Good specialty coffee & also more regular options. Drinks seemed to be highly customizable to your liking. Very friendly, nice and kind staff, and they have a little gift shop inside for whatever else you want while you are in Rodanthe. We didn't try any food, but some of the baked goods looked fabulous. The coffee is pretty good and the workers are nice. The only thing with the store is that they sell some satanic ritual stuff and I'm personally not a fan of that stuff being religious. I wish that they didn't sell that stuff because other than that would be a pretty good coffee shop. read more

Cute place! So why aren't there more small businesses in Maryland like this that care about making GREAT coffee drinks? We loved our Frappes and the shop was so cute! Was at a rental walking distance from the shop and went at least four times during my week. The owner was so awesome and I loved browsing the little handmade trinkets while I waited for my latte. (Best espresso ever, get the Jorah!!) **Be sure to check the facebook before you go** The store does not have regular hours and the pastries are first-come first-serve and differ day to day. This is such a fun little spot. It's part coffee shop, part gift shop. They run on "Island time" so be sure to check their hours before showing up! We came here twice during our stay. They make a limited number of each food item a day and if you want a breakfast sandwich or burrito you better get there early! Our first time in, we were lucky enough to snag the last breakfast biscuit. We paired that with a cinnamon roll and an iced butterscotch latte. Today we grabbed chocolate croissants and the brown sugar cinnamon latte. The coffees on both days were part of their season fall menu and we're delicious, they use Ghirardelli syrups which are just fantastic and rich. The cinnamon roll was soft and gooey, and the breakfast biscuit was super filling. The biscuit was room temp as they cook it once in the morning and do not reheat them, but honestly it was so good as is. I do have to say that my all time favorite was the chocolate croissant. I wish I had a scale, because these suckers were HEAVY. Buttery, flaky croissant dough folded around Ghirardelli chocolate chips and it was decadent and gooey and I couldn't finish it in one sitting. We were driving through Outerbanks and craving a coffee! We wanted to stop at a local place because we kept seeing them pop up, and decided to stop at Beads & Beans! This was an amazing coffee shop selling some delicious looking pastries, awesome coffees, and cool jewelry! I got my standard Americano, which was delicious of course, and Lena got the Dwayne Johnson coffee! I forgot exactly what was in it, but she loved it! Great little place to pick up a fancy coffee, homemade pastry, and a last minute gift for the neighbor who watered your plants while you were gone. The owner's Facebook page is a great follow as she is real, honest, and sometimes downright funny. I feel like I know her, but I don't. Best cinnamon bun ever! We were on vacation and I visited twice. The first time I ordered a "caramel brûlée" after hearing multiple customers order it, it was too sweet for me, as I enjoy the flavor of espresso. The caramel brûlée tasted mostly like syrup. My family member who tried it, really enjoyed it, as they like sweets. The same day I ordered a cinnamon bun and apple turnover. The cinnamon bun was fantastic. The apple turnover lacked flavor for me. But the dough was great. The second visit. I ordered an iced caramel latte with oat milk and it was great! This is by far my favorite store I've ever been to in OBX. I always spend way too much to add to my witchy collection they have the BEST selection of candles, crystals, stuffed animals etc. the store part itself is the coolest. The fresh pastries they put out everyday are also phenomenal. I check their FB every morning to see what's on the menu! I've loved every croissant and turnover and scone I've had there. Cute, cute, cute! The lady at the counter was super friendly without being overbearing. The coffee and pastries were delicious! Get there early for a wider variety. This place has some of the best coffee I've ever had in my life!! My boyfriend and I stopped in here on our way to Hatteras Island and I'm so happy we did!! We both ordered red eyes and the staff adds the cream and sugar for you. They also have a cool gift shop and people were raving about the cinnamon rolls, but they were sold out. The coffee server was arrogant and rude when I asked her why milk in my coffee had curdled. she said I can throw it outside since I already paid for it when I told her I can't drink it even it is considered "normal" for some kind of milk to curdle in their too acidic coffee. read more

