Next up was the entree. I ordered camaron imperales ($14) - huge prawns with cheese wrapped in bacon. They were really good a little bit too much cheese for me, but still tasty. They boys split the Pirata Combination ($16) which was one camaron imperales, one coconut shrimp topped with banana, one seabass, one piece of octopus served with a potato on top of a salad. They boys loved the combo! They have a variety of soda, beer and wine. I stuck with a homemade lemonade which was made with sparkling water. Service was great, street parking was easy. For the quality of food, the prices are reasonable.

I have to say, Smokey's stands out as an American bar-restaurant in an otherwise Mexican resort town. Their Shrimp Linguini Alfredo rivals any we've had in the US. And their Pescado Vericruzano (Yellowtail Veracruz) is superb. Both are top examples of what you would expect from a seafood region, such as San Francisco or New Orleans. Smokey's is probably the hottest club atmosphere in town also - a mix of stylish singles, sport fishermen, and American ex-patriot retirees, all becoming friends over the topic of food, drink and sports playing on 3-4 big-screen TVs. Attire is what-ever's-comfortable. And the parking lot is SUVs and 4-wheel ATVs, side by side. And I must say, our waitress, Gloria, was glorious! A couple locals on guitars and bongos play for tips - regulars, obviously known to everyone. After a week of Mexican cuisine elsewhere (tacos, enchiladas, and endless guacamole), it's really refreshing to find a more American diversion. The only thing missing are steak entrees, Smoky's is clearly a seafood restaurant and bar!
