I had an emergency dental visit during the holidays for onset of tooth pain from wisdom teeth and I ended up being referred to Beacon for wisdom teeth removal where I was seen by Dr. Lieblick. The overall experience was poor. They only provide out of network insurance coverage, which typically means an increased cost to the patient, but I was assured by Dr. Lieblick the surgery would be uncomplicated after doing X-rays and I was eager to have some pain relief and get rid of the problem. After my surgery, there was no post op check from the doctor, I was monitored by a dental assistant until my spouse picked me up. I had questions regarding the procedure, but he had already stepped into his next case so no review or discharge was given from him. One week after the surgery, I was still in extensive pain that radiated to my jaw and temple, significant swelling across my face and in the back of my throat making it difficult to swallow, and a foul taste in my mouth. Giving benefit of the doubt, I did a call consultation on a Saturday where the on call doctor, Dr. Rehrer, told me to "ride it out" because the symptoms were normal, but offered to come in if the information above persisted on Monday. I did, so they were able to squeeze me in where Dr. Rehrer took a quick look inside my mouth and told me "everything looks fine, unfortunately you have delayed healing." I came in that Monday seeking help and instead felt dismissed by the surgeon. As a first time mom who is currently nursing and having all these dental issues it has been extremely difficult and painful to eat and even swallow liquid due to swelling and Dr. Rehrer did not offer any further assistance or empathy for that matter. Still in pain, I sought a second opinion from another doctor. They told me Dr. Lieblick left an exposed root, I had dry socket, and I was started on antibiotics and even steroids for the major inflammation. With such a vast difference on the post care diagnosis - I can't help but write a poor review based on my surgery, post op care, and overall experience that left me feeling neglected as a patient. I'm a fan. They're quick and efficient. Dr. Rehrer's office scheduled a same day appointment after my general dentist saw my implant failed. (Bummer, but "false positives" happen so whatever.) We came to Beacon for wisdom teeth removal for my teen daughter. We'd initially had a consultation at another oral surgeon and after leaving we both just felt hesitant, so that's what made me seek another office. After the consultation at Beacon, we'd both felt 100% confident with them. My daughter literally said "that was so much better than the other place, let's go here." If one can have a great experience with oral surgery, this was as close as one could expect. I was treated with respect the entire time by Dr Rehrer and the entire staff. The after surgery service was remarkably, the doctor called at 9 o'clock that night to make sure all was well, really shows compassion and a professional approach. The crowing touch was the flower delivery and nice note. I really don't want to ever go back, but if I need this form of medicine, Beacon will be my first choice. I needed a front tooth removed and an implant placed, and I have to admit I was pretty terrified. On my appointment day I was told at the last minute I couldn't have general anesthesia since I was seeing my dentist the same day for the temporary implant crown. I had to have just a local anesthetic if I were to continue with my surgery. I wanted to just get it over with, so I agreed to the local. This experience ended up being the EASIEST tooth extraction I have ever had, and this included drilling a screw into my face! I swear it took less than 10 minutes and I didn't feel a thing. Doctor and staff were just amazing. They went above and beyond with their professionalism and making feel at ease. I couldn't have asked for a more positive experience. Thank you!! read more

PLEASE do your research before choosing Dr. Brandon Rehrer @ Beacon Oral Surgeons. He was unprofessional, rude, and his after care is unacceptable. If you are a person with anxiety, AVOID this practice. My child was mocked by a staff member and asked "Why are you acting like this?" for crying before sedation. Denied requests for anti-anxiety med prior to surgery (it IS offered at other practices) and horrid after-care (was not given correct pain med dosing info repeatedly) and did not address patient's needs. Told to call at any time with concerns and doctor was extremely angry to get a call at 3am. Had to take vomiting/dehydrated child in extreme pain to Urgent Care to get pain management administered intramuscularly . Did not return pages/calls multiple times in a row and attacked me because "doesn't he deserve a Christmas?" (On Christmas Eve Day) The icing on the cake was being told that he "didn't care what we needed " and that "my daughter was not special!" read more

