Beahm's fixed up my 2008 Impala to pass the Maryland state inspection for a quarter of the price another shop quoted me. I really appreciated the kind staff and quick service. Thank you Beahm's! read more

Love this place. They just fixed a used Explorer for me and they even got it inspected so I didn't have too. And it was less money then they quoted me!! These guys are fabulous and do not rip you off. They also treat woman with respect which some repair places do not. I highly recommend them. read more

$240 for front brake pads? No thank you. Brake pads themselves cost around $60 from an auto parts store. So either they're selling them at an exorbitant upcharge or they're delusional enough to think their labor is worth $200 to spend 10 minutes replacing brake pads. I'm a 24 year old woman so maybe they were just trying to take advantage of me, but unfortunately for them I'm just not that stupid. I wonder if they'd treat their own daughter the same way. read more

I got an oil change (and some free auto care advice) in about 15 minutes for about $40. They were friendly and hassle-free. Unlike other auto care places, they didn't try to provide services that I didn't ask for. It was quick, convenient and a good experience. Couldn't really ask for much else, except maybe a slightly cheaper oil change price, which is probably unreasonable given their location. Overall, very good. read more

You really get what you pay for here. These guys need to be told exactly what you want, but they're great for tuneups and basic service.

I've been here on three different occasions and each time was remarkable. They are very prompt and they communicate well. I don't think I've waited more than 3 hours for any service done to my car so far, and they haven't failed to call me to let me know when it's ready. Most importantly, I do believe they are very, very honest. I'm not someone who thinks that dealers are filled with malicious liars, but there is understandably a level of trust that is hard to establish. On the other hand, I've felt that Beahm's has always been very fair and upfront about their quotes. I've never once thought, "wow, that's an outrageous price for what sounds like unnecessary work." In short, I trust them and they've done great work so far, so I absolutely recommend them. read more

They open early, and I have yet to need an appointment. I dropped off my car today around 8:45am, and it was ready by 9:30am. I got a 90k mile service along with a general vehicle check to ensure it was in tiptop shape before giving it to a relative. I have used them intermittently for my 30k, 60k, and random services over the years. I've always found the service to be fast and reasonably priced; I've never felt gouged nor have I worried about them coming up with fake problems to charge more. They are located next door to an auto parts store, so most regular parts are readily available. I highly recommend them for your regular maintenance. read more

I was very impressed. Not only did they take my car in right away, but it was ready within just a few hours. Furthermore, they actually helped me determine that I didn't need a lot of service that some other mechanics told me I needed. They were even willing to take me back and show me why. Plus, Mr. Beahm just seems like a sweet guy. You kind of wish you could go to him for advice when you're down. Overall, the service was great and the prices were very reasonable. What more could I ask for? I'll be bringing my car back to this place. read more

I have been using them for more than 10 years. They never try to talk you into repairs that are not needed. They are efficient and professional. Great service! read more

We dropped our Mazda 5 space-wagon/mini-SUV with Beahm's on Sunday night for work on Monday. This is a 2006 (original model) year car. We'd had a noisy suspension issue for some time and we also wanted to have the car checked out before a planned road trip. I called the week ahead to find out if we needed to make an appointment and was assured we could just drop it off the night before, no problem. We did so on Sunday night. By 9AM Monday, there was a message on my voicemail with an assessment of all issues. When I called back, I got a detailed run down of what was found (an issue with bushings and struts, plus rear tires out of round) and was given a verbal estimate of cost. Mike (Beahm?) told me that whether they could repair it that day depended on whether they could get the sole-source Mazda parts that day, but they would try. Later, when I called back, they told me they expected to be able to do all of the work (bushings, struts, scheduled oil change, and other safety checks) by 5pm. Sure enough, I was able to pick up the car at 5pm, all work done, and the car felt like it was new (except for the noise from out-of-round rear tires, which we were told we could leave until they wore out or buy new tires; no pressure from Beahm's, we'll assess our options on our schedule). The price was about one third what I'd expected, based on my experience with the dealer. The car really does ride and sound great, and it was a very pleasant experience (really, I'd been waiting for this for at least three years; I actually took it out on the road to FIND bumps and holes to make it make noise, to no avail). Mike (and others there) sound like real mechanics (a bit gruff but knowledgable), so don't have other expectations. Just the facts. Based on our experience over the last 24 hours (and without an opportunity to drive the car for an extended basis), I'd recommend Beahm's highly. read more

