This hotel is right on the water front and has its own private beach access. It was easy walking distance to a variety of great places to eat and to listen to live music during our stay. We loved the view from inside the room and from the balcony. Housekeeping did a wonderful job of preparing our room for our arrival and restocking on the day we needed a few more items. There were so many options for personalizing our room stay, but we were happy with what came standard in the room. We arrived early and got a parking pass so we could go out and explore the area while waiting for check-in. The check-in process was also quick and easy. We started each day with the complimentary breakfast items and were happy with the options. I stopped in at the end of each night to grab hot apple cider from the lobby, and we enjoyed it while sitting at one of the many fire pits before going back to the room. The only odd moment was on our last night when two fire pits turned off as we went to sit at them. The first turned off next to the lobby, then we moved to a second in the pool area that also turned off. After the second one, we just went back to our room and looked back to see both working again. We went back out and sat for a few minutes by the upper deck fire and both stayed lit. We had a great experience overall and we will be back soon.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! We had a great experience and we enjoyed the room, the facilities, the pool, the breakfast, and beach access. It's a perfect location and we didn't have to move our car, due to the Village only being a few blocks away. We enjoyed walking everywhere and it's a perfect location!

When I am on vacation, I don't want to work hard. The Beach Terrace truly felt like a slice of paradise and I didn't have to work to enjoy the beach. Pros: Quiet, boutique, private No music playing at the pool or on the beach (I really appreciate that) Front row to the beach Walking distance to restaurants Beach service valet - chairs, umbrella, body boards, beach toys Multiple fire pits and blankets Bike rentals (for 18+ years) Plenty of outlets Easy, dedicated parking directly across the street - complimentary EV charger Offers complimentary postcards and will send Cons: Can't use amenities until you check-in No jacuzzi No refresh of the room (or they missed ours) No blackout shades - but who needs them when the day starts out a bit overcast anyway? Every room had a view. It was so peaceful and well-decorated. The beds were plush and comfy. Communication was great and notices well-placed - like in the rooms, they support all "enlightenment" and have readings available for any curious mind (rather than your standard Bible from The Gideons), on the pool deck, they have a sign that lets you know what is permitted and not (e.g., no Marco Polo to preserve the quiet and restful vibe). Staff work incredibly hard and essentially non-stop: sweeping, setting up chairs/umbrellas, cleaning out the sand filter when you wash off the sand after you spend time in the beach. This was one of my favorite beach experiences and I definitely plan to splurge and return.

Is that a sperm or yogurt stain?

We got to experience 2 nights here. Receptionist was very friendly and gave good suggestions for the area. There is an amenity fee but it includes things we definitely enjoyed like the pool, firepit, beach chairs, umbrella, bike and breakfast. Parking was not included however. One night was with a "horizon" view even though it was called a "partial" beach view when booking - there was no partial view except a whole view of a roof. We decided to upgrade the other night, $50 more, for a full beach view and to get away from the stained pillow and chair that the front desk said children caused. Room was a lot bigger and you can hear the waves in that room. More importantly, it was cleaner - no biological stains on the decor, which made the first night feel like a motel 6.

10/10 would recommend. Property is super clean, staff is incredibly nice, and you have in-room beach amenities to use! I really liked the breakfast, super tasty. Both free and in room brunch offerings. Really close by tons of food and shopping and literally on the beach. A huge shoutout for their eco friendly efforts, really loved seeing so much glass at breakfast and compostable cups/cutlery. We had a marvelous time on our baby moon and can't wait to return when the little one is born!

Talk about a gorgeous ocean view! This place is as close as you can get to the ocean without being in it. The rooms are immaculately clean and thoughtfully designed. I love the patio! It has shuttered blinds to keep the room dark but allow you to see out to the ocean. The sounds of the waves at night and in the morning were so peaceful, I wish I had that every day. Staff are very kind and accommodating. Anything we needed, they were happy to help. The hotel is centrally located to all the restaurants and bars, just a short walk over. Peking here is free and convenient. This was such a fun stay, from start to finish!

