If he wasn't able to do all of them then I would have had him come back to finish up and do a couple of other small things that I would add to the list. The original list: 1) Take down the current fixture and put up a new ceiling fan with a remote in the guest room. 2) Tighten up the connectors under the kitchen sink in order to prevent a leak that's been there for a while. 3) Put up the new smoke detectors that I purchased to replace my 12-year-old units. 4) Install two new electrical plates that have USB ports in my kitchen. 5) Fix 2 sticky gates that drag on one side. He started at the sink and took a look underneath. I showed the area that the leak was and the paper that I had placed under it that had been soaked and since dried out. He filled the sink twice and ran the garbage disposal to empty the water out both times. He got up after looking under it again and said there wasn't anything he could do because he couldn't recreate the problem. Okay, so that took 5 minutes and he moved on to the bedroom ceiling fan. He pulled down the original fixture in the guest room and started to put up the new fan with the remote. Over an hour later he came out holding the remote receiver and handed it to me and said "it doesn't work. You'll have to order a new one". He didn't put the old fixture back up, and he left the pieces to both all over the floor and bed then asked me where the new smoke detectors were. I gave him the boxes, he looked them over and said "I can't put these up because they aren't hardwired and if I do, it will void your homeowners insurance". He then moved on to the electrical faceplates with the usb ports in them and took about 20 minutes to install these. We were coming up on the two hour mark and he gathered his things and said that's all I can do today. We agreed that I would only pay him for two hours instead of the minimum of three. I wrote him a check for $160 and he left. My assumption is always that people that do these things for living know more about the tasks than I do. But his behavior in my instincts told me to check on the things that he told me about the receiver and the smoke detectors. Both of those statements turned out to be incorrect, and I had the fan installed by another electrician shortly there after, it works just fine. Also, and just as important, I called my homeowners insurance agent and checked on his statement regarding the smoke detectors. This also turned out to be false as I have an in-home sprinkler system, and even if I did not, the agent told me that it wouldn't matter what kind of smoke detectors I had just as long as I had them installed, and in working condition at all times. Beyond that, the insurance people are fine with whatever I put up, so I also had those installed and tested and all is in working in order As it should be. So my take on this guy and his business is understandably not good. I don't like giving a bad review but for someone who charges $80 an hour my old neighbor down the street who doesn't know that much could probably have done a better job. I guess the moral of the story is, always hire a licensed electrician or plumber, and not a handyman. And, for the things you think a handyman should be able to handle, it's best to get a good reference from someone else first or at least talk to somebody who knows the person you're about to hire. That way you won't be left with more work than you actually started out with.

I finally did - and what a difference! I'm still a work in progress - but together we have been working on decluttering, organizing, and sorting out my garage. (I still have too much stuff, but that happens with a large family.) However, after just a few 3 hour sessions, I can now walk into my garage for something and know where it is. The kids can take their bikes out - and return them to the same place. My husband can find what he needs, I know where my craft supplies are, and this is just the beginning. Laura has taken the time to get to know us and what is important to keep, and what I might be able to let go of, and what I have too much of but keep buying more of! (But I LOVE bags and purses!) Bottom line - don't put it off any longer. You'll be very happy with the results.

Eric (accompanied by his adorable and well-mannered canine Assistant, Hank), paid their second visit to our home today. The first time was to discuss an extensive needs list for a good-sized property. We desired high-quality, all-new door and window hardware (handles and deadbolts) within a very particular range of types & styles throughout the house, as well as specific types of gate, shed and fence locks for pasture and side yards. It has been noted by others over the years that we have--ahem--very exacting standards. Eric was a dream to work with and didn't seem to find us at all picky! He was friendly, patient, obviously an experienced expert, with great ideas and suggestions for hardware which meshed exactly with our needs (but which we had not even known existed. Eric made careful note of our wish list, took measurements, and got back with us promptly as regards type, cost, pros and cons of various fixtures. He then got it all ordered and made an appointment for a return appointment just as soon as a delivery date by his supplier was provided. On Installation Day, to say that we were pleased is an understatement. Our new equipment is attractive, SECURE, of top-notch quality, and fits our design and color theme perfectly. Eric's pricing for locks, bolts, keys, and considerable labor was very reasonable and he took the time to get it all perfectly organized and everything just right. He even spent about 45 minutes adjusting a sliding door which was sticking/at times inoperable without charge (who does this, in this day and age?) simply because he's a conscientious person and a really nice guy. We can't recommend Smith Lock Shop and Eric Bates highly enough, and enthusiastically recommend to all. Modern superb mobile service with expertise and an old-fashioned work ethic.

The price for the labor was fair and reasonable and the install was professional and as planned. Eric also coordinated with my gate fabricator and gave him the specs for the lock so that the lock location was precise. He's a cut above any other locksmith I have had experience with in the past.

I called Apex Auto Glass to describe my issues and they confirmed they did tint homes and made me an appt for an estimate, and worked with my crazy schedule without an issue! I was send confirmation and reminders leading up to the appt which was very helpful. I was also given a window for arrival time that was convenient and reasonable. Anthony called to say he would be arriving in 45 minutes and he was actually early!! (Love this so much) Prior to his arrival I had tried to peel off some of the film and removed TWO LAYERS OF TINT‍ and there was still more layers of tint completely covering the windows. Anthony assured me that removing the tint would be no problem. He was SO KNOWLEDGEABLE and helpful with the situation. We had VERY old auto tint on the windows. He walked me through my options after examining and measuring each window. I was worried and unsure, and so he left me with the two samples he saw working best for my situation-this way hubby could also weigh in when he was home. Anthony was polite, professional, and super nice!! We made the appt right there for removal and installation. As soon as Anthony arrived back to the office he mailed me the estimate, which was extremely reasonable!! Right before the appt I had some trepidation about my choices, and I called the office. Anthony called me right back and talked to me about what results I wanted and how these would work out for me. I am now feeling awesome about the job. Yay! Anthony and Angel arrived right on time, and got right to work. In a nutshell they rocked it!! The windows actually had TWO more layers of window tint that was very old and required a LOT of scraping and patience. Hubby and I were outside working and you can tell that these two enjoyed working together. They're so nice to each other and they made really quick work of the removal and I can tell you it looked like a nightmare to get off. But not a cranky comment from Anthony and Angel!! These guys were amazing!! We learned Angel is the automotive tint expert and if I ever need my car tinted he is definitely my guy!! With Anthonys expertise and experience we were in SUCH GOOD HANDS!! The guys finished and cleaned up absolute every teeny piece of the crummy old tint. I was super impressed!! And it already felt cooler inside the house!! Previously with hot weather we would have the window blinds shut, heavy curtains closed, and the ac cranked. I can confidently say that with hot weather we don't have to close the house up like a tomb. We DON'T EVEN HAVE TO CLOSE THE BLINDS!! The difference is mind blowing!! We are already planning on doing this tint on windows in some other rooms. If you are looking for stellar service, professional work, and knowledgeable technicians, then look no further than Apex. I was a pain in the bootie cuz I didn't know what I needed and Apex came through with everything I needed for this job and we could NOT be happier with the finished work. 10/5 for Apex, and especially Anthony, and Angel!! Knowing that the tint job has a lifetime warranty is just icing on the cake!!