Beahm's was recommended to me by a friend after Herb Gordon Nissan told me a cabin air filter replacement would be $180. I dropped my 2010 Maxima (44K miles) off to Beahm's, and informed him that I was told I needed the filter and the other services that were recommended by the dealership was a transmission flush and a brake fluid flush. Mike was very nice and called me when the car was ready. He told me he checked my fluids and all were squeaky clean and nothing needed to be flushed at this time. The cabin filter service cost me $40. REALLY?!?!? That's a $140 savings. The other unecessary services the dealership recommended was an additional $300. I found Beahm's to be honest and they provided me with friendly, prompt service. I'll definitely be returning. read more

I didn't take my car here because of the rudeness I encountered on the phone. I called to make an appointment and explained the problem. When I told him that the car is a Mitsubishi Eclipse, he started laughing and put me on hold. When he came back on the line, he told me to take the car to a dealer because it's too hard to get parts for the car. This has never happened to me before. No auto shop has ever said anything like that before. If they can't get parts for cars, then they shouldn't be in the auto repair business. read more

My first review - I usually don't have time to review, or feel like I have much to say, but my experience today with Beahm's Auto Service deserves me finding the time to write this. And although I just want to yell 'omg omg go there, they're so awesome, just go there, forget anybody else exists', I will actually overcome my joy and exhilaration and try to type up a coherent review :-) My sister's car needed a master cylinder for the breaks, and seeing how she can't even pop a hood, I volunteered to take care of it for her while visiting her. Being totally new in town, I looked on Yelp, called around to get an estimate, and finally settled on a shop that gave me what I thought was a great deal (compared to others). However, looks like someone out there is looking out for me. Through a random set of events, I mistakenly ended up at Beahm's. And what a wonderful mistake it's turned out to be! Mr. Mike at Beahm's told me the repair shouldn't cost me more than about $200 - half the price I got from the other place (which was already about 20% lower than most I called). He quickly priced the part, which was pricier than he thought, so he increased his estimate to about $220. Say what!?! Forget the other place - I walked over to the other place and apologized, but as a broke and starving students, every $ counts! I left my car with Mr. Mike and 2 hours later, he called me to let me know it was ready. He showed me the old part, explained what was wrong, noted that the new part was actually more expensive than quoted (always happens with my car, don't know why parts people can't get it right), but still gave me the originally quoted price, and hands were the cheapest I've ever paid for anything auto-related. Overjoyed with how much money I've saved, the service I've gotten and the overall awesome feeling I got from the whole experience, I tried to tip him. No way. Wouldn't hear of it. In addition to the price, I have to mention that Mr. Mike, and that whole shop, radiate positive energy. Not to get too California-native hippy-dippy, but seriously, I would take him home and make him my grandpa if I could. Such sweet, positive man. I seriously felt I was in good hands, and I'm as mistrusting as they get! Needless to say, I will be leaving my sister and the car in care of Mr. Mike of Beahm's Auto Service, and I feel great about it. Not since my former father-in-law took care of my cars years ago have I felt that good and confident about putting my (and/or my family's) safety and pocketbook into someone's hands. Go there. You will not regret it. And if you go, please say hi from the California girl with 95 Honda Civic :-) read more

Scammer. I took my car hear to have my transmission looked at. This place was recommended by a few friends (in their early 20s and don't work on cars themselves, so grain of salt with the recommendation). I wanted to like this place because it is conveniently located. First, they tried to tell me I needed a whole new transmission, which I didn't - a transmission flush did the job fine (at another garage). Then they tried to sell me a new transmission - for a 13 year old car. So two scams right off the bat. To make matters worse, they clearly didn't even look under the hood. He admitted that they only plugged in the diagnostic computer and copied out the code. They were nice and friendly, I'll give them that. read more

