We had just finished day three on the Rocky Mountaineer and pulled into KamLoops for the evening. On the train, which usually leaves very early, you enjoy the day, fabulous first class meals, and plenty of wine. You do not sleep on the train. We pulled into Kamloops and then took a short coach ride to the hotel where our baggage was already waiting and we were handed the keys to our room. We decided to have dinner in the hotel's restaurant. While everything started well, it seemed to take a long time to finally get our food and when we did, my friend's plate which was the same item, apeared to be a seriously larger piece of fish. So much so that I showd the manager who offered me another piece. I was not going to wait. In spite of that everything tasted good. We headed back to our room to rest before the early start and final train ride back to Vancouver. A short trip back and we just rested for the evening. The spacious room was clean with a very comfortable bathroom, walk in shower and comfortable bed. Good WiFi always helps to round out a hotel stay. Parking is $20/night so we parked two blocks away on the street where there as open parking. When asked about other parking options the front desk acted like I was from another planet. Weird. Room was spacious. Typical mid-tier hotel with plenty of room and nothing extra special. For Marriott elite, there is a curious pantry in the top level Near the elevator that is accessed with your room key. It's stocked with snacks, drinks and some prepared foods and options for breakfast in the morning. It was a nice surprise and open 24 hours. We were in and out with little time spent in town. We found the pool and enjoyed to cool water to offset the blistering afternoon heat. They serve food and drinks on the pool level which is nice as well. Within 10 minutes of the tour buses arriving we had 20 people converge in the pool with kids and parents and grand parents looking for something to do.

This was our first stop on our trip to Banff and I'm glad we chose this hotel. We were looking what town to overnight as its our first time in these parts of the woods and took a chance on Prestige in Salmon Arm. Loved it! Our first time staying at a Prestige Resort and we will be checking for them more for our trips. Located on the water, check in was a breeze and has many shops around. Free parking. There's an outdoor hot tub, & an indoor/outdoor pool. As you hang out in the hot tub, there's a birds nest you can just got lost in watching. The gym is nicely sized and has some really nice expensive gym equipment. I met a local in the hot tub and she says the hotel sells memberships to the locals for the hotel amenities. Real cool! The hotel also has bikes for rent, games on the lawn, chairs to sunbathe and a quick walk to the docks. Our room was standard sized with 2 queen beds. It felt clean, and welcoming. I loved the bathroom! Standard room comes with a tub and a shower. Lovely luxury surprise. The beds were really comfortable. There's a mini fridge, coffee maker, ice bucket and microwave. It's a beautiful updated luxury property in a small town surrounded by water and nature.

The staff treats us like family. Premium room is worth it if you do serious cooking. Agreed: groomers are noisy and run all night. (We ask for a relatively quieter room and a village view and we use white noise). Yes, it was built in 1996, but we like the feel of it being older. We're 70+ skiers. We like that one can go right out the ski room door and ski downhill 100'ish to the Sundance lift at 8:30. A short walk across the road under the covered bridge to Morrisey can be great for first tracks when there's new snow. Access is so easy we take a mid day break in the room. You can ski all downhill to the door from the Rambler or Sunrise. (see the map). The highlight for us is the guided tours by the Sun Peaks Hosts. They'll guide you to the best areas, away from the fog, wind, ice, hardpack etc. We love the Sundance and have returned year after year since 2013. Seattle and Bellingham Washington.

We stopped by in October and stayed for only one night. It was off season at the ski resort so we got a room at a great value and it was very quiet. It's a beautiful location and I can imagine how busy it must get during the snow season because it was dead when we were there. Most of the village shops and some of the restaurants were open when we were there. We were able to get dinner at a pizza spot and breakfast, but the village was nearly deserted. The rooms are outdated and old. I did enjoy that the room was huge and big enough for a big family. There was a small kitchenette, a dining table, fireplace, and a TV. The bed was comfortable, very clean and there were no bedbugs. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and engaging she even gave us advice on where to park at.

We had even put in the credit card they demanded to secure the room. When we arrived, one of the woman at the front desk told us, "Cats are not allowed." As if that wasn't insulting enough, they acted as though we should have known this - even after I showed my confirmation document that included a pet. "Oh, that's only for dogs," she insisted, not nicely. "You should have read the hotel policies posted online." I have traveled around the world, and never even thought of looking up a hotel's internal policy statements. A second woman at the desk looked at me sympathetically, clearly embarrassed by her boss' behavior. I tried calling the Best Western helpline. A woman there transferred me to someone calling herself Tiffany, who put me on hold a couple of times. Finally, she came back to tell me the same thing as the front desk, even though she had initially agreed that this sounded outrageous. Naturally, I asked her to give me a good reason to ever trust Best Western again. At this point, I cannot imagine putting any part of a trip in their dishonest hands. The first woman at the reception desk finally made a few calls, upon our insistence, and found us a room at a motel in Sicamous. I did appreciate that gesture and have reviewed the other place; interested travelers can find that on my Yelp page. Meanwhile, Best Western still has their falsely advertised listing online. I just found it and will paste the screenshot below.

Careful as this is a public safety health issue. They were advised of planned power outage but due to greed, neglected to tell their guests that Sunday June 23 will be without power but they will sure take your money. After the water issue our room smelled like sewage, water was brown and front desk staff did not seem to care. I'm disgusted that we allow businesses to conduct themselves like this in this country. This is flat out abusive conduct to treat people like this as long as we can line business owners pocket. Shame on sicamous and British Columbia for lowering your standard over the years. This hotel should be assessed for public safety issues. The day our ministries take lisencing and public safety seriously, we will be safe. Don't pay until you see the room, flush the toilet, run the water, look at and smell the mattress and take a look at window sill sheets and floors. You'll need to open the door for this as the lighten serves the owners. My rating does not exist. This hotel owner is hiding due to his negligence. My true rating comes with many negatives.