Nobody really wants write a review about having a tooth pulled... I've now had two experiences with getting unsalvageable molars pulled by Dr. Lieblick both at the Gresham and Camas locations. The office staff are very nice and helpful. The dental/surgical assistants are extremely knowledgeable and professional, walking you through the process from start to finish. Dr. Lieblick has a great bedside manner and a gentle hand, is patient in answering questions (I'm full of them), and is very reassuring in talking you through the procedure as he is doing it. He makes getting a tooth extracted about as pleasant a process as it can be. I was really anxious to do the first procedure last year without general anesthesia (it's so expensive!) but I really felt no pain or discomfort with just the local. As a healthy 41 year old with zero health issues I unfortunately was diagnosed with root resorption in multiple lower front teeth. It was a tough diagnosis to hear as I was informed that several of my teeth were failing and would ultimately need to be extracted. At age 41 I did not want a partial and the subsequent bone loss that would gradually take place thereafter...implants needed to happen. A good friend recommended Dr. Lieblick from Beacon oral surgery and I'm so glad I went to see him! Dr. Lieblick is not only one of the top OMF surgeons in the country but he's also personable, professional and organized. From start to finish the whole process was smooth and hiccup free. Dr. Lieblick confirmed diagnosis with a same day CT scan and came up with a straight forward treatment plan. My surgery and recovery were smooth and easy...rock solid implants in! For the crown/bridge portion of the plan, coordination with my prostodontist (Dr. Bray at Portland Prosthodontics....also very highly recommended) was seamless. Six extractions, bone grafting and four implants later and I just couldn't be happier with my experience and results. If I didn't know that I had surgery I would have a hard time telling that I had implants and a bridge....my smile and bite are BETTER than my original gear. I wish I could give 6 stars. read more

I was very impressed with Dr. Rehrer and Beacon. The staff were all very professional and nice. I followed the recommendations given to me before hand and afterwards and am now a few weeks after the surgery. No pain really as long as I take the ibuprofen. Didn't need anything stronger. Just a mild aching at most. Dr. Rehrer even personally called me that night after the surgery to check on me. And the staff all sent me a card as well. read more

I was seen at the Vancouver location for an initial evaluation (sort of a pre-op appointment) of a lower molar. It had lost a filling more than 6 months ago, but I was on the Medicaid program. . . While on said insurance I was only allowed one checkup & cleaning per year, & I either had to have it pulled (clear up in seattle--174 miles away) or pay out of pocket ($1300 & also a trip to Tacoma--143 mile). Needless to say, dental HMO's that deal strictly with Medicaid & Medicare do as little as possible (the State doesn't even allow for nitrous oxide)so they can keep their funding. However, the shoddy treatment has cost me a mouth full of healthy teeth. Hence, the drastic need to remove this tooth. The Beacon team(s) is terrific! During the pre-op appointment it was explained to me everything that would happen when they performed my tooth extraction. I explained to them that I have been diagnosed with Major-Depressive Disorder (MDD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from childhood trauma, & Borderline Personality Disorder, & they comforted me by confirming that they have clients that are mentally & physically challenged & with social anxieties like mine. I was treated like I was the most important person in the room, & I don't get that a lot (unless I'm on stage). My procedure was scheduled in the Gresham, OR office, & I was treated just as prestigiously as I was in Vancouver. I asked specifically for a business card with individual names of the folks on "my team." My memory being what it is I wanted to give a shout to Patti, who tried to comfort me & hold my hand. Two thumbs super up for Dominique & Sydney. I think it was Sydney that had new (that day) retainers in & was self-conscious about her lisp (which I find attractive, appealing, sexy. . . depends on the moment). I told her that I love lisps; I had a crush on Phil Donahue (you'll have to Google) as a young teen. While being fitted for the nitrous mask, I informed Patti (I think it was only Pattti in the room at that moment--just before meeting Sydney, I think) that I can panic when I feel like I'm being strapped in &/or feeling like someone is smothering me (something on my face), & she IMMEDIATELY reached out & rubbed my forearm with enough energy 2 drive out the fear. It was both weird AND AWESOME!!! Eventually, I let her know that I could see her soul, aura, mind, heart. . . or whatever the word of choice. . . & it is golden, like Ponyboy (Hinton, S.E. The Outsiders. Viking Press, 1967.). While on the laughing gas, I let it be known that I dabble in stand up--something I seldom do unless I'm promoting someone else. I met my dentist, Mr. Brandon S. Rehrer, DDS, in a state of pure authenticity, & proclaimed: "Ima tell e'ryone to put the weed down & start totin' nitrous tank backpacks." He told me "that was funny." Why is it always an honor for me to make someone laugh? When the laugh is pure & BEFORE they know I perform, I am always flattered. Also, I got a swag bag full of goodies! After Care instructions, an irrigation syringe, two bags of tea, a bunch of iodized salt packets (very thoughtful!), a few other things (like a DQ treat--can't eat it, allergic to dairy), & the business card that reads: "You Did Awesome, Tracey G. =)" Lastly, Mr. Barndon S. Rehrer, DDS, called me that night to make certain I was recovering. When I returned the call, the receptionist even asked if there was anything else they could do for me. It made me feel important. Recovery pain is so much easier to contend with than an exposed nerve. For a trip to a dental surgeon, it was a satisfying. I highly recommend this office for any oral and maxillofacial work. read more