Beahm's is how auto service should be: honest people, a fair price and reliable work. My wife has taken her car there twice with great results. They even fixed something for less than $200, that the dealership said would cost over $600! I highly recommend Beahm's to everyone I know. read more

The guys at Beahm's are super-friendly, honest, and respectful. They never try to upsell or pitch unnecessary repairs, and they get things done when they say they will. It's like taking my car to have my grandpa work on it...and I mean that in the best possible way. read more

I love these guys. I've taken 3 different vehicles to them over the years and they have always done well by me. 3 main points - 1) honest - never have they suggested work I didn't actually need 2) fast - every time they've turned it around the same day, sometimes in a few hours 3) reasonably priced - the cost always come back cheaper than I expect Beahms will continue to get all my business. As an added plus when I needed some body work the place they recommended (CRG Auto Body, right down the street) were equally good. read more

He's guys are great - honest, fast, reasonably priced, been-there-forever, family-run-business good guys. One of my biggest concerns in car repair is that, as a person who knows nothing about cars, my naïveté is obvious and I'll be ripped off. With these guys, I am not concerned. read more

Wow! Honest repair guys. They fix what is broken and tell you what has to be fixed and what doesn't. And if it's just a spark plug or something, they usually throw that in for free. Fast too. They usually get oil changes done in under 20 minutes. Nice guys, all three of them. read more

We've been taking our cars here for years after reading a review in Washington Checkbook. They are honest, professional, and totally trustworthy. There have been times when instead of charging us for work, they let us know that a recall or warrantee extension occurred and that we could have the work done at the dealer for free. Work is done in a timely manner. read more

I recently took my car to this place and really liked their service and the overall price of the work. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is because they didn't call me and tell me what the cost of the repairs would be before they started the work on my car. I brought my car in and said that I'd like them to give me an estimate. Apparently I didn't make myself clear enough because the next call I received was that they had made all the repairs and I could pick it up. Fortunately, they fixed the squeaking breaks and the rattling noise I wanted fixed and it only cost me about $100. In the end I walked away happy with the work that was done. read more

We love Mike and Mike! We've been taking our cars here for over a decade. They are old fashioned car guys who LOVE LOVE LOVE auto mechanics. The older Mike has NEVER had a vacation! I really wanted to like these guys...I really did. This repair shop had awesome and consistant reviews so I thought I would take my car there for a trial run for a simple tire rotation and oil change-easy enough. I got there late morning two weeks ago to ask when they thought they could take it in that day and Mike surprised me by saying that he could take it at that moment and that I could wait for it. I was very pleasantly surprised. Within about 30 minutes I was done and off. Over the last two weeks I would be driving and just feel something different about the tires but I didn't put much into it cause I knew they had been rotated and they were new...so I thought it must be me. Two days ago I go onto the interstate for the first time and at 60 MPH and my driving wheel started to vibrate bad. Again, thought it must be the road conditions or something cause I asked myself how could someone mess up a tire rotation. Much less a shop that has gotten all five stars?? Turns out that upon inspection, I had lost one lug nut and about half the lug nuts on the back tires were finger loose! So, at this point I don't know what to think. I have to bring it back today and have them check it but I can't just wait for it now...I have to leave it with them. So out a car for not sure how long today for a tire rotation check! *******UPDATE*********** Okay so I changed my 1-star rating to a 3-star since Mike was able to accomdate me and even though he did not admit to the mistake, it does seem that he was able to fix it and took it out for a ride to make sure the tires worked. I will give this place a 5-star if, when I take it for my 60K scheduled maintanence and they do a good job.... read more

I definitely trust this place. Brought my car there because I thought it sounded funny and they checked it out told me it was fine (which it was and has been--this happened over a year ago). Didn't charge me a dime. SO impressed with this shop. I have taken my mother's car here twice. First was for new brakes that were quoted as over $800 elsewhere and only half that at Beahm's. And they were done quickly as well. Second visit was for a new battery. They dropped me and my elderly mother off at a coffee shop around the corner (their idea) since both of her knees have been replaced and they don't have a waiting area. And when they were done less than half an hour later they came and got us too! Amazing service. Honest. Knowledgeable. Courteous. Fair. I am a customer for life. read more

