When I was out of town my check engine light went on and a local shop there did a quick once over…read more There wasn't anything discernible so he turned off the notification but did tell me that if it were to come on again to have it checked out. A few days later it came back on and I stopped at my dealership to see about setting up a diagnostic test to get to the bottom of it. The dealership wouldn't be able to get me in for over a week and estimated that if it was what they thought it was I would be looking at about $1500 to fix it. I definitely don't have that in savings to throw around so I asked friends and family in the area I live if they knew anyone and two people recommended Newton Auto Care. I called them the next morning and Ken was able to get me in on the Saturday which was just a couple of days later. Again, my car ran quite well and nothing discernible from the diagnostic tests but he did reaffirm what the dealership said could be the issue and that it would cost about $1000. Whew, already $500 less which was a relief. I don't have that much socked away but it's easier to meet that than 1500. Ken turned off the notification, sent me on my way and told me to come back if/when it comes on again. Well a week and a half later that lovely check engine light came on again. I stopped in on my way to the WA for work and Ken was able to squeeze me in the next day (Saturday). In the end it was even less than Ken originally quoted and they stand by their work. Funny enough, the check engine light came on again but looks like it's left over sediment from the fuel injector flush that needs to be worked out but when I called to let Ken know he told me to just come on in and they'd check it out. They know a satisfied and happy customer is likely to come back so while the rates may be lower than a dealership one is not compromising on the work ethic. I will definitely be back. It also helps that I can walk home from there if they need to work on my car for a few hours. Thanks to Ken and Geoff for all their hard work, care and trying to help me understand what's up.

I called ambassador to get a new set of winter tires put on. Everything was going well and the…read moreprice that the individual quoted me was reasonable. However two hours after dropping my car off, I received a call stating that he needed to "tell me something". He stated that he had broken the master key to my locking lug but and as such I would need to drive to the BMW Langley dealership to get all my lug nuts loosened so that he could do the remaining three tires. I was extremely surprised that an establishment after breaking a part, would require the owner to do the leg work to replace the part so that work could be continued. He repeatedly stated that it was "not [his] fault" as the nuts had been tightened too much. My boyfriend drove to numerous places and was unable to find the master key. Ambassador offered me a "replacement car" which had one bar of gas and both the transmission and check engine lights were on. In the meantime, I was able to find another auto repair store where they were equipped and were able to loosen each nut. They charged me $15 a tire to replace all the nuts including the one Ambassador had stripped. I drove the car back to ambassador and stated that it would be fair for him to match the price I had paid for the tires to the $15 install fee he was charging me to put the tires on. Again I was informed that it was not his fault and he wasn't going to compensate me for the hassle. I asked to speak with the owner and informed that I was not asking for discount but rather some fairness for the hassle I had gone through to simply get some winter tires put on. After four hours of running around, I ended doing all the leg work for a part broken by them and did not even get anything in the way of compensation. I would not recommend Ambassador to anyone and hope that they learn better customer service in the future.
