My husband and I were staying in the Villas de Cortez and Bay View was right out our sliding door so you know we went daily! Their table side guacamole, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, quesadillas and tortilla soup are all fabulous! We also had our Thanksgiving dinner there also and they offered a dinner special that had Turkey. Service was friendly and outstanding. Pedro, Oscar and Manny are behind the bar and are fun to talk with - and they make a mean Paloma and Margarita! read more

We started a few doors down from the Bay view in an AirB&B and this turned into our regular spot for a few reasons. Always first are the drinks. Margis, mojitos, Long Island ice teas, pina colada.... all fantastic! But that chocolate martini was amazing. Then the food, we didn't order much off the menu. I caught a Wahoo on day 2 and brought in about a 1/3 of it and the did some manic. The sashimi was my favorite, with an amazing sesame soy sauce mixture on top. Then some tempura and some grilled. They did up with grilled veggies mashed potatoes and a few sauces that were perfect. Finally the people. What a fantastic bunch. The servers were attentive the chef must be a genius and the music was so fun. The guy play was so enthusiastic about his music that we couldn't help but love it. Ladies got up and danced and even got us up there after a few (many) drinks. We saw him a couple other times and almost got my wife up there to play the banjo with him. He was all for it. So where I make my home we have very good taco trucks and sit down Mexican restaurants. The food here at Bayview is on scale with some of our local places. Obliviously we are trading our local meat choices for Los Barriles local seafood. Everything we ordered was prepared correctly and served with a smile. So great job with that. read more

Service was good. View was beautiful. but the food was "meh". I ordered the Shrimp Tacos which were poorly fried and there were two strips of Cabbage, some avocado on top and not much else. Go for the view, not the food. read more

Came here last year and heard that the management was new. Ambiance- still great Service- staff is delightful Food- meh! Come on guys $26 UDS for a Costco style hamburger with a smattering of fries? We walked away feeling totally gouged on the food choice. Ever more so that the Bay View charged over $10 more than anywhere else in town. This is the restaurant attached to the Palmas de Cortez hotel, which is the town's attempt at a resort. We've eaten here three times now, and the last one was a little disappointing so we're probably done with it. It's a great setting... out on a covered deck overlooking the beach. There's been an outdoor keyboard player during meal times who's decent, if a bit flowery playing US hits from decades past. ("Eye in the Sky" anyone?) Service can be a bit slow, but is friendly. The guacamole is terrific... a huge mound of it sharing the bowl with pico de gallo and great homemade tortilla chips. They are pretty big servings, so if you aren't all pretty hungry, then have some of you just order appetizers. read more

Had the guacamole and chips, could feed a crowd, and the ordered the scallop tostada. Thought it was going to be a small bite for $6.50. Wow! Try this stack of scallops, avocado, red onion, fresh salsa but take my word for it, do not eat it like a traditional tostada. Fell apart in my hands and still ate as much as I could! Ate here twice as we are in the Condos next door. Food is Good, view is awesome, table service is not good if your only a party of 2. Large parties got great service, we did not. Hears dinner specials offered to a large party, we weren't offered any. Dealt with 3 different servers to get a drink refill after waiving a bus boy down. Prices were high. Final take away meal was 2 chicken Caesar salads, an Appetizer and a margarita white I waited was $50 US with tip. It happened AGAIN!!! Came back for my wife's Birthday. We were the first ones in the place. Server took our orders, didn't see him again after 2 parties of 6 and 12 came in. Got drinks, guacamole and a salad in 20 minutes. An HOUR later after asking 3 times for the check and it out food the Head managers ask me if I want anything else, so he can seat our table with a group thats waiting . I tell him, we did not get our food, just the check. They rush out with a pile of burnt bacon wrapped shrimp that I returned as it was was dry and burnt, now Chef comes out, mad. Came to a Bay View today after a long day of fishing. They not only prepared our fish, but prepared it two different ways! Sashimi and grilled (dorado) it. We did a surf and turf, huge filet mignon and lobster tail for 30 dollars. So happy we came here! read more

This is located in the Palmas de Cortez resort, next to the villas. My experience has been 99% good.... The bad: it isn't cheap. The good: Everything we have had was delicious. The spinach salad, 3 cheese tequila...just to name a few. They will prepare your fresh catch from your day's fishing trip if you bring it in. We even dropped off some tuna at lunch time and picked it up shortly after and had fresh sashimi and tacos with all the fixins right on the beach! The staff is incredible! There are a few fellows who have been there a long time and either they truly remember you or they really make you feel like they do! Always a welcoming greeting and big smile. We are stumbling through learning a little Spanish and they are so nice about helping us with that when we order or are just chatting with them. It is always either a party of 2 or 3 and we've never received less than stellar service. read more

Absolutely stunning view of the Sea of Cortez. Given the choice of Mexican or Chilean chardonnay we chose the Mexican and it was quite good. The guacamole was to die for and the calamari appetizer was fresh, crispy, snd delicious. Special of the day was paella, full of chicken, sausage, pork, shrimp, and mussels over a rice bed. 5 of 8 in our party ordered this and it got a thumbs up all around. Still am satisfied with the food. However since they have a new chef they do not accommodate changes. In the past as a single diner at lunch I could get small portions; one taco, 1/2 Caesar, etc. This new chef will not allow. I hope this changes or I will change my place to dine. read more