Due to some bad car luck, I've unfortunately had the opportunity to try out several car repair shops in the last three months. Each time I've gone to a different shop, and Beahm's gets my vote! This time around I needed the plastic shield just under the front bumper either removed or replaced since it had popped off and was scraping, and I needed new brakes/rotars. I dropped it off first thing in the morning and 25 mins later I received a call back letting me know the estimate of work needed, parts, and cost. The work was done by noonish, and I picked it up just before 5. While I'm always skeptical of mechanics as I feel like I'm going to get ripped off, I actually felt like these guys were trustworthy (especially because their evaluation of work necessary was in line with what I had previously been told about the brakes..)! All of the shop guys were quite nice. I will call on Beahms again should I so need (fingers crossed I won't for while)! My only negative comment is that the 5pm closing time makes it difficult for the typical worker bee. However the shop does open at 7:30, so that's a long work day for them..! read more

I started to notice an unpleasant grinding sound when I started the car and drove at low speeds. I called Beahm's and talked to Michael who said to come by and he would take a look. He started up the car, listened and promptly diagnosed it as a loose exhaust cover. Which makes sense since I was in a minor fender-bender the previous weekend (which he didn't know). He offered to fix it for a very reasonable price that morning. I opted not to since I have to get the body shop to fix the dented fender anyway. But he was friendly, responsive, competent and demonstrably honest. I'll definitely go back with my next service issue. read more

We've been going to Beahm's for a while now, and I thought it was time to update my review after our experience this morning. We brought out car in because it was acting funny, and we were worried it might be the transmission. It seemed to shudder as it was trying to shift, and to take longer shifting. They called my husband to tell him that it was just the spark plugs. They've also worked hard to try to tell us what simple repairs to try that might solve our problem before trying the more expensive repair. I also feel like they are completely honest and reasonably priced. And they can generally fix our car the same day if we bring it in in the morning. I usually ask my husband to deal with all things car related, but I'm totally comfortable taking the car in to these guys and don't have to worry about them being condescending or trying to rip me off because I'm female. read more

We've been taking our cars to Beahm's Auto Service for more than 20 years and have gotten nothing but straightforward, highly competent, and honest service from him and his mechanics the whole time. In fact, there have been several times when he's quoted an estimate at the beginning of the job and at the end, we've actually had to pay less than the original estimate. My husband and I recommend him highly and basically think he and his son both walk on water, or in their case, WD40. Penelope W. read more

I discovered a fuel leak under my 1994 Ford E 150 conversion van while filling up a while back, which was alarming, to say the least. I ended up taking it to Beahm's on my Toyota mechnic's recommendation, since he was reluctant to work on it. They were under the van seemingly before it had come to rest in their shop. Within minutes it was determinded that the fuel filler hose had a serious split in it, so they jumped on the phone to get some pricing. Of course you can't just buy the fuel hose, you have to buy all the clamps and flanges and all this other stuff, estimate $400+ labor. OUCH! The boss was busy following up on other pricing options when I noticed a similar hose hanging way up on the wall among a bunch of radiator hoses and pointed it out to the boss. He said, "I don't know what it is but let's take a look." As it turned out it was a Ford fuel filler hose, exactly what I needed, which had been hanging there for who knows how long. $100 later and I was out the door. Yeah, they may seem a little rough around the edges, but I'd call that character. They've been there a long time, they are trustworthy and I'll be taking my van to them from now on. read more

