The Magpie team was very professional and our cupcakes turned out beautifully- carrot cake and cream cheese and almond cupcakes. I couldn't leave without grabbing one of their oatmeal cream pies and it was perfection! Bonus: this is located in a really cute neighborhood!

The shop itself is small but mighty. Super kind staff who will give you any info you request. There are candles, plates, cards, and a few local gifts for sale, alongside all of the tasty treats. There are cookies, brownies, cupcakes, single cake and cheesecake slices and full size cheesecakes for sale. My favorites are the oatmeal sammie and the PB cheesecake. I normally avoid sugar cookies but their version with the sanding sugar is too notch! We definitely prefer the storefront, as the items are super fresh and I love that they carry the single servings. Whenever we are downtown for work, this is our stop. When you get something from the Kroger Magpie's selection, it will either be a full size cheesecake or a sampler box of cookies or bars/brownies. It is hit or miss as to how fresh the items are here. This location now refrigerates the sammies, too, which seems to dry them out quickly. Bummer. From either location, we definitely prefer the cheesecakes, pies, and cookies to the actual cake. Either way, support this local gem!

Clearly I was late to the party and the early birds knew what was up. Respect. Did we panic? Absolutely not. We pivoted like seasoned donut professionals and started with two dozen glazed holes. That's right. TWO. DOZEN. Most didn't make it home. "We'll just have one" turned into "wait, how many are left?" Then came the full dozen assortment: *Custard filled - dangerously good *Cream filled - no regrets *Chocolate cake - classic, solid, dependable *Glazed - because you can't not And then... the Strawberry Glazed Let me tell you about that Strawberry Glazed. BAM. Sooooo good. Like, pause-the-conversation good. Like, "why did we only get one?" good. They also have breakfast sandwiches if you're pretending to be responsible. Plenty of seating inside, so you can sit there and question your life choices while eating donut number four. The service was friendly, quick, and didn't judge our order size (at least not out loud). If you live nearby, what are you waiting for? If you don't live nearby, it's worth the drive. Just apparently get there before 9:13 if you want Chocolate Holes. Learn from my mistakes.

I am a big proponent of supporting the local businesses in my community. I was not aware, though, I have a great restaurant right down the street in Jackson Square! I don't know how this place escaped me this long! We went on Friday evening and there was a short wait to be seated. The staff were friendly and the food smelled AMAZING! We were quickly seated in comfortable dining room. There was a live pianist playing in the corner. A lovely touch. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings on the menu. I had the pot roast with augratin potatoes and my beloved had the pork tenderloin with grilled squash and pinto beans. Both entrees were delicious. I must say, I am a big fan of a delicious pork chop or tenderloin chop so I now have a new favorite. I am planning on working my way through the entire menu over the next few weeks, because I have a feeling everything they make is wonderful. I will let you know. I highly recommend Dean's and I would drive a good distance to come eat here...fortunately for me, they are right down the street. See you next week!

They serve coffee, drinks, and homemade desserts such as cupcakes, custom cakes, brownies, thumbprint cookies, quick-style fudge, chocolate suckers, and a few other sweets and treats. There are several tables inside to sit down and relax while eating too. It's a quaint little place with lots of potential... Now, for my review based on my own personal experience. (If I could give them five stars for honesty alone, I would.) Upon entering, the display was completely empty - nothing inside. As I was later told (here comes the honesty information), Tuesday is the day in which they have very limited product. They bake each Wednesday. If I understood correctly, maybe they bake on Friday too? That, I'm not certain about...but the owner said the best day to visit is on Wednesday. They are fully stocked, and fresh products and multiple flavors abound. While the display was 100 percent empty on the Tuesday that I visited, they did have a few remaining cupcakes leftover at a reduced rate (half-price). Normally, classic cupcakes are $2.00 each, while the specialty flavors are $2.50 each. (Note: Most small, handheld edibles appeared to be a few dollars each as well.) I decided to try a chocolate cupcake with buttercream frosting and chocolate sprinkles for half-price, while the owner offered to frost a fresh red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing for regular price. She did warn me that the freshness would be noticeable, and she was right. She gets major kudos for her honesty! I can only give three stars, though, because the flavor was not that impressive either. That's just my opinion, however. I would only ever purchase anything with cream cheese Icing from here again, definitely not the buttercream icing for me. Feel free to go in for a sweet treat and a cup of coffee. Just go in on a Wednesday or Thursday if you prefer a larger variety that is fresher than the half-price leftovers. I might suggest smaller batches of product per day or every other day rather than 1-2 large batches per week only. Maybe this is just growing pains. Best Wishes to this new family-owned business to work through the kinks of just opening!

Spinach Artichoke Dip - This was actually really good! The pita was crunchy on the outside but still fluffy, and the dip was creamy and flavorful. Definitely a good appetizer to share. Half Rack of Ribs - Delicious! The meat came off the bone so smoothly and was really tender. My only complaint was that I couldn't substitute the side dishes. I had to get baked beans, and I HATE beans. Luckily, my boyfriend's meal also came with a side, so he gave me his mashed potatoes and ate the beans--which he said were delicious. The mashed potatoes were lovely, so I was definitely happy with that trade. We came with a HUGE party, and I was really impressed with how smoothly everything went. Everyone received the correct order, and they split the bill without us even having to ask. They had no problem accommodating such a large group, which I really appreciated. Overall, this is a beautiful restaurant with great food and excellent service. We had a really good experience, and we'll definitely be coming back the next time we're in Tennessee!

We were in T-shirts and jeans, so not fancy at all, but while the space itself presented as "fine dining", the vibe was casual and welcoming. We didn't feel out of place at all, and as the after-work crowd started showing up, there was a wide variety of guests. And honestly - after understanding why this place was built- it seems that's exactly how they want it. All welcome. But don't get me wrong - casual dress or not - this place spared no expense! It's a beautiful building, and you have an outstanding view from any seat in the house! The bathrooms are even gorgeous! After exploring all the seating areas, we opted to sit at the bar. Brandon was our mixologist that day, and he was really great! All of our cocktails (The Jade Martini, The Tulip) were well made, and the off-menu cocktails he whipped up were equally as good. Love when they want to get creative. He had good recommendations for food. He was also training someone new and had a great attitude toward them, which was nice to see. Food (Ribs, Pork Chop, Salad, Soup) was all good. I'd get any of them again. And those Boursin mashed potatoes ... addictive. We even tried dessert (Strawberry shortcake). I was hoping for a more delicate, airy shortcake, but overall it was decent, but I'll try something else next time. I felt everything was priced fairly and was comparable to other places in Oak Ridge offering less desirable dishes. So we will be back for sure! I'm excited to know there is 22 miles of hiking trails and pups are welcome on the patio! Sounds like a post-hike win-win there! Plus, they have some live music nights I think we'd like to check out! Overall, super happy this place is here! I hope the next visit is just as good!.
