Zumwalt Park, on the South side of E. Tulare Ave between M St. and N St, was very quiet on a Sunday…read moreafternoon in February just past noon. There was one older man sitting on a bench enjoying the moderate weather, and another young man in his twenties rode his bike through the park, stopping at a fountain to refresh himself before riding on. There is plenty of grass beneath shady trees, though this time of year it is not at its greenest. There are cement walkways through the park which benches spaced along them at intervals for relaxing and enjoying the view. There are picnic tables scattered here and there around the glass, but no BBQ grills so you'll have to bring your own if you're planning a picnic. There is an octagonal pavilion on the Southern edge of the park that looks like the perfect place for summer concerts. Upon checking the website for the Tulare Parks and Recreation Department, it appears that they do hold a number of concerts in the park there each summer and even have family movie nights during which they project movies onto a 12' x 12' screen. It sounds like good wholesome fun! There are public restrooms which are very clean and well stocked with toilet paper and soap, but the paper towel machine was empty. There is a sign on the doors stating that due to vandalism the doors to the restrooms are only unlocked between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm daily. I saw no evidence of vandalism there, so maybe that's solved their problems. There is no play equipment for children, but Zumwalt is a very restful spot for adults to hang out and enjoy our California weather and it becomes a lot more active in the summer with planned activities. It has a huge field with a paved…read morewalkway around it for runners, bikers, roller skaters :) There are two play areas targeted for different age groups. It's even good for 1 year olds! The equipment is new and fun! There are climb on figures like bears and turtles. There's bark and foam/rubber ground, but no sand. While my kids are sand ADDICTS, they don't mind not having sand at this park because it's so fun. The playground is significantly shaded by overhead shades as well as trees. It's very well maintained. There's a drinking fountain, but no bathrooms. Very well lit at night. It has tables and benches with overhead awning that can be reserved for parties. There's half a basketball court. There's really something for everyone. Bring your dogs, bring the family, and have fun!

I have never experienced anything this - you have to really appreciate the amount of work, design and detail by Baldassare Forestiere - truly a feat! Highly recommend if you appreciate gardening, architecture, art, engineering etc. They also did a great job of reminding me of my appointment and following up afterwards. The gardens were built in an unexpected park of Fresno and these is a lot of history behind them. Parking was somewhat difficult but once you enter, the staff were very kind, organized, and positive. Our tour guide Raul was super sweet and provided a lot of history regarding the gardens and the family who built them. Raul had my 3 young boys engaged and interested. He answered all my questions and was so open to conversation. You could tell Raul was proud to be there telling all of us how the Gardens came to be. The Gardens are very interesting. I've never seen anything quite like these. The smell of all the citrus trees combine with the natural cooling underground was amazing and made the tour comfortable. If you have any time i do recommend visiting these secret gardens.

Krista was fantastic at making us feel confident in our abilities. She showed interest in each of us and answered every question we had. This was my 3rd time visiting Sequoia & Kings Canyon and I learned things I never knew! She is exceptionally knowledgeable about Sequoia & Kings Canyon. This was the highlight of our trip! We will be back for a spring/summer tour before too long!

The water access is lacking... There is one half broken drinking fountain which made it difficult to fill my dogs bowl. No faucet to even rinse off your hands. Maybe that's why there's dog poop everywhere. It is a little gross if you can't even rinse your hands after picking up after your dog. There are some nice trees and the grass is in pretty good shape. There were no other dogs both times we went once mid day and once early in the morning before work, so I can't comment on the vibe. If you bright your own water, hand sanitizer and your dog just wants some room to run and play without a lot of other dogs around I could see it being alright.
