I highly recommend this authentic Taiwanese restaurant. This is my second visit, and the consistency in food quality is impressive. I especially love the popcorn chicken--it's perfectly textured and tender. The stinky tofu is also incredibly delicious.

It is a neighborhood spot with good comfort food. The restuarnat is clean and very welcoming vibe, they offered free peanuts next to the water pitcher; how cute is that! For lunch, we got the popular beef noodle, and BBQ pork bento. I like the bento presentation and the portion of each items. The BBQ pork was very flavorful, the meat was still tender, the garlic sauce added a little kick to it. The stir-fried veggie, tomato-fried eggs, and stewed tofu made it a balanced meal. I especially like the seasoned pickles.

I came back to try the spicy beef noodle soup and it did not disappoint. Interestingly at BD Cafe, you get your choice of thick, thin, or vermicelli noodles. I like having the flexibility to customize my noodles. I went with thick noodles because that's what my waitress recommended and chose medium spicy. This was a very good spicy beef noodle soup. It comes with a generous amount of tender beef and baby bok choy. The broth tasted clean and had just the right amount of spice. But the star were the thick cut noodles which were al dente and chewy. Every component of the soup was excellent. A bowl will run you about $15 bucks, but I feel like that's the going rate these dates. We also tried the spicy wontons (good as always) and an order of Taiwanese sausage. The raw garlic with the sausage was an unexpectedly good combo. I can't recommend BD Cafe enough.

The spicy beef noodle was absolutely delicious. The noodle was fresh with a chewy texture. The beef was fork tender and very flavorful. The broth packed with five spice and beefy flavor. It looks super spicy but it's not. Washed it all down with a cold tea drink infused with fruit grapefruit. It was so refreshing and they did not skimp on the fresh fruit! We ordered the pork belly rice bowl to go. It was good with lots of rice. The meat is tender and the fat felts in your mouth. The pickled vegetables balanced out the flavors perfectly. Service was friendly and fast. We asked for chili and more picketed veggies and got them right away.

Good taste!! The food is delicious and in line with Taiwanese taste. The price is reasonable and it is worth trying.

I've had a great experience at BD cafe! Servers are friendly, prices were reasonable, and interior was clean. I got takeout, and the service was fast. I enjoyed their milk tea, it was classic like the back in Taiwan. The pork belly was tender, eggs flavorful, and fermented veggies were perfectly sweet. Defenitly recommend!

I have been to BD Cafe a few times over the years! I really enjoy their Taiwanese Minced Pork Belly. They have a version in the bowl for around $10 that comes with rice and a bento box version that comes with rice and 3 veggies (cabbage, seaweed, and cucumber the last time I went) for around $13. It is always delicious! The sauce that comes with the pork belly goes great on rice. Service wise, you can order at the counter or they may take your order for dine in. However, you usually have to go up to the cashier to pay when you're done. Not like a regular dine in where the wait staff brings a check to you. So be prepared to go up if you are trying to leave. Also, there were a few times where the restaurant closed at 3pm and they don't seat you for dine in if you come in around 2:40pm. I think they have more staff now and are open until 7pm but check the door to be sure. It is usually pretty clean in the restaurant. They have a self service water station and peanuts available for people to snack on (beware peanut allergy customers). Overall, good experience!

    Simple inside restaurant.

Home cooking Taiwanese style. The rice vermicelli was moist and comforting. Popcorn chicken was also addictive. The tofu and shrimp was a little plain, but also comfort food. My least favorite was the dry noodle. Lots of young families inside.

milk fish porridge. It's a huge portion with lots of tender de-boned milk fish.

They have since expanded to San Gabriel, Chino Hills, Monrovia. Chino Hills location is the newer one with modern decor, clean and seems to offer more items. It offers plenty of seats. Service is friendly, but they are very shorthanded. The kitchen and counter will have to help clean up. It's around 9am, I ordered iced soy milk which is premade, you just grab from refrigerator. It tastes good, but fairly standard. I think hot is the way to go for fresh ones. And for breakfast I picked salty rice ball with pickled vegetable; for $7.50 this is more traditional type. And more expensive. It's wrapped with soft and warm glutinous rice, crispy chinese donuts, pork floss, preserved mustard greens(extra cost), preserved radish. Taste is more savory. They offer and push for purple rice type, I will try it next time. My suggestions are to install order kiosks at all locations. And have help with cleanup and other tasks of location is busy. I didn't have picture of inside with tables as the tables are still not clean yet except for my tiny table.

