I'm a business owner and I would want to know if one of my staff at my establishment was rude to a customer. When my boyfriend and I arrived we were greeted by a young man who was annoyed the minute we took our first step inside. He literally threw the rewards card across the counter after taking our order and said "we don't usually do this for Affogatos but whatever, it's the end of the day and I'm so f%#^*+% over it" he should not be representing anyone's business. read more

The coffee is great, as are the acai bowls. I appreciate the healthy and organic options they have on their menu -- great for breakfast or an early lunch! So many coffee options and almond/ soy milk is not extra. However, a BIG turn-off for me is how long it takes when they're busy (on the weekends, when I usually go). The kids who work there seem way in over their head and anxious with how many orders they have to take care of. They aren't really good at balancing their time well or multi-tasking, and I've observed on more than one occasion poor communication amongst each other. They said 15-20 minutes for 2 acai bowls and it took them 40. This is not the place to go if you're in a hurry, but the food is amazing if you have time to chill! read more

FINALLY a great cup of coffee in Pacifica! Pacifica (especially Linda Mar) has been desperate for a good corner coffee shop for so long.. this place helps add a little character to our town (and it's less than a mile from the beach). The pour over coffee is terrific (I am completely addicted), and I've also had great mochas and lattes, bagel with herb cream cheese (yum) and croissants - I can't wait until they introduce their full menu, which is due any day. Clearly the owners have gone to a lot of trouble to find really good coffee and pastries, and from what I understand, it's mostly (if not all) organic too. I also appreciate the 10 cent discount if I bring my own re-usuable cup - thanks for helping reduce waste in Pacifica! The ambience is great - sunny, open, free wifi. The staff are really friendly. I don't see why anyone would want to go to Starbucks with annoying parking, huge lines, and mediocre coffee, now that this cafe is here. I'd much prefer to give my money to support this small, local, family-run business. read more

I'm so happy I finally came here! A beautiful space, not crowded, with a diverse menu and quality coffee. Everyone working there was super friendly, and my salad came out like a minute after I ordered it. I also got an almond milk latte. Neither was an exceptional culinary experience, but they were both yummy and that's fine. Actually, on that note, I think self-important "foodies" who are just passing through the area should pause before giving this place a crappy review because, for example, your sandwich was slightly over-toasted. Pacifica needs more places exactly like this, and they do their job well overall. Stoked to have a lovely little place to do work when I need to get out of the house. read more

Coffee is great. Food is delicious. Service is on point. Being new to Pacifica I was attentive to the vibe from the cafe. I felt like a welcomed outsider at first. But I didn't mind that because good things need to be shared and protected. Now I've lived in Pacifica for over a month and come here weekly if not more. And I'm glad to be somewhere where the folks from Pacifica call a piece of home--it's starting to feel that way to me too. Friendly, unpretentious cafe, less than a mile from Linda Mar Beach. Organic products, coffee brewed manually. I had the Sophia (dark, light chocolate flavor). Owners are incredibly friendly and warm. While I was asking owner if they had WiFi (it will be set up in a couple of weeks), I mentioned that I will be taking the GMAT. Later, when his wife walked in, he subtly encouraged her to talk to me about it since she had taken it before. She gave me tips about the test. Aside from their delicious pour over coffee and potentially the best bowl of soup I have ever had (it was a daily special a few months ago that I still can't get my mind off) this place has a great, chill, local vibe and an excellent staff that goes above and beyond (shout out to the Manager, Marci). I love the Beach Monkey and am a regular customer. They make great pour over coffees and lattes, and have a surprisingly nice interior to sit and enjoy the drinks & snacks​. If weather is good, bring your dog along and sit outside. I recently discovered they have smoothies (a limited but nice selection) and they are delicious and I've become a bit obsessed. The food options are great (I love the breakfast sandwich & chicken bahn mi, and those ridiculously yummy blueberry custards). Great for grabbing a morning/midday coffee, for couples and folks with kids. Somethings to note: Parking is somewhat limited, and since this is primarily a coffee house, the kitchen is small (so if they are very busy, the wait can be a little on the longer side). But don't let that deter you: Park on side streets and walk for a minute or call ahead to order so you can run in quickly (I do this alot when in a rush). It's really great to have a place like this locally in Pacifica. If you live in Pacifica, there isn't any reason not to go here and if you're visiting for a day at the beach or San Pedro Park, I highly recommend stopping in for something delicious. read more

