I have been shopping with frog Island for almost a decade. The first time I complained about…read moresomething - 2 pounds of the steam shrimp being completely overcooked and inedible - and called right away. I was treated like a criminal. I was told by Hannah, apparently the daughter of the owner, that she couldn't do anything, but finally agreeing to replace 1 pound of the 2 pounds I purchased. No refund option. (I live 45 minutes away) I went in, gave them another chance to do the right thing, talked to them again, and they still refused to give me a refund or replace the whole order. They said I should've taken a picture of the overcooked shrimp. Huh? In what world does that even make sense? And I asked her, the day I talked to her about this, if she wanted me to pick the shrimp out out of the garbage and bring it to her and she said no. I guess they have enough business that they don't need the locals. It's a shame. But I am not ever going to do business with them again. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? Whatever happened to standing by your product?

First let me say that I normally don't like fried seafood because it's usually heavily breaded and…read moregreasy. Same goes for the leaden greasy hushpuppies. Well, you won't find that here!! Stumbled upon this unassuming gem while traveling for business. The number of cars in the parking lot was a good indication. When you walk in, it looks like a typical fish market that you would find in this area with a fish counter full of fresh offerings. Go around the counter & you'll see some tables & booths and a window into a small kitchen. You order at the register next to the window & are given a number. When your order is ready, you go to the counter to pick up. We were in heaven when we got our food! Everything was fried to perfection with a light flavorful coating. The scallops were huge & fresh! The soft shell crab was out of this world!...so juicy and flavorful!! The hushpuppies...I have to rave about these!! They're light, with a delicate crispy outside leading to an almost cake-like interior. They were delicious!!! The portions were generous and the prices excellent. Best of all is that this is obviously family run. Needless to say we polished off everything. This place is a definite keeper on my list & I honestly am still covering another taste of those scallops & soft shell crab. If you want ambiance, this isn't it. If you want service, this isn't it either....BUT if you want great Down East seafood, THIS is a must try!

Love the ambience, staff was amazing, drinks were delicious, and the meal was absolute perfection…read more We had the tomato pie to start, which was so so wonderful, fresh, and a great way to set the tone for the meal. I had the Duck, which was a perfectly prepared classic French duck breast with a blueberry twist. Another in my group had the shrimp and grits soufflés, which on paper sounds a little weird but it is a must try. Extremely smart take on a classic dish, and nice to see a "shrimp and grits" dish in OBX that isn't literally just another shrimp and grits. Really loved this spin on it and it's extremely well executed. Another had the catch of the day, a wonderfully prepared tilefish that is a knockout for any fish lover in your group. The person that ordered with us is actually not a seafood person in the slightest and she loved the whole meal. We also had the lemon pie (which was incredible), not too lemony not too tart not too sweet, the Goldilocks of lemon pies. And last but not least the chocolate "s'mores" style dish that was an excellent take on a deconstructed s'more, leveled up to a gourmet presentation. Put this on the top of your list when you're in town!

Oysters were awesome and the variety option was cool. Salad was perfect. Never had or heard of fish toast but it made the filet flavorful. The steak was awesome and prepared perfectly. Overall a memorable evening on the bay.
