First visit here! It's fairly new in town, so I thought I would check it out. It's located in the…read morecenter across the street from the pool. There is parking in front or on the side. They serve coffee, drinks, and homemade desserts such as cupcakes, custom cakes, brownies, thumbprint cookies, quick-style fudge, chocolate suckers, and a few other sweets and treats. There are several tables inside to sit down and relax while eating too. It's a quaint little place with lots of potential... Now, for my review based on my own personal experience. (If I could give them five stars for honesty alone, I would.) Upon entering, the display was completely empty - nothing inside. As I was later told (here comes the honesty information), Tuesday is the day in which they have very limited product. They bake each Wednesday. If I understood correctly, maybe they bake on Friday too? That, I'm not certain about...but the owner said the best day to visit is on Wednesday. They are fully stocked, and fresh products and multiple flavors abound. While the display was 100 percent empty on the Tuesday that I visited, they did have a few remaining cupcakes leftover at a reduced rate (half-price). Normally, classic cupcakes are $2.00 each, while the specialty flavors are $2.50 each. (Note: Most small, handheld edibles appeared to be a few dollars each as well.) I decided to try a chocolate cupcake with buttercream frosting and chocolate sprinkles for half-price, while the owner offered to frost a fresh red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing for regular price. She did warn me that the freshness would be noticeable, and she was right. She gets major kudos for her honesty! I can only give three stars, though, because the flavor was not that impressive either. That's just my opinion, however. I would only ever purchase anything with cream cheese Icing from here again, definitely not the buttercream icing for me. Feel free to go in for a sweet treat and a cup of coffee. Just go in on a Wednesday or Thursday if you prefer a larger variety that is fresher than the half-price leftovers. I might suggest smaller batches of product per day or every other day rather than 1-2 large batches per week only. Maybe this is just growing pains. I attended a wedding and reception on Oct. 18 where Cakes by Kelli had been contracted to provide…read morethe cake. When I arrived at the reception I noticed there was no cake on the cake table. I thought perhaps there would be a presentation of the cake and it would be brought out at that time. Later the DJ announced there would be the cutting of the cake in a few minutes. Still, no sign of a cake. At around 8:30 pm the bride's mother was alerted there was no cake nor cupcakes. Cakes by Kelli was contacted and Kelli said she could have it delivered by 9:30 and that she had delivery down for the next day. She finally arrived with the cake and cupcakes. The guests carried in the boxes and cake. She didn't even get out of her car! No setting up, no apologies, nothing! The guests setup the cakes and cupcakes. By this time most of the guests had left. When the bride and groom cut into the cake, it was still nearly completely frozen. They had a very hard time cutting it. While the cake was moist. (not the opinion of the rest of my family), it was very dense in texture. The icing was at least an inch thick and completely sugar and shortening! It was over-the-top sweet and horrible! It had no flavor to it except sugar and shortening! The cupcakes were just okay as well. The strawberry one had an imitation strawberry flavor. As Kelli was leaving the venue, the bride's father saw her and went out to talk to her. Her excuse was she had a lot of family things going on earlier in the week and she messed up the date. This was a Friday evening wedding and the bride's mother had stated on each occasion she met with Kelli that this was a Friday wedding and Kelli assured her that it was not a problem because people even get married on Monday's. The bride's father said they would expect a refund. She told him to have his wife contact her on Monday. To make a long story short, the mother contacted her on Monday and she responded that she had to work on numbers. Days letter Kelli responded that she would be refunding the retainer fee of $250 and that she would be contacting the bride. To this date, neither of these have taken place. When the bride tried to contact Kelli on her Facebook website (Cakes by Kelli), she found that Kelli had blocked her and her mom! I will never order anything from Cakes by Kelli. She is unreliable and dishonest. In addition, her cakes just aren't that good!!
