So we sat in the lobby for 45 minutes, watching patients who came in after us be seen, while she has been ignored. Additionally, it's very loud in here. We didn't want to hear about the personal habits of the admins, including their shoe shopping. The financial person in the very back was loud enough to be heard down the hallway out of the Andersen building. Now at an hour of wait time, when a fifth patient who arrived after us was seen before my sister, we're told the delay is due to another department who is running behind. Of course, they took the co-pay at walk-in. My sister has a neurodivergence disability; the staff at the desk have been extremely intolerant, impatient, and challenging to deal with. No information about the exam, or what to expect, or how to prepare was shared beyond "look us up on the internet". When my sister was finally seen for her ultrasound with Joe, he didn't explain what he was going to do before doing it. He was impatient when she asked questions. She was cold, and in pain, and put into positions that caused additional pain. The PA was great, patient and understanding. My sister never saw the doctor. Bottom line: Unless you have all day to sit and wait for the staff to decide you get seen, choose another practice.

A few years ago, I saw Dr. Blanton at Boulder Medical Gastroenterology and had a great experience…read more Since I'm considered high-risk, I marked my calendar to return this past July for my three-year follow-up. Because I hadn't heard from them, I called to schedule--only to find that no one answers the phone in scheduling. I repeatedly called, left messages, and kept missing the return calls. This went on for months until September, when I finally reached someone. I learned that Dr. Blanton had left the practice, so I scheduled with Dr. Emily Ward instead. I provided my insurance information (unchanged since my last visit) and the name of my referring provider, and the scheduler confirmed everything was in-network. About a month later, I received a voicemail stating they had no record of my insurance. When I called back, I was told they did have my information and that someone would reach out the first week of December regarding my December 17 appointment. By December 10, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called again to ask about prep instructions. I later received a message saying they needed my PCP's information (which I had already provided) and that I needed lab work--something I've never needed before. With my procedure only four business days away and prep needed in three days, I have no time to arrange labs. I called this morning to talk with someone, but once again, no one answered. I left a voice msg canceling my appointment and will be finding another practice--one with better communication and competence. The customer service has drastically declined since my last visit. Adding to my concerns was my husband's experience at this facility. After completing the prep, we were literally getting into the car for his colonoscopy when they called to CANCEL because their equipment wasn't working! Anyone who's gone through a colonoscopy prep knows how unpleasant that is. They rescheduled him, but he needed a new $75 prep prescription. He refused to pay for it since they canceled, and after some back-and-forth, they agreed to provide it--but he had to drive to Boulder to pick it up, costing him an hour of missed work. Three years ago, I would have highly recommended Dr. Blanton. I don't know what's changed, but I will not be returning to this facility.

In the process she asked me 3-4 times for my name... then the same for my birthdate... then for my appointment time... then continued fumbling around while squinting at her monitor, apparently trying to figure out how to use the program. By the time she had figured things out, I was ONE MINUTE past my appointment window... a lateness which she had caused... so she told me that I had to go to another counter. "Don't worry," she said, "They just have to tell the doctor." So I went to where she directed me to go and spoke to a pleasant woman who left me several times to talk to someone (Dr. Berlioz?). Ultimately, she told me that I would have to reschedule, even though I had arrived on time and it was Berlioz's staff who had caused the check-in tardiness. I asked to speak to the Office Manager, to explain the situation... confident that the person would acknowledge their obvious error and get me in to see Dr. Berlioz (mostly to get an expired prescription renewed). A stern woman named Maria (?) came out and immediately made it clear that I would have to reschedule... not caring that THEY had caused the situation.., and to come to this appointment I had gone to two bloods draws, missed work and driven from Louisville... as well as how my prescription would not be renewed/refilled without this visit. My logic/predicament fell on uncaring, deaf ears. I am just so, so disappointed in Dr. Ramirez-Berlioz and her staff. Not only did they refuse to see me (despite their error), but they have yet to contact me afterwards (as promised by the Office Manager). Further, they had the nerve to charge me $75 for this... and my prescription has now lapsed. What a blatant violation of the Hippocratic Oath! This is a systemic problem within Boulder Medical Center. Poor treatment of patients and poor communication. I have filed complaints against Dr. Berlioz with the Colorado Medical Board, and against the facility with CDPHE.

The ER physician misdiagnosed the symptoms as 'psychosis' and arranged for me to be placed on an M1 hold and transferred to Cedar Springs Hospital psychiatric institution in Colorado Springs later that day. This assessment was not competent and was gravely in error. Two days later, on July 23, 2025, I was transferred to the UC Memorial Health Center ER in Colorado Springs by ambulance from Cedar Springs Hospital and placed under intensive care due to asphyxiation from choking on vomit during tonic-clonic seizures. The staff at Cedar Springs claimed I had fallen and hit my head at their facility, which my care team at Memorial Hospital was able to find no evidence of. I was put on a ventilator and a tracheal tube was inserted. By that point I already had pneumonia. To quote an MD from the Memorial Hospital case notes on July 23, "The specific organ or organ systems failed or in danger of failing were Cardiovascular, Neurological, and Respiratory." To quote his colleague on July 24, "Patient's condition is life-threatening and without ongoing intervention would deteriorate." A third Physician on July 26 noted, "BH [Behavior Health] evaluated him and he is NOT gravely disabled and does not meet any M1 hold criteria," and, "This pt [patient] has Epilepsy." This was the neurologist who observed the tonic-clonic seizures on EEG. I was discharged from Memorial Hospital and sent home later that day. Respiratory failure and tonic-clonic seizure are known to cause permanent death of brain tissue and irreversible injury to the brain. They should have just sedated me and put me on EEG, that's not hard or expensive. But I guess then they don't get to bill the insurance for as much. Would not recommend.

It took a month to close the finger wound which was not a good outcome of my poor choice. This winter I had a worse but similar insult to the same finger so I did go to the ER and their efficient care of the finger allowed it to heal properly. This time we made the same choice for a smaller ct on a different finger and it has healed extremely well. From the moment I arrived, bloody hand wrapped , I was treated efficiently and politely, from register g window to assessment to treatment. Clerical staff and medical staff are well trained. On 1 visit, I actually needed an MD but the most recent used a PA who did a fine job. The various techs who were used to clean the wounds as well as remove stitches later were also efficient and accurate at task. I am lucky to have this fairly near by, though not as close as when BCH had the facility right in town. Back then it was a much shorter distance for my family, especially when transporting one of my children. But progress requires more and different space and with this facility accessible to a few highways it is better for the greater community that has moved to the suburbs of Boulder. Since I have good insurance and have used this facility in the past. They can process my emergencies quite quickly. There were other patients in line too, some with far greater injuries so appropriate that they were taken even more quickly and were served by the discs. Broken ribs from bicycle incidents have been other cases with priority both times. Such a Boulder situation so be careful out there!