Went twice on vacation. Lady at counter was exceptionally rude. Seemed annoyed that we were there, and complained that more customers were arriving when she wanted to close. They have very limited hours, and they are inconsistent and definitely not set hours. Coffee was mediocre. The younger girl who helped with the crystals was very nice and knowledgeable. read more

The chocolate muffin was pretty fantastic , the lattes that were made for us were pretty good. However, the customer service and attitudes of the people working in this place was about as friendly as a snarling dog left too long in a hot car. We came in and my husband and I greeted THEM, But there was no "good morning, how are you guys" returned to us. We got a real sour look or blank expressions from them after we came in and said our good mornings. I worked in the retail industry for many years and I would Never think to give any customer such cold treatment. One of two coffee shops near the Cape Hatteras KOA. Coffee is nice and strong for a good price (cheaper than a well known coffee chain). Got an iced americano with oat milk and tried out a couple of their specialty coffees over our trip. All pretty good just a tad sweet on the lattes. The inside is just a coffee bar and the rest is a gift shop. However, there is little to no space to wait in line (a line that can get quite long on the weekend) and even less space to wait for your coffee (although service is super quick which was a huge plus). Wished there was more space to wait/look around the gift shop as avoiding other customers was near impossible (and they weren't always the nicest). This place is such a cute gem!! We stopped on our drive to the Hatteras Lighthouse and are SO glad we did. The store is clean, beautiful and so charming. We tried the Hatteras Jack latte and it was DELICIOUS. This is some of the best coffee I've ever had!!! Do yourself a favor and stop here! I walked here from my beach house and was surprised by how many different handmade pieces were for sale inside. There's everything from bracelets to mortars and pestles here! No place to sit inside to drink my frozen drink, but there was a bit of outdoor seating. I'll definitely be back in the future. read more

Duck's Cottage is a coffee and book shop located in the waterfront shops in Duck, NC. There's…read moreplenty of free parking in the lot in the complex, but there's limited indoor and outdoor seating. They've recently changed their weekend hours to close earlier at 12pm on Saturdays. They also accept tap to pay, but enact a % charge on all credit transactions. The ambiance inside can be described as rustic and quaint. It's really cute if you're looking to read and chill. It can get crowded as they're usually busy, but this is a great place to come if you're looking to relax. They have both hot and iced drinks with milk alternatives. The iced drinks come in medium (16oz) and large and the hot drinks come in small (12oz), medium and large. The banana cream pie latte was delicious. It tasted like caramel and bananas, paired well with the coffee, and was the perfect amount of sweet. The bumbleberry pie was okay too but the fruit and coffee combination wasn't my favorite. I'd definitely recommend coming here in the morning for coffee and browsing for books if you're in Duck, NC.

Beads and Beans OBX was hands-down one of our favorite parts of our Outer Banks trip. We stopped by every single day -- and honestly, we looked forward to it each morning! The coffee is rich, smooth, and made with care, and the baristas are some of the friendliest people you'll meet. They remembered us and made us feel like regulars by day two. The vibe of this place is super cozy and unique -- part coffee shop, part bead store, and all-around good energy. Whether we were fueling up before a day at the beach or just relaxing with a latte and a pastry, Beads and Beans never disappointed. The iced coffees and specialty drinks were always on point, and their baked goods were fresh and delicious. If you're anywhere near Rodanthe or just passing through OBX, this spot is a must. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town -- already missing it! read more

Wish we would've found this coffee place right when we got to the OBX. We settled for pricey coffee that wasn't very good for just about our entire trip because it was closest to the campground, and didn't find this place until the end of our stay. Great coffee, great environment, great bakery. The young barista made us a couple of their frozen specialty drinks, a latte macchiato, and two smoothies. The smoothies tasted fresh, the coffee was stronger than the other places', and my latte macchiato was the best I'd had in a while. Definitely a must when vacationing. read more
