Going back as an adult it's definitely changed , some for the better and some just unfortunate. I love the addition of the fountains and I love how it was relaxing and quiet for park . I love how you can see the museum's garden and I love how the play-area isn't very close to the street so kiddos don't get hurt . I had no idea it was a historic landmark so that was fun to read about . Ill be honest , the unfortunate I spoke of is all the litter in the water and around the park. I enjoyed my time here, I'll visit again .

Usually regulars will tie extra poop bags to the fence and bring bottles of water. Because this park is a sump, garbage can sometimes wind up at the bottom of the park, but it's maintained weekly and is usually pretty clean for a dog park. The one thing this place NEEDS desperately is more signage about the rules. Last Sunday, July 11, 2021 we arrived around 8am and found a group of about 20 boys and 4 coaches having football practice. Usually I wouldn't mind this type of thing and welcome the socialization for the dogs, but the kids were not properly talked to about respecting the dog park. One of the boys opened the fence gate and let both of my dogs out, who of course then bolted out into the busy street. I feel that this could have been avoided if there were proper signs about closing the fence and being mindful of the dogs. Especially because this dog park is just the small fenced in area of a larger park, I feel like they could play anywhere and dogs really just have this one spot.

Minner, close to the baseball diamond and picnic shelters. The baseball diamond comes complete with lights, two dugouts, and bleachers behind home plate. There is a small building just West of it which appears to be a concession stand, so I am going to assume that there is either a little league or NOR team that plays here. The setup seems quite elaborate compared to the baseball facilities at most city parks. Just East of the baseball diamond is a covered picnic shelter shading a number of individual picnic tables with a capacity of 80 people and two charcoal grills nearby. You can reserve this picnic shelter for private use by contacting the NOR Parks & Recreation District at 391-2020 and completing an application which can be downloaded here http://norfun.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/FR-100-Use-of-Facility-Online-Packet.pdf The cost is $15 per hour with a 3 hour minimum reservation. There were two other individual picnic tables in the park, but neither had a grill located near them. At first there didn't appear to be public restrooms at this park, but just as I was leaving I saw a building tucked back behind the baseball diamond where there were mens and womens restroom. The women's restroom had 3 stalls, one with a clogged toilet and two with no toilet paper. The water at the sinks works, but there is no soap. There are two play structures one for the younger set and a larger one for older children. THere are plenty of single seating benches near both play structures for parents to sit and watch their kids. I saw a basketball hoop where you could play half court, and there was plenty of open grassy area suitable for a variety of sports. This is not a bad little park, and is probably a lifesaver if you live in the dale and have small children.

The sides of the park are lined with Astroturf which was nice because falling a couple times I landed in this instead of the cement haha. There was some sketchy people sitting in their cars the whole time and no joke a homeless dude at the bottom of the bowl when I got there. North Beardsley Park is located on the South side of Airport Drive just North of Olive Drive…read more First, and most important considering the hot summer weather here in Bakersfield, THEY HAVE A POOL! The pool is open from June 6- August 5 and the cost to use it is $1, though you can buy season passes for $50 or a 30 day pass for $30. There are lessons offered for an additional fee, call 392-2034 for more info. The pool is open to the public from 2:00-4:30 M-F. From 9:00 am-12:30 pm the pool is only open for private lessons and from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm for group lessons. There are also two lighted softball diamonds for day or night games, a large grassy field with plenty of shade, and even separate play structures for children young and old to play on over beds of bark to cushion falls. There is a large covered picnic area with tables and barbecue grills for summertime get togethers. The female restrooms were clean and well stocked with toilet paper and the people using the park seemed to be mostly families with young children.

I don't mind coming here in the morning or afternoon. I just don't like coming at night. The park is way too dark. They have light, but they are way to dim. They need to change the light bulbs or clean them. It hardly lights up the park. When you walk on the sidewalk it is almost pitch black. I love walking at night, but I honestly hate that the park is so dark. Also, I don't look to judge a book by it's cover but it's very hard not to with certain people. I have come a few times and I see the same "homeless" people at the same spot. I feel so uncomfortable going to certain parts of the park because they keep staring at you. Not sure if they just stare or really want to make you feel uncomfortable. I also see a lot of certain adults smoking and acting crazy at the benches. I try to avoid them as well. Others are digging threw the trash and some are just walking around looking crazy. I'm sorry if I seem harsh, but I'm just trying to be honest. My husband has told me that a lot of them come to do drugs. I don't know, but like I said they do look weird. Now, for the positive. I love that I saw a water/spray section. The water wasn't on, but I think that during the summer they turn them on. I wanted to let my son play there but there are two people always sitting near that section. If I let my son play there I think he will go and bug them so I rather not have him play there. Right now, the play area is closed. Bummer. Great news though. It is closed because they are remodeling it! Yay! Now this I do love. It started to look so nice. They put a huge slide that I know kids will love. They are putting so much playground equipment and it is making the park look much better. They put up a sign that states they play area will open in mid October.

This park is soooo old it has some really cool light poles with designs. the side I was taking…read morepictures on was clean the tables were clean and for it being in the hood.....not very many bums anymore. the pool is now a spray park....they changed all the toys the baseball diamond is still there and lots of people use it often. it has become a family park that kids enjoy again.