Full Flavor at Half Cost!…read more I have yet to experience anything negative from this establishment. Everything from customer service, pricing, portions, and quality has been nothing short of outstanding. Tucked next to the Eastern side of the food hall, you'll find this modest selling spot. I ordered the garlic noodles and the pork belly bao. I wanted something different from their iconic dan dan noodles (try those if you haven't) and boy was I surprised. There isn't seating with them, so you must find a spot in the general area, no problems there. The garlic noodles will have real chopped garlic with a delicious flavoring that will have you satisfied with a stinky breath (not sorry) and the pork belly bao is insanely tender, you'll think you're not even chewing over how soft it is. It's garnished with a mustard topping on a steamed bun. Both of these items were on happy hour and I was fulfilled while not breaking the bank. The owner really does take pride in his work and the quality he produces for us, always happy to support those who bring the passion to the kitchen. YUM

Heads up: Misleading pricing, bad value, and hygiene concerns!…read more I walked into Jojo's Kitchen inside Haven City Market and ordered the House Special, but the total came out to a shocking $21. The posters on the wall only show images of the food. Sneakily, they only list price tags for the small, cheap side items--the actual price for the House Special is completely missing from the posters. You don't find out the real cost until the transaction is complete and it's already too late. The real kicker is that my card statement showed the charge under "DoorDash." They are running their walk-up register through a DoorDash POS system and forcing in-person customers to pay inflated app-delivery prices without warning. They need to put a tag on the register letting people know. If they were transparent, I could have placed a pickup order through my own DoorDash account to use a discount, or just ordered their $6.25 mini bowls separately to save nearly $9. Don't get me wrong, the Taiwanese sausage is actually good, but the popcorn chicken is way too dry and the rice is not good at all. To make matters worse, I paid $21 just to get half an egg! Most places give you a whole egg, and other restaurants would even provide a free drink with a combo at this price point. Getting a half-egg and no drink for a premium price is ridiculous. If you do eat here, I recommend just ordering the small snacks or trying their noodles instead of the main bowls. The owner's attitude itself was okay, but I noticed a major hygiene issue. He was sweating heavily from his forehead while packaging my food. He really needs to wear a sweat-absorbing headband because it looked like sweat could easily drip right into the customer's food. Also, there was a younger guy in the back (maybe the owner's kid or nephew), and when I asked him a question, he walked over in slow motion acting like a gangster and talked to me like he was rapping, just saying, "Yeah." Between the hidden app pricing, the poor value, and the sweat issue, it was a very frustrating experience.

With a large parking lot calming any worries of finding parking, the shop is located at the front of the curb and even easier to spot given the Hanlin sign in black font hovering among the other establishments. The entrance is very open with an IG friendly bench below a neon sign to the right and a shining white counter sitting in front of you. It's easy finding a seat among the chairs that litter the space, especially by an outlet for all your devices. It was honestly surprising to find this almost being a cyber cafe as most other coffee shops, milk tea shops and others because they have a lot more considerations and food options to choose from. Especially being guided by the staff immediately upon the question of, "Have you been here before?" No! I haven't but I appreciated the fact that the service here is all about what is the best, what to expect and how to make the experience as smooth as possible. Thankfully it is easy finding something you'd like within the vast menu. Not to mention you'd also like the fact that everything is priced pretty average compared to most places around the area. It's still surprisingly to me finding a Taiwanese restaurant around this area but that's something that you come for especially price for price and pound for pound when it comes to portion and taste. Speaking of taste! The plum juice with boba was a good balance but lets not forget plum is definitely a certain bittersweet taste profile that isn't often enjoyed.