Went there today. Ordered the Beach monkey bowl. Waiting 20 mins and they had made the wrong bowl. Waiting another 10 mins to finally get my bowl. I had been there once before and the wait was long. Nice, classy little coffee shop, in a small shopping center that I always drove by but never entered (thanks Yelp!). They do great pour overs and espresso drinks, and also have some snacks, pastries and sandwiches. I had the Banh Mi, which was simple but delicious. One big plus is the local art and photography on the walls, it's nice to have a local shop that supports the community. The staff has been really nice every time I've come, and they bring the coffee/food to your table after you order at the counter. The only tough spot for me is that it closes at 2 PM... I wish they were open longer. I talked to the owner and they said they're planning on expanding their hours. If you're looking for a good morning coffee and a place to read or work (free wi-fi), I'd this is the best coffee shop near the Linda Mar area. read more

Alright! Now we are really getting somewhere! I love to shop locally, and that includes coffee, but all the usual places seem to start out good & then decline rapidly. I believe it's usually because I order lattes etc since I am not ever thrilled with the brewed coffee served. That said, I love the pourover! I like to buy Italian roast at home when I don't use the Nespresso) and it was great to taste really good coffee here, and freshly brewed just for me! I don't see how this could go downhill, unless they start cutting hours/days that they are open (typical of Pacifica businesses) A plus is that it's on the way to the dogpark! read more

Finally some good coffee..right by my house and no waiting in line for starbucks. I came here the other day around 8am. Asked for a medium coffee, different drips were available. I chose one and they dripped in right in front of me. They filled it to the top and i was hoping more room for cream but it didn't need any!! Coffee was delicious and there was no nasty after taste you get in your mouth from starbucks or peets. So glad this place opened and hope they stay around! read more

Cute little place. Not packed and focuses a lot on organic healthy foods. Their smoothie & Acai bowls are to die for. (smoothie topped with crunchy oatmeal and healthy fruits). Only downer is that they don't have a lot of selections. They no longer have a lot of the food pics posted in yelp. I am a coffee snob. It is a hard life with the abundance of Starbucks and mediocre coffee around. If I find myself at a Starbucks- I order tea. Sometimes I wished I did not know better. Life would be easier. Nah. Good coffee is as reason to wake-up. Good coffee is such an absolute pleasure. And now there is outstanding coffee in Pacifica. I have only been in once, but they know what they are doing. Looking forward to coming in for more pour overs. Whoever make acai bowls on Thursdays makes it the best! I always add peanut butter to my acai and it really makes a difference in the taste of the acai bowls. Always get beach monkey with added peanut butter and almonds on top. Coffee: must try all the pour overs! read more

I love love love this place!!!!! I come here every morning yes every morning for my cafe con leche or as the coffee world says Cafe au lait!!! My husband now goes there too every morning instead of going to our previous fav place in the city. As a new place of course you will have kinks and everybody is a critic. Just as in life we can always find the negative if we look for it but as for me I rather look at the positive :) The coffee is amazing. I was hooked on the Nicaragua Blend but changed it to the Pantomime ( Sp?) . I feel like I just walked in to Cheers bar ( not the one in Pacifica) where everyone knows your name and your drink. Its such a warm and inviting place. The owners are wonderful so are the baristas. I only have one negative thing to say and that is it is not across the street from my house :) I know this place will be around for aloooonnngggg time :) read more