We loved our stay at Beach Terrace! The service from the hotel staff was great from start to finish. I especially appreciated the texts/emails ahead of our arrival to ensure everything was ready for us. The room was clean, large and extremely comfortable - of course you also can't be the oceanfront view! The location was also super convenient with tons of shops and restaurants within a short walking distance. Can't wait to stay again!

Ask the Community - Beach Terrace

How much is a 2 night stay?

It depends on the type of room and time of year. If it's peak season it could cost you close to $1500+ for 2 nights. If you don't mind going without a view the price goes down.

Which airport is closest to this hotel?

I use the San Diego International airport (SAN). You could use the LA airport (LAX) if you prefer but it's over 30 min further away.

    How much is this?

Too much for a cockroach infested hotel. I haven't posted a review yet. However, we couldn't get past the cockroaches and the paper thin walls. The manager claims cockroach infestation is caused by the close proximity of water... The manager… Read more

Has anyone had issues with people bringing large canopies? As in view blocking?

No, though I haven't stayed on the first floor. The first floor is slightly elevated so it may not be an issue.

Parking was valet only which was quick and seamless (and free!). The staff at the entry of the hotel was super helpful in providing directions to get down to the pool as one of my girlfriend's said it was a little confusing to find, but I was given a clear guide on how to get down there and got there without issue. We had our own server at the cabana who provided us with our free fruit plate and bottle of bubbly to share, and took food and drink orders. She and her coworkers checked on us pretty frequently and kept us well-stocked. The day was a little overcast and cloudy but the pool was a lovely cool temp, and the jacuzzi was in the same general area so when we got a little chilly we hopped on over. After spending some time in the adult-only pool area, we headed up to the family friendly deck and took a couple of runs down the slides, which was super fun. Around the time we were meant to clear out, our server was super sweet and let us know they would just start to pick up around us but we were welcome to stay longer if we wanted to, since there was no one coming in behind us. We continued relaxing until we were all ready to go but first we got to chatting with another staff member, Bryan, who was super rad and shared all his favorite nearby spots to eat. The staff is really so wonderful here! Very friendly and professional. Overall my first visit to the Park Hyatt Aviara was very enjoyable, and I would absolutely visit again (preferably on a hot, sunny day). Highly recommend for any and all poolside celebrations!

We needed a convenient spot near(ish) to Escondido for one night within the Hilton family of hotels…read moreand chose this Homewood Suites location over other brand hotels as we were traveling with our son and wanted to be able to have separate rooms. It's an all suites hotel so it served that need. The room itself on appearance was very nice, perhaps recently refurbished and felt clean and modern. We had a couple experiences which made it a little weird though. The rooms have motion detecting lights that you can only sort of control. The shower for example...the light turns off when you're in the shower as it doesn't sense your motion and there's no way (obvious to us) to force it to stay on. That was a bummer for the 2 of us who wanted to shower but had to do so in the dark unless we opened the shower door and waved our arm around to hopefully catch the attention of the sensor to give us another 30 seconds of light. This also happens if you're sitting on the toilet. The last thing I want to think about in that situation is having to provide additional motion so the light doesn't turn out. In the living space, a light also automatically turns on when it senses motion. Not great for having our son trying to sleep in that room and us having to move through it to leave the room or access the kitchen to have all the lights suddenly turn on around our sleeping boy. Also had a disappointing non-fitness room experience. The fitness room was no accessible because of renovations...okay bad luck in terms of timing...but they said I could go to the adjacent Hampton Inn and use their fitness room which was open 24 hours. So I did, but, unfortunately their fitness room actually isn't open 24 hours as I learned when I got there. So no fitness room and wasted time walking in the rain to the hotel next door based in the inaccurate info given by the staff. So overall disappointing and strange (especially the lights situation)...seems like they forget to dot a few Is when setting these rooms up.

