We'll go out of our way for it, even drive past other options, because nothing else really compares when you're in the mood for it. The sandwiches are just done right. Fresh bread, quality ingredients, and they don't cut corners. Everything is stacked the way it should be and you can actually taste the difference. It's not just another sandwich spot. The vibe is laid back and easy going, and it's a place you actually want to sit and enjoy your food. What really stood out this time was the service. She was so nice and went above and beyond. Our Zoom call ran longer than expected and she stayed open for us, which you just don't see anymore. That meant a lot and didn't go unnoticed. This location holds up just like the others. I was in town for my son's soccer match @ the Davis Legacy fields on a cold and foggy Sunday morning. I decided to grab a breakfast sandwich during their warmups but there wasn't anything close (no, Starbucks is not an option). I'd been to Beach Hut for sandwiches on a nice spring day a year or so ago, so I thought I'd give it a try. There are no breakfast sandwiches but plenty of hot sandwich options. I went with the Malibu. It was creamy goodness with perfect saltiness from the pastrami. It didn't just hit the spot, it made me grateful that I got this instead of a the breakfast sandwich I was craving. Delicious! There were two people working, they seemed older HS or college age. Both were sweet, polite & professional. We stopped by Beach Hut Deli in Davis before our road trip and it was perfect! We got the Hobbie sandwich and another one (can't remember the name, but it was just as good) -- both were absolutely delicious and super fresh. Customer service was great, I was quickly greeted and acknowledged when I entered the door. Right by the register they have several laminated menus to grab and make your choice. I ordered a meat sandwich and was overloaded with more spinach than anything else including the meat in the sandwich. Beware of this bad business practice. It was heavy when I carried the bag, but when I opened it up, the spinach popped out everywhere. And I didn't order "extra" spinach either. Not good. read more

Takeout Review: I explore takeout options in davis and wanted to try this place because I always drive by it and it looked really cool from the outside. I ordered the "Malibu" sandwich as recommended on Grubhub and opted to pay for the small size ($11), and ordered it with Jalapeños. Keep in mind the full size is ($22). Unfortunately, for the money spent the size of the sandwich was pretty small and the jalapeños I had asked for was put to the side. I found it unusual because when there is an additional option to add stuff during ordering, you would think it usually means it would already be included in the sandwich so I found it strange they gave it to me on the side. To add on, for $11 you'd expect a fulfilling sandwich but it ended up leaving me still quite hungry due to its small size. The sandwich was a 6/10; not too great but not too bad. For a takeout experience or a bang for your buck meal, this is not the place that I would not recommend to anyone. My experience may have changed if sitting inside but this is strictly regarding my pickup/takeout experience. read more

Beach Hut Deli in Davis is a real find. By far the best sandwiches we've had in our university city. The meat to roll ratio is perfect. The sandwiches (all of ours on French Rolls) are generous, fresh, quality through-and-through. Excellent value for the money. The environment is clean and thoughtfully decorated in a Tiki Bar motif. My Family came to Beach Hut in Davis after our son's soccer game to have something to eat and to cool off from the 102 heat outside. Unfortunately when we arrived, the air conditioning was lagging. We asked the front about it and they said it wasn't working the best due to the toaster oven?! The place was pretty dead (no other customers but 1) and we witnessed another soccer family leave due to the heat (A loss of business for Beach Hut) We decided to stay but unfortunately the service was mediocre. The staff was nice but seem to be unqualified and easily confused. My husband got a warm glass to go with his cold beer and he wasn't happy about it. It's disappointing for how expensive Beach Hut has become and the great service they have provided in the past. I hope they turn it around as we've always loved this place...but based on this experience I don't see us coming back to this location nor recommending it to friends . read more

Been a fan of beach hut since before they came to Davis. I definitely miss them downtown as they used to be right below my office. Their new location is a bit far for me to go daily, but well worth the drive or when I'm making a target run. My go to is the north shore, no ham, sub pastrami, no onions. We usually get a L or XL and split with my wife or sons. It's plenty filling. Marley nachos are bomb. Give them a try. Staff is friendly and food comes out pretty fast. Great sandwich shop option. Go in the spring/summer/fall and enjoy the little patio with classic outdoor games like corn hole to pass the time. read more

I love this place! I stop here about once a month to get a Surfin' Bird sandwich. It's too large to eat alone, which makes it perfect to share with my lady. The atmosphere is laid back with beach-style reggae music that we enjoy on the back patio while eating. The staff is always friendly and it's a pretty quick on and off the freeway. This location takes way too long to make anything on the menu. They burnt the bread on our sandwiches and instead of making new bread they scraped some of the burnt parts off. Hard to scrape it all off when the whole roll is burnt. They knew it shouldn't have been served but did so anyway. They also didnt put cheese on the burnt sandwich. No way should you pay $23 for a sandwich and the person making your sandwich not have the courtesy to fix their mistake or take pride in not sending out something that isn't up to par. Second and the last time I will spend my money or waste my time at this establishment. My wife said this was the worst sandwich she's ever had from BeachHut. Sad read more

Walked in at 5pm on a Sunday, and although the hours of operation are 11a-6pm on the sign in the window, and 11a-5:30pm on Google and yelp, they told me they were closed already. Even though the doors were still open? If business hours change, they should be updated accordingly. It's very confusing for existing and potential customers. Once again, Beach Hut was fresh and delicious!!! I appreciate that they always get my order correct, no matter the location. Although, I've never ordered my food to go, so I can only speak for in house service. The place was clean, and the young ladies provided extraordinary customer service. Sitting there and eating our delicious sandwiches, we observed how they were constantly moving. One made sandwiches, another cleaned, and the other took orders. Nevertheless, they were all lovely, hardworking ladies. The outdoor seating is charming and inviting. However, it was far too hot to enjoy the outdoors. Although, we plan to come back and support this location given its outstanding freshness, cleanliness, awesome customer service, and charming patio. For the record, we got the Surfin Bird on a French roll and the North Shore on a French roll because they're so soft and delicious. For anyone who's never been to a Beach Hut Deli, know that most of their sandwiches come with cream cheese as a default for the cheese selection. However, you can substitute it for one of their many cheese options. Surprisingly, it was incredibly delicious, and I have gotten it many times since. (I'm a long term Bech Hit Deli customer.) Today we tried to come in. The sign outside clearly says there are open. It's lit over the door you can see in my pic. They are closed at 6pm tho. Lesson learned...stopped by for a sandwich. My husband ordered a pastrami on wheat toast with onions & mustard (no rye available). It was $13 with no side. Surprisingly small sandwich but tasted fine. I had their tuna, no cheese with all the fixings and extra pickles on whole wheat. Mine arrived on a huge white sub rather than wheat and no extra pickles. I was surprised to find that the tuna itself was chalk dry, like they just upturned a can of drained tuna on a roll. So at the end, we paid $43 for two sandwiches, a bag of chips and a single beer. The restaurant is simple and clean. Service at the counter was efficient but they didn't get my order right. Items in my sandwich missing. It had no mayo or mustard or peppers. And barely any avocado white is one of the main ingredients.

The is always to be expected , good & big portion , but a lot of sauce and soggy Sandwich bread. I had to eat the sandwich like two flat breads with toppings , was still good but not a sandwich at that point. The cashier was not the most personable but did his job . Wasn't super busy but was a full sandwich shop as it was hot outside and cool inside the shop . I will be back next time I'm in town . read more
