My new favorite place to get a haircut. I have curly hair, lately it's been acting kind of meh. I went to Brandie at Be Kekoa and she is amazing. She cuts each curl separately! Growing up with insanely thick and curly hair, salon appointments have always been less then thrilling for the following reasons: -charged extra for having lots of hair -complaints my hair was too thick (lol) -improper techniques used to cut/style my hair -non existent education on care of curly hair Since seeing Brandie and Francis, I am thrilled to say the mentioned items above are no longer an issue! *yay* Brandie is the curly hair queen and Francis was taught by the best! This is a great place to go if you have curly hair. Definitely come with a clear picture or description of what you want though. This last time I went in asking for my hair to be shaped up. I loved my length but there were some long pieces sticking out. After my styling I thought I didn't like it because someone else styled it. I went to my car and tugged at one of my curls only to realize five inches had been cut off. I just sat and cried. I wish I'd gone in with a photo like the last time when I loved my outcome. It took me a long time to get that length and I'm still in shock at how much was cut off. read more

I've been to this salon on three separate occasions and each time I left disappointed, but figured it was worth giving them another chance since they are one of the only curly centered salons in the area. This third time will be my last. The first two times I asked for a cut only. After my first cut I noticed my hair was uneven and significantly longer on one side. The second cut I received went better, but there was way too much product used when Brandie styled my hair and my roots were flat and the rest of my hair poofy. The way Brandie does a curly cut seems a little off. Literally just takes small sections of your hair and chops it...no special cutting techniques have ever been used. I went in almost two weeks ago for another cut and highlights. When Brandie asked what kind of highlights I wanted I told her caramel highlights. She assumed I wanted partial highlights and when I corrected her and asked for full because I wanted them well blended throughout my hair, she gave me a look like she didn't understand what I was asking for and quite honestly didn't want to be bothered, but she made an exception and "hand painted" highlights on the bottom portion of my hair because she typically only does highlights on the top while leaving the bottom your natural color. What I received is not at all what I had envisioned (pictures included). The "highlights" on top were way too heavy, bright compared to the rest of my hair and the highlights on the bottom and spotty. I went to another salon in Temecula over the weekend to get my color corrected and the stylists were shocked that I asked for highlights and ended up with the results I did. I truly believe the practices at Be Kekoa in terms of cutting, styling and coloring are outdated and they don't bother to keep up with current times. Just look on IG at other salons/stylists such as Desertcurlsstudio, Urbanbloomcurls, Capella Salon, etc. and you will see a difference. Also, I spent around $437 (including tip, as I do believe in tipping well) and feel as if I've been cheated out of my hard earned money and after working on the health of my hair for years, I'm back to square one again since I do believe they let the bleach sit on my hair for too long. The attached pictures are before and after getting my color fixed. Also, it is worth mentioning that Brandie does not carry herself professionally. While I was in her chair she talked badly about a client that was no longer allowed back in her salon. She also mentioned that recently she had to redo the toner for one of her clients three separate times and by the third time she was just over it and didn't want to be bothered. That should have been a red flag for me and a main reason why I didn't go back to get it fixed. Lastly, every time I would go in to the salon for a service they would take before and after pictures, but never once shared those pictures to social media, which kind of indicates to me that they also recognized the results weren't very good. I absolutely adore this hair salon. I went for the first time about 6 months ago and received an amazing cut by Brandie. I came back again last week for another cut and my hair has never been healthier. My second, 3rd and 4th day curls look flawless thanks to how Brandie cut my hair. Hands down, the BEST curly hair specialist ever is Brandie. A couple of months ago, I received a really bad haircut to the point of crying. My curls were damaged and lost. I needed help reviving my hair. As I did some research, I read great things about Brandie, so I received my first curly hair cut in June. Today was my 4th visit with Brandie at BeKekoa and I think it's time to write a review. I was with my last hair stylist for about 10 years until she told me she was moving out of state. I was devastated. It was time to search out a new salon. I tried a couple that weren't the right fit for me, then I stumbled across a curly hair salon. So far I am happy and love the results. This was my first time having a dry curly haircut and I was a little nervous at first but Brandie put those fears to rest by producing excellent results. I went to this salon for a hydrating steam treatment. I'm EXTREMELY picky with my hair and trust very few stylist with my curls. Brandie and her team are patient and careful with their approach. I'm not usually excited to wash my hair, but today I was because I was trying @bekekoa recommended products for the first time. I washed with "Be Clean Cleansing Conditioner," conditioned with "Be Lola Handcrafted Deep Conditioner" for 20 minutes and washed all but 20% out. Next, while my hair was still wet I used "Be Hydrated Leave-in Conditioner," followed by "Be Curl-lightiful Curl Defining Custard." I used a t-shirt to gently scrunch dry, and then I let my curls air dry. I am really surprised and happy with the results! My hair feels so light and soft, and my curls are curlier than yesterday! What a difference it made to use the right products for my hair type with guidance from Brandie at Be Kekoa Hair Studio! When I first moved to Temecula, I was a little panicked because I thought I would have to drive 45 mins or longer to get my hair done. I Googled Black hair stylists and Be Kekoa popped up. I panicked a little again (lol) because I saw that she didn't do relaxers. However, my last stylist told me that I didn't need them due to the grade of my hair; a texturizer would be fine. Brandie somewhat agreed but told me that even the texturizer was too much; natural was the way to go. **panicking panicking** I had my last texturizer in July (by my last stylist) of last year and have been chemical free since then. Brandie's haircare products are the shizz!! She really knows what she's doing, she loves what she does; it's obvious that she cares about the health of her clients' hair. I showed her a couple of pictures of what I thought that I wanted, and she handled the rest. I've had long hair all of my life and wanted something short and sassy, and boy, she delivered. Can I just say Brandie is amazing?! She's knowledgeable about caring for curly hair and has such a sweet spirit and personality. I scheduled an appointment to have my hair straightened and Brandie and Audra truly delivered. Prior to seeing Brandie in November 2015, I hadn't had my hair trimmed since April 2015, so I had lost the shape I initially received at another salon. I really appreciate the fact that she took my time to cut curl by curl. The shampoo Audra gave me was awesome (I love getting my scalp scrubbed...I can never seem to do it the way I like). Having a deep condition and steaming was everything my hair needed. It was so soft and moisturized after. Brandie's Be Kekoa products are excellent and her Be Clean is actually my go-to co-wash/detangler when I do my own hair. Brandie expertly straightened my hair, without using too much heat and without making too many passes with the flat iron. The end result was amazing! I was pretty shocked by how much my hair had grown, and seeing it straight (shrinkage can be so deceiving)! All in all, I would go back to Brandie for my hair care needs. Be Kekoa Clairflying Shampoo/Conditioner first time in my life that its performance lasted from the first drop to the very last! Years past purchased (as we all do) that shampoo our Hair Stylist used while being serviced- out come in the Salon (any and all of them) was amazing. Ask what Hair Stylist used, purchased products- 9 out of 10 you are pleased with the results.....but then something happens half way of the bottle. Personally do NOT have the real exact reason why after two weeks or so flattens out, but believe your Hair and Scalp get use to the product . For me back to what it was, limp, dry, looses it uplift......until need of a Color and or Style and hit the Salon again .....here we go again Purchase another brand.....get that two week LOVE this Shampoo kind of feeling only to end up underneath my bathroom vanity....
