Blasting reggae music at 10 am when the beach is otherwise quiet is not going to make people want to eat your food.

    Richard’s Diner - Pumpkin pancakes

Brisket (6.5/10): The brisket was actually decent. It had a nice texture and taste was ok. Hash Browns (3/10): The hash browns were the greasiest I've had. They were indeed crispy, but I felt disgusting afterwards. Also too salty. Toast (6/10): Toast was fine, but also too much butter. Meal was extremely greasy, buttery, and salty. Service was good, though. Prices were also reasonable.

Nice little diner!…read more The restaurant is very quaint with plenty of seating for big and small groups. We were quickly seated at a nice big booth and were given big menus with all kinds of breakfast options. They also had daily specials on a separate menu. We were quickly served nice hot coffee both caffeinated and decaf. My parents both ordered their 2x2 breakfast combo which is two pancakes with two eggs and a side of either bacon or sausages. I went with their pumpkin pancakes daily special which came with eggs and ordered bacon on the side. My boyfriend got their eggs Benedict. The food came out nice and hot and the pancakes were very fluffy and yummy! My pumpkin pancakes were topped off with strawberries and condensed milk! Yum! They had the perfect amount of pumpkin flavor and we're nice and fluffy! Everything was cooked perfectly! The scrambled eggs were nice and flavorful and the bacon was very crispy. We got plenty of coffee refills and everyone finished all their food. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the service was great!

It came with pork belly and cauliflower purée with a chimichurri. It was cooked really well but the scallops were a little gritty (I don't know why!). The drink was strong but tasted great! Our waitress was super attentive and the food came out quickly. And of course, who doesn't love the view? Sadly when I went, it was cloudy! But that's okay because then that meant there was no wait (usually the wait is so long). And it was cool, not too hot. Honestly ideal! I always come back, but I do wish the menu was a bit more expansive.

We first went up to the 21+ bar area on the top deck where they were playing live music. It was too crowded and loud for me, so we went down to the bar downstairs. Our bartender was nice and got us our drinks right away. I got the SOBER STRAWBERRY drink which was fine just a bit too tart for me. After only around 20 or so minutes we got a text that our table was ready so we went over to grab it. When we sat down, service unfortunately took a turn and it took forever to get our orders in, get our food, etc. We ordered a few items to share: -CLAM CHOWDER: Chowder flavor was good and a nice portion. -BEET SALAD: The beets were nice and tasty and went well with the greens and dressing. -MUSSELS: Flavor was fine. There were some that weren't cooked as well, also a lot of sand in some of the mussels as well. They did also have a few toasted bread slices to dip into the broth which is always a nice touch. All in all, an ok spot for a bite to eat but wish service could have been stronger.

I enjoyed the standard plate that included a homemade biscuit the size of my head. Yes, I finished it. I mean, it was a homemade biscuit for Pete's sake! Iasked for soft poaced eggs and I got them. Lovely table service, too. Now, off to rehearsal for a film!

Our only real option was two seats at the bar. We had quick and attentive service from the bartender. Interesting offerings for cocktails, and we enjoyed our drinks. The food I think can be best described as American/Thai/Asian. Food came pretty fast, and we started with crab rangoon, and possibly the largest we have ever been served. Fried up crisp, not greasy and generously filled with cream cheese and real crab. Next up, we tried the Waygu burger which was quite good, nice toppings. My only complaint here was we wished the fries were fresh out of the fryer. I'm really fussy about fries and like them hot, crispy and fresh. Sadly, these were not. I had my eye on the Choco Taco for dessert, and this was a sophisticated version of the classic frozen treat you may have enjoyed from the ice cream truck as a kid. Home made with great ingredients, it was a perfect finish to a very nice meal. I would definitely give these guys a try when in Newburyport.
