My mom's tire was leaking. Someone told us that it needed to be replaced. Then someone else told us there was a nail. I stopped by Beacon and they did a very thorough check, multiple times until they found the issue. It was a plug from a previous nail that was leaking. They recommended to not replug it (could get worse) and they didn't charge me for doing all of that investigative work. Super nice guy! read more

Last week, out of nowhere my oil leaked out of my c230 Mercedes. Was worried it was my entire transmission that got ruined. Called a bunch of auto shops to find out a little of what the possible problem could be without going in and being told this & that-and getting charged. I call Beacon & Favio over the phone was very welcoming to my situation, the problem, and taught me a little background of the problem + solutions. Being a woman, I feared being ripped off or told something just to get more $ out of me. That was NOT the case here. Moe & Favio are excellent mechanics who know best for whatever problem you may have, they are welcoming, and do not take advantage of women who don't know about cars. As I took off in the morning, my tire pressure alert indicated that one of my tires had a low pressure -29 vs 39 for others. I found Beacon Auto Care on Yelp based on a great rating and stopped by. Hamooda was able to check my tire when I arrived and noticed that there was a nail. I was so surprised that he was able to see the nail head which was pretty small and hidden. He took my care in and did his magic in no time. He was also very patient and answered my questions about when to replace my tires. He even went out of the way to check the inventory with a supplier and get a good price on new tires. I ended up not to replace the tires for now and he was very respective of my decision. The price for plugging the tire was very reasonable and he did a great job. What a wonderful experience! I will certainly return whenever I have the needs for repair or upgrade. read more

I can not rave about this place more! Mo is the absolute nicest guy and goes above and beyond! My husband and I were on a long van trip and broke down a few miles away. We called Beacon and Mo told us to get the van towed to them and they would do their best to squeeze us in. (It was Memorial Day weekend and we showed up after noon on a Saturday) They diagnosed our problem and even let us hang out in the van while we waited. We struck up a conversation about Jeeps since he's a proud owner himself. Mo, Favio and everyone at the shop have been amazing helpful people and have earned my trust as a reliable shop. Their prices are fair, and their business is built on honesty. I've been more than happy with the services here and can't recommend them enough for any technical needs! They also specialize in BMWs, which is rare to find since many mechanics don't seem to care about them. My check engine light was on for two years, and every place I went to always told me that they didn't know what was going on and that they'd have to take apart everything and blah blah blah. Basically they were going to find a reason to juice you for all you're worth. Beacon wasn't like that. They popped the hood made some initial assessment and gave me a preliminary quote. They had my ride for a few days and when I got it back, it was everything was a-okay. No more engine light and they even fixed a few other things while they were in there. I usually take my car to the dealer to service my car. But the cost is just too high, so i was looking for an independent car care that could service my car for a more reasonable price. My friends kept telling me about Beacon Auto Care. They took their car to Beacon and were very satisfied with the work they did on their care and how helpful the staff was. I wanted to give them a try, but I live in San Bruno and Beacon is located in San Mateo. My son took his car to Beacon and was very pleased with the work they did on his car and suggested I call them and find out what they would charge me. So I called them and asked what they would charge for everything that the dealer did and was very surprised much lower the cost would be. After getting positive feedback from friends and my son I decided to call Beacon and schedule an appointment. It's been about a week since Beacon serviced my car and I am very satisfied with the work they did. My car is running great and the staff is very helpful. So good bye dealer and hello Beacon. I originally rated this 5 stars but unfortunately have to drop it to 3 stars. Positives: Mo is friendly, professional, and works with you on price. However, the part replacement job didn't work out, so it ended up just being money down the drain. The car's check engine light turned back on just a few weeks after the repair here, and the next mechanic shop I went to said it looked like a botched job. They also told me they test drove the car to make sure it was running fine, but my car's odometer hadn't changed. I'm not sure how much of this is Beacon Auto Care's issue vs. just my car especially with their other positive reviews, but I saw another review saying this so sharing in case this is helpful. read more

First of all let's start with the exceptional customer service. Not only did they offer the service requested which was breaks and rotors but they also checked my fluids as well. They were really quick to respond and get me a quote for the job I needed done. They also checked to see if they had all the parts before bringing my car in so there would be no surprises once I got there. They asked me when would be good for me I gave them a date range and they told me to bring it in that morning. Once I dropped it off they asked how soon I needed it. Being I would be staying the night in the area I told them to take their time and just text me when it's ready (I love the text updates). That afternoon I got a text when it was ready, went to pick it up. The guy was able to look up my cars history and suggested to me that I probably should get my transmission inspected due to the type of car I have and would get me a Quote, which I appreciate. Just picked my 2009 Toyota RAV4 up from Beacon. She had a lot of issues gradually show more and more - noticed lots of squeaking, excess movement when driving over bumps, clicking when accelerating and turning, wobble when breaking, you name it. I knew I needed to find some help, and good help, at that. I researched basically all the auto shops around San Mateo, looking for reliable and trustworthy partners, quality work, and a place that wouldn't break my bank. In the deep research dive, Beacon stood out with clients' positive reviews on price-point, trustworthiness, and service quality. Check, check, and check. I called in on a Tuesday, and Favio set me up with an appointment on Thursday. Their scheduling was flexible and open. My initial ask was for an oil change and to diagnose the noises and driving play. Since I was a first-time client, Favio conducted a full inspection at no charge. After a few hours, they sent a digital Inspection Report which was highly detailed with photos, diagram references, performance ratings for each inspection point, with notes and service recommendations for each point as well. Moe took the time to answer questions I had over the phone, which helped me understand their assessments even better. I ended up approving six services, replacing rear brake rotors and pads, serpentine belt & tensioner replacement, front sway bar link... etc. Beacon was super fair about pricing and they also demonstrated that they really care about their clients, and strive to provide exceptional service and guidance. The guys were accommodating for when I was able to pick my car up, and also flexible for bringing her back the next day to finish the job. They didn't push me to approve all the services, and instead shared their expertise and recommendations. Overall, Moe and Favio remained super communicative, engaging, and professional. After just driving my car home, it's a clear and positive difference from how she was performing before taking her in. No squeaks, drives straight over bumps and when braking, with no extra steering play or movement... no wobbling or clicking or clanking. Just drives like she's brand new. I feel so stress free now, it's like a weight lifted off my shoulders! Moe & Favio really took care of her, and me by extension! I'm relieved to find a high quality place where the guys know their stuff, and give their clients the best service.