Love Beach Monkey Cafe! Great place to stroll my toddler down on lazy weekend mornings. Their coffee is so good, and plenty of food options for my son. The staff is always friendly, the one girl that knows us is always so sweet. They recently put a little basket of toys, which is one less thing to remember. I just love this place. We've gone in for lunch too, and I have to say its pretty darn good! Not too many menu selections, but everything on it is good. We heard they were doing dinner now too, so we went last night. Great service! Best acai bowls! Good salads and smoothies. Clean, Modern, warm welcoming atmosphere. Expect to pay a little more than other places but you can taste fresh wholesome ingredients most of them organic. Definitely worth it. Awesome place; something Pacifica really needed. They food and drinks are awesome. I love their hot chocolate and acai bowls. I will say however that service can get really slow and they seem a bit confused. I ordered an acai bowl on a Sunday morning, waited. After 25 minutes of nothing and everyone else getting their orders I could clearly see there was an issue. The lady noticed and came over and asked what I had ordered. She realized the order hadn't sent to the kitchen or something and felt really bad. She gave me the bowl for free! I thought it was very professional of them and greatly appreciate the good customer service. The mistake didn't turn me off. I'll definitely be back! Keep up the good stuff! read more

This is such a cute cafe that's tucked away in a little corner in Linda Mar that offers some pretty tasty pour-over coffee and fresh sandwiches! The service is kinda on the slower end (hence the -1 start) but everyone there is rest nice and the drinks are consistent and really good! Additionally they have some toys and books for the little in case you have your little gal or dude in tow. read more

Not sure where they got the name Beach Monkey since it's almost a mile from the beach, but it's quite pleasant. It's a clean cozy place. The mocha was CRAZY STRONG!... and quite good. One thing I would change would be to better ventilate the kitchen so that the smells don't overwhelm the place. read more

I hope this place makes it as a dinner location, but the selection is limited - calling the selection spare is generous. The food is good, but there were only 3 entree selections. And I'm pretty sure my meal was a microwave reheat. The waitstaff still needs training. The marriage between cafe and dinner restaurant isn't working. Perhaps they need to study pop-up restaurants. Beach Monkey has grown into our absolute favorite, best everyday restaurant in Pacifica. We literally eat there three times a week and never get sick of the food. We'll go two nights for dinner and then do a brunch on the weekends. For us it feels like eating a home-cooked meal. The food is incredible and they are always improving the recipes. We've never gotten anything that we didn't like. We have our regular favorites, but sometimes they have special holiday price fixe brunch menus and those are amazing too. We came here for lunch today, and after hearing about their coffee, I had to have one. They use a small batch roaster in Washington (Seattle?) that roasts each batch to order and ships it out the next day. I love a rich, dark roast and the selections did not disappoint. For lunch, I chose the tuna sandwich served with kettle chips. Yum. The bread was great- some sort of bun, but not too bready. Lightly toasted and the cheese was perfectly melted. Warning: The tuna salad has capers in it, so if you're not a fan you should go with something else. Limited menu selection, but quality execution. Very nice! read more

Sumatra pour-over coffee was incredible! Well-balanced, rich and smooth with a chocolate-y aftertaste. Not at all acidic, oily or cloying like the chains. Great decor with rich colors and clean lines. Quiet and welcoming, at least at around 2 on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We had the cuban sandwich. Not much to look at, but the taste was artful, with house made basil sauce and pickles. Very interesting and delicious. Love the Stewart's diet root beer and Kettle chips, which perfectly complemented the sandwich. We'll be back! read more

Today, I came here for the first time, and it won't be the last. Found this cute and quaint place thru Yelp. I had the Chicken Banh mi sandwich, it was delicious! The combination of all the ingredients with the Thai paste was perfect. :) It's served with either chips or a side salad. I enjoyed my lunch so much, I decided to order the Sweeney Ridge sandwich with a side salad to go. I also, treated myself to their brewed coffee which was yummy. I wish I lived in Pacifica, so I could come here more frequently. The people who work there, (Joanna and Julian whom I met today), are friendly, and are eager to make sure you are happy with your meal. Julian, is the chef. He took the time to give me all the info. on his dishes, and told me they are all natural and organic. I could tell they have pride in their dishes served, and of their establishment. The atmosphere is relaxed, clean, and nicely decorated. On the plus side, they also have outside seating. If you are looking for a treat for your palette and tummy, definitely visit this restaurant. Nice selection and variety of coffees. The pour over is very hip, yes, but also tasty. The wifi is strong and the place is comfy enough to hang out while getting some work done (and avoiding the worst of the commute traffic in the morning after school drop-off!)
