Great group of mechanics here!!…read more Today it was just a quick state inspection that they finished in about 20 minutes on my lunch break, but I have previous experience with the mechanics here that make me want to come back when my car needs some attention and I'm at work. Years ago I had an SUV that just died while I was getting gas nearby. I walked to McBroom's since it was the closest shop (right across a side street actually). I asked if I could use their phone to call a tow truck, but one of their mechanics volunteered to come and look at my SUV and try to start it for me. This went on for about an hour until he finally decided to tow it with his own truck to their garage. The next day, my car was running so I picked it up and drove it to my side of town. It died after about 20 minutes. So why such a glowing review if my truck/SUV wasn't actually fixed? I was charged nothing for the time and effort that this mechanic put into my car. Yes, he didn't totally fix it, but he did what he could to the best of his abilities and for FREE!! Most people in the Houston area wouldn't even bother to look at one of your troubled autos without agreeing to a $75-100 fee first! I guess McBroom's is just proof that while we all complain about mechanics there are still some good ones out there. You may just need to get out to the suburbs to find them!

Lexus would take care of my windshield replacement. Maybe they do care about their customers? MyLinh promised me that she would let the service department know and I just needed to schedule service with them. Everything would be on my file. Welp, I texted the customer service line to schedule an appointment; the same line I use to schedule vehicle services. Ana couldn't figure out how to schedule and kept deferring. She first told me that they would arrange for a manager to call me; which they did, and I explained the situation. Ana finally said she can schedule my appointment and to find a date/time that works. Once I provided that information, there way a 2-day delay. She told me she needed to talk to her colleague and they'll get back to me as soon as possible. That was June 2nd.. no response via that text line to this date. Skip forward a week or two, I decided to call the service department directly. I explained the situation, gave them MyLinh Salazar's name and that I would like to schedule a complimentary windshield replacement. Easy peasy.. I got in the books and was scheduled for June 10th at 8am. I came in to drop my vehicle off and they set me up with a loaner fairly quickly, with the understanding that they would call me in a few hours when my vehicle was done. I asked them this question specifically and this was the exact response. 4pm rolls around and I'm curious why they haven't called or provided any updates. I never received a text from the service team, which is abnormal, so I called the service line directly. My service provider called me back and told me they were still waiting for the parts. Why did they schedule a windshield replacement appointment and never order a windshield! Wtf?! So I wasted 2 days of them just keeping my car cause they didn't have the parts to do the job. Austin finally confirmed they didn't get everything in until Friday morning, June 12th. My vehicle was not ready until very late Friday, around 5:30-6pm. I opted to pick up my vehicle Saturday, June 13th, 3 full days later. I'm not sure what's going on with this dealership or their service department. It was a really bad experience, on top of a really bad sales experience (see below) the last 2 vehicles. 18May2026: One of the shadiest businesses I've ever worked with. I've purchased 3 vehicles here over the years and each time, the experience gets worse. My first vehicle was about 10 years ago when Sterling McCall Lexus actually cared about giving stellar customer service, but I've seen this mentality decrease over the years.. maybe due to demand but it's completely unacceptable. I bought my 2nd vehicle during covid and had to wait for it to arrive from Japan. The negotiations felt like a "bait and switch" experience, where they say one thing and come out with completely something different on paper. Luckily we read behind the lines and called them out on it before the documents were complete. This last time was a year ago, and it was with Finance. Again, a sought after vehicle. I had a deposit down and thought it was weird they took my deposit and didn't call me with the vehicle of my choice, over a year later. This dealership wouldn't give you your position # on the waitlist. When I absolutely needed a vehicle due to an unexpected accident, they magically came up with something in production that would arrive within a month. I purchased a windshield replacement option and they told me I could be covered for tires and windshield. I have documentation that the small print about the windshield replacement having a restriction of under 6" was never disclosed. That is, until I called and had to use it. No information about taking a photo with a ruler, or size restriction; the whole package was a scam. Anything less than 6" is not a windshield replacement, just a small chip repair through Caltex. Shady business all around, from sales to finance.

I called first to see if I needed to pay for the parts myself and the owner specified that he will all parts. I asked what his availability is. He told me the soonest I can bring it in, the soonest he can work on it! I visited on my lunch break and dropped my vehicle with him. I told him that the car needed alignment, new brakes, and I think the starter is going out (I wasn't sure, but it sounded like it didn't want to start). He told me the latest he'll have it ready by is on Wednesday. On Tuesday, he called me and confirmed all issues including the starter. He gave me a reasonable quote (not over $8k) and told me my car was ready to be picked up. I paid him in cash and left. It was like night and day improvement. My vehicle drove very well compared to last week when I picked it up from AutoNation. It drives smoother, the starter doesn't trip as much, it doesn't rock like a boat, and it feels great riding around in my car. I recommend Brown's. Local, honest, and transparent mechanic! I'll be using Brown's from now on.

I do not trust anyone else with my car. Any work they do is guaranteed and they won't do work that's unnecessary. When I take my car in, they not only fix it up, "Uncle" Joseph also does a routine check of my car - fluid levels, etc. - because he knows that I'm not car savvy and would not check this for myself. They even provide a car if I have to leave mine a couple days. I remember when I was younger, money was tight and there was not much spare budget for car repairs. Mom's car was having problems, so we took it in for a check. Not only did he not charge us for the check, but he gave us a quick fix, an ETA on car life, and an analysis of whether it was worth it to keep "fixing" the car. Any other mechanic would have just kept gouging us for continued repairs. He was honest enough to tell us that he would fix it if we wanted but it was not worth it and we'd be back in a few months. I had previously been taking my vehicles to the Mazda dealership in Webster, but after multiple attempts to reach my former Service Advisor -- calls, emails, and messages -- I never received a response. Unfortunately, it was time for me to find a different location. Once Russell & Smith became my choice, I asked AI who I should request as my Service Advisor. Stephen Rodriguez really stood out based on the reviews I found. When I first met Stephen, I told him, "It's your fault why I'm here!" And after dealing with him, I can honestly say the reviews were right. Stephen was great and an absolute pleasure to work with. He kept me updated throughout the entire process and made sure I knew what was going on with my vehicle. As for the actual service, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. My A/C compressor had failed, and the repair was handled very quickly. I was able to get a loaner within about two hours, and my CX-30 was ready the very next day with a new compressor installed. Mike, Adam, Jamal, and everyone did such a great job taking care of me and handling the insurance claim. What I really appreciated most was Mike and how he kept me informed almost on a daily basis. He emailed me with regular updates and made sure to answer every question I had. It also didn't take long for the repair to be complete (a couple of weeks or so). They want to do the job right and not rush it. After the repair was complete, I heard a bit of a knocking sound coming from the front driver's side. It sounded like it was near the front driver's side tire area. I called Mike and he told me to bring it in when I could and he would definitely take care of the issue. He test drove the car with me so he could hear the sound. Then, he explained to me that it could be a number of things. So, I dropped my car off and Adam, the manager, paid for an Uber so I could get back home. The technicians worked on it first thing in the morning and the issue was solved the next day.