Just today I had a wisdom teeth extraction here. Needless to say, I will never be returning again. I requested to keep the extracted teeth, as it was something I had been looking forward to for many many years. The nurse told me that I could keep them and I would be given a bag to hold them in. After the procedure, I came to, asked for the teeth and she said they had been thrown away and could not be retrieved from the bio-hazard container. I only have one set of wisdom teeth for my entire life, and now they are gone forever because someone doesn't know how to do their job. Thanks a lot. read more

Just as Shirley B. noted, Dr. Rehrer and his team were wonderful. I also had an implant procedure, and was quite nervous about what it entailed. When I threatened to cry, I was given a tissue and reassured by everyone's calm demeanor. Once I was numbed up, the procedure really did only take about 20 minutes at most. The call that evening from Dr. Rehrer to make sure I was okay as well as the flowers that I received this morning from the practice all went a long way to make me feel that my well being was important to them. And to boot, I only needed to take one dose of ibuprofen--pain and swelling were almost absent. I hands down recommend Dr. Rehrer and team! read more

I was in need of a extraction. I was referred to the Beacon Clinic by my dentist. I will never return to them as a patient again It seemed to me that they're main concern of the day was selling me a implant. I sat thru a 2 hr sales pitch then was told I'd have to return 3 days later for the extraction. I made a fuss and they did the extraction. And the extraction went very well. It took all total about 15mins. I had told them that my decision for the implant would be based on cost. Of course they would give me no cost until after repeated attempts to sell the product first. Very expensive. To much so for the very back tooth in my mouth. And what if it was a front tooth???? Do only rich people have the benefit of a pretty smile???? read more

I have never had any sort of anxiety or fear of seeing doctors or dentists. I recently went in to have my wisdom teeth pulled, and I will definitely not be recommending Beacon to anyone. I walked in and immediately felt like "just another wisdom teeth extraction". They rushed me in as if they were on a time crunch. They strapped me to the chair with leather straps around my wrists. And then snapped the oxygen mask on my nose without caring about comfort. Then the "Doctor" came in and started the IV. I have a heart condition and have received many IVs. None as painful as this one. I kept telling the five or so people in the very small room to stop because I needed some time to calm down (they strapped me to the table- that caused some anxiety) and they refused and held me down. I then began yelling and screaming, mid-anxiety attack. Then I fell asleep. I woke up to nurses saying my name, pushing me into the wheelchair to wheel me out of there. I woke up mid-push. I was not in the bed. I was being carried as I was still under anesthesia to the wheelchair so they could get on to the next patient. They gave me no time to remember where I was or to wake up. I was traumatized. Instead of spending the car ride home being hilariously "high" and keeping my family entertained, I spent the ride home crying, completely traumatized from that experience. I will never go back there. I recommend that you don't either. read more

I just had my wisdom teeth removed, and before hand I was TERRIFIED! The staff here were really kind, efficient, and helpful. This was the second oral surgeon I called, the first being really rude and demanding, resulting in my expectations to be set pretty high. Dr. Windell's office exceeded everything I could have imagined them doing. They educated me on everything they were going to do. I had a very friendly nurse/buddy that reassured me that she'd be with me the whole time. Dr. Windell was very professional, knowledgeable, and at the same time, friendly and comforting. The procedure went really fast (I recommend the IV), and when it was over (I was pretty out of it) my buddy put my jacket and scarf on for me and wheeled me to the car. Upon leaving, they gave me a gift bag (silver embossed with the practices name) that came with a water syringe, salt packets, tea bags, pamphlets, chap stick, and a Boost drink. The next day my buddy called to check in on me and a week later I got a hand written Thank You letter in the mail signed by all the staff. I truly felt taken care of by these great people. They really do go above and beyond. These people know what they are doing. I recommend them 100%! read more