Have been to Beahm's Auto Service twice - first experience pretty good, fixed a variety of brake issues (front and back), put the car back on the road, charged I guess what is reasonable nowadays, no bargain. Second time I went in, had an unusual problem - a previous mechanic ( a few years back) had apparently destroyed the thread on one spark plug hole and put in a threaded insert without telling me he had cross-threaded and destroyed the hole. Now, a few years later, the spark plug blows out of the engine taking the insert with it and I have just an unthreaded hole in my cylinder head. Beahm's carefully considers whether they want to touch this new issue as there is a lot of perceived risk if they attempt to fix the problem and it blows out again - what mechanic wants that problem?? So they give me back my car (Toy Sienna) and charge me $40-$50 for looking at the problem and deciding to punt. I canvas a bunch of shops by phone and find one - BRIAN'S AUTOMOTIVE - who is willing to try putting a new, over-sized thread insert into the cylinder head despite the perceived risk! I guess Brian is an old-fashioned mechanic who gets off on fixing things that were broken before he looked at them - imagine that? So Brian fixed the problem, puts a new oversized thread insert in, a sparkplug in, and a few months later, my Sienna is happily driving around without any indication that there ever was a problem. I have to say thanks for shops like Brian's Automotive who are willing to take a business risk and have the satisfaction of calling me up and telling me "she is running pretty good"! Beahm's is not a bad shop overall, but I give all the credit to Brian's for their work going the extra step. Brian's is a bit off the beaten path in Silver Spring, at 8800 Monard Street (or a street number close to that). It is in an industrial park location. He does super work. Thank you. As for the usual criteria here on Yelp for auto shops: how did it smell there? Did they have fresh flowers? Made me feel like more of a woman? Smiled throughout our interaction? This is the most honest shop in the greater Silver Spring area. He will never over sell you on a repair and he does what he says he is going to do. I use him on an ongoing basis after spending way too much money at other shops. The woman who made the comment about the 200.00 brake job- I don't think he was just changing out brake pads- he was also probably servicing the rotors. Don't make an assumption that he is trying to rip you off because you are a woman, he does not operate that way. If he quoted you 200.00 then it was a 200.00 job - parts, shop fees and labor. Remember we are in Montgomery county- one of the most regulated counties in MD. That is what jacks up prices . read more

I finally got fed up with my Toyota dealer when the price to replace the timing belt on a 2004 minivan kept climbing and climbing, along with associated work that "had to be done at the same time," like a new water pump, crankshaft seals, etc. Plus they seem to find a $400 leak in my transmission pan gasket every two years, like clockwork. Add the extra fees (dealer service fee??) and charges that get added at the end, amounting to another $400 for nothing! So I read the reviews here and called Beahm's. Mr. Beahm himself answered. I dropped the car off this morning at 7, and by 2 pm Mike Beahm was calling me to tell me it was ready, and for less than he had estimated -- which was quite reasonable to start with. Even after I had told him all the work the dealer said was needed, he did his own assessment and determined only the timing belt itself needed replacement. Needless to say, I will be using him when I need to replace the brakes in another few thousand miles. I trust him and like doing business with an independent businessman whose name is on the sign. A huge thank you to Mike after I had the following unpleasant incident this morning. I couldn't get my car to start after pumping gas at a nearby Shell station. Not only was the mechanic who worked there hesitant to look at my car when I couldn't get it started (I was unable to move my car from the pump so I was blocking other customers), he charged $10 for jump starting it after it was determined that my battery was dead. It took less than a minute and I'm sure that almost anyone else, who's decent and kind, would have done it for free. I wouldn't have been so upset about paying the $10 if it wasn't for both the attendant and mechanic being so rude, unwilling to help, and discourteous. After the incident, I drove to Beahm's and asked Mike to check out the battery. Not only did I not have an appointment, but Mike ran the diagnostics on the battery and didn't charge me a thing. Proof that there are kind, decent, and helpful people out there. read more

I rarely write reviews, but when I searched for Beahm's phone number the other day and saw a few negative reviews, I chose to chime in after I had them do my brakes. I was told by both NTB and my dealership that I needed new brakes. Both quoted me over $750. Having used Beahm's before, I called them and they quoted me $600 on the phone. Took the car in Friday morning around 10:00. Mike Beahm discussed with me the parts he would use, that they use only high-quality ceramic brake pads, and that he would call me with an estimate (I told him someone had quoted me $600 on the phone). He called three hours later and said the car was done, cost $617. I would have preferred he got my go ahead first, but since he was on price I was happy. I have used these guys off and on for a few years. They have proven to be honest, affordable and reliable. It is nice to have a shop close to home that you can trust. Good people, which seems hard to find these day. Also, the reviewer R.L. that gave Beahm's a one-star review is incorrect. Beahm's does not do transmission work (I know because I am having a transmission issue and asked them to look at it. They referred me to the transmission shop up the street). read more