Room itself looked clean and newer, and I like that the layout is bigger than a normal hotel room. Having the small kitchen with fridge, microwave, and sink makes it really convenient when traveling with kids. Bed was comfortable and the room felt modern overall. Breakfast is included which is nice, but the food itself was about a 1-2 out of 5. Selection looked okay -- eggs, potatoes, sausage, waffles -- but quality wasn't great and the waffle area was messy when we went. Still free, so it helps for families. Honestly I booked this mostly for value. Legoland Hotel was around $600-$800 for the night, and this stay was $262 on a Saturday with AAA discount, so big price difference. For families this makes a lot more sense. If I put myself as a kid, this place would actually be pretty cool -- pool, free breakfast, big room, waffle maker, space to move around. That's why I was leaning 4 stars at first. But had to drop it to 3 out of 5 because the toilet in the room was leaking, which you don't expect at this price and at a newer hotel. Little things like that matter, especially with family staying in the room. Overall 3 out of 5. Good value, family friendly, but needs better maintenance. Would still consider staying again for the price.

I don't particularly like this restroom setup, but what are you gonna do? The free breakfast is great. They have a made-to-order omelette station, with an actual person behind a counter taking orders and making your food. They also have a self-serve waffle-making station, oatmeal cups, yogurt, cereal, and a mango-infused water (fancy!). The only thing is that the coffee they offered in the dining room was trash. What you want to do is go visit the Keurig coffee maker by the front desk, which is available to guests all day. Make yourself a cup of coffee from there, and thank me later. There is indoor seating, but do yourself a favor and go out to the patio and enjoy your breakfast outdoors in the perfect Carlsbad morning air. The fitness center is open 24 hours a day, which is a relief and as it should be. There is also a laundry room, with super fast washers and dryers. What I loved most was the room, especially the shower. It had a thoughtfully designed, thick glass door that opened easily. In most hotels, I hesitate before turning on the water, bracing for that sudden burst of heat overhead. But here, everything was arranged with care, so I could step in comfortably and enjoy the shower without that small anxiety. The details in the room made it even better--a Nespresso machine ready for a slow morning, and a proper water kettle, which always feels like a small luxury. The bed was soft and welcoming, the kind you sink into at the end of a long day. We didn't have an ocean view, but the patio had its own charm--quiet, intimate, and enough to make you pause. The best part, though, was the beach. Just a short walk down the stairs, and your feet meet the sand. The shoreline isn't wide, but it stretches beautifully along the coast. That simple routine--down the stairs, onto the sand--became the most memorable part of the stay.

Given the price point, you'd expect a lot more from your hotel, but there were several issues and I'll list them by bullet point to better point them out: * There was a slow leak coming from what looks like an attic opening on the ceiling. We were suspicious after the first night why there was a puddle of water on the ground near the entrance but was very surprised to find out later that it was actually a leak. We left our shoes in that area and unfortunately for me, the water splash got all over my Birkenstocks which has a cork footbed that should not be wet. * The shower leaks quite dramatically from the piping that comes out of the wall, and thus gives us less water pressure. * The coffee machine was not working. The button to start the machine is completely stuck and will not budge. * The TV appears to be very old. They offer Netflix but when you play anything, only the audio would play and the video is stuck on an endless buffering loop. * The hallway lights are super dim. I'm not sure if they are doing that on purpose to save on electricity but it reminds you of entering some hotel in a horror film where visibility is super low because of how dark it is. * The restaurant located inside the hotel is RIDICULOUS with their prices... For breakfast they offer milk and cereal...for $11. I mean c'mon. That's just straight up price gouging. The few positives were that the staff are really nice and accomodating, the beds are comfortable, and the private entrance was really convenient. We were expecting a lot more based on the price we paid and comparing to other hotels in the same tier and unfortunately was quite disappointed.
