The sides of the park are lined with Astroturf which was nice because falling a couple times I landed in this instead of the cement haha. There was some sketchy people sitting in their cars the whole time and no joke a homeless dude at the bottom of the bowl when I got there. Besides that one of the best fun parks I've skated in a long time! 10 out of 10

The pool is open from June 6- August 5 and the cost to use it is $1, though you can buy season passes for $50 or a 30 day pass for $30. There are lessons offered for an additional fee, call 392-2034 for more info. The pool is open to the public from 2:00-4:30 M-F. From 9:00 am-12:30 pm the pool is only open for private lessons and from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm for group lessons. There are also two lighted softball diamonds for day or night games, a large grassy field with plenty of shade, and even separate play structures for children young and old to play on over beds of bark to cushion falls. There is a large covered picnic area with tables and barbecue grills for summertime get togethers. The female restrooms were clean and well stocked with toilet paper and the people using the park seemed to be mostly families with young children.

I'm from Delano and I grew up going to this park. Honestly, the only reason why I visit these days…read moreis only for the Philippine Weekend festivities which always takes place the last weekend of July, there's so much memories here and I love watching the kids perform. It reminds me of a time when I was younger and also performed these cultural dances. Although this place brings so much memories of my childhood, Cecil Park is still the same... restrooms are never ever cleaned and I say this because for as long as I can remember, I really don't think the city pushes for that. This is probably the most active park in Delano; however, I don't feel it's up kept as much as it should be. The lawn gets mowed and the trees get trimmed, but everyone that has kids knows that the toilets are never cleaned (since these kids are always having to use the restrooms). This park is located across the street from my HS (Delano High School) and has two parts to it. One side has a stage where the festivities are held at and the other side has a good size skate park and a kiddie pool. I honestly can't remember when Delano has put water in that kiddie pool, all I can remember is getting in this pool when I was in Kindergarten for a field trip. The skate park is definitely a plus, it keeps the kids busy and keeps them from doing things they shouldn't be doing. There's a basketball court, a playground for kids and plenty of room for other activities. Both parks are pretty big in size and has room to fit multiple parties, multiple gatherings, and other functions. There's plenty of shade and plenty of places to picnic at and there's several benches to rest at as well.

Beach Park, the arm pit of Bakersfield?…read more I have never seen or hard earned tax dollars doing so little work. I went to see the Richard & Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Plaza. I am sad to say it is non-existent. The plaza has been destroyed. Whether by vandals or the city, I do not know, but don't go, it's not there. It is only a skeleton. Then I began walking around the park taking photos. As you will see, the park is a mess. It is impossible to walk without nearly breaking your ankle in the squirrel holes that litter the park. I probably saw 1000 squirrels in the 15 minutes I took pictures. The squirrels not only pose a physical problem with all the holes, but also a disease risk. The restrooms are filthy and the roof is partially burnt and falling apart. I was afraid to go inside it was so nasty. There was trash strewn across the park and it looked like it had been there for some time. The playground equipment was in not much better shape. Where are the Parks and Recreation personnel working if not in the parks. Where is our tax dollars going if not to fix our parks. Isn't Bakersfield talking about building more parks. Shouldn't they fix the existing ones first. I am not putting any captions on the photos. I will let them speak for themselves.

I've come here a few times since it opened and each time I leave quicker than the time before. The…read moredesign of this park follows a common trend seen in a lot of post 2010 california skatepark; it's very pretty to look at and has a big "wow" factor but it's layout just isn't fun for the average skater. The street plaza has your typical linear flow but it really only works in the downhill direction. If you want to hit anything coming back the other way, you've gotta push like hell to have any speed. There's no basic flatbars or ledges under a foot tall where a new skater could learn new tricks. I just can't wrap my head around skatepark designers that don't bother to put in a small ledge and rail....these features would get used 20x more than any other feature in this park. Terrible oversight but it's what you see all over the place. The best park of the park is the middle bowl. It's actually designed to flow pretty well. The addition of the mini ramp in the shallow end is a bummer as always for anyone who actually likes to draw lines through the whole bowl. Unless it's empty you'll probably have someone doing rock to fakies in the mini so you can forget about carrying speed through the shallow end. The oververt wave is, again, pretty to look at and great for a newpaper covershot but purely a waste of resources. The big capsule bowl is BIG, really big. Again, great for pro demos or kids who are trying to qualify for the 2024 olympics but pretty much unskatable for 95% of people who use this park. It has been empty the whole time I've been here every time. The other tiny bowl in the back is just deadly. I know they were going for more of a backyard pool feel with this one but it just isn't fun. This is where they should've put a mini ramp/bowl for new skaters to learn on. My plea to all skatepark designers is this: do an actual study of who is going to come here from your local community, evalute the full range of skill levels and what types of skaters they are, then build the park for THEM! Don't build it to look good in an a Tribune article! Don't build it as an Olympic training facility! Build it to be enjoyed by the skaters in your community! Simple, right?

Once the disco lights started and the pace picked up, the environment felt much less safe. Some skaters were going very fast and weaving around children who were clearly beginners. It became stressful rather than enjoyable, especially for younger or inexperienced skaters. It might be helpful to offer separate skate times, one for beginners and intermediate skaters and another for more proficient or advanced skaters- to make the experience safer and more enjoyable for everyone. Overall, it has a lot of potential and could be a fantastic family-friendly spot with a few adjustments to skating flow and safety.

This place deserves some love from the community, people don't get rich off these kinds of businesses it's usually a passion for someone and a gem for the community, I love supporting a business like this! That being said the prices are fair, $10 each skater and $5 if you need skate rental! I took my 5 year old for his first ever time skating and they have a skate mate that helps people that are just learning to balance with out killing themselves! The rink was painted in neon colors that glow and a disco ball in the middle! Cool vibe and great skating music! They also have a snack bar and an arcade! Very fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
