I own a 16 year old built in DCS BBQ that has seen a lot of use. With both igniters broken and the age of the grill I was convinced I would be replacing the unit which has tripled in price to $3,000. By fluke I saw an add for BBQ Cleaning Guru in a cicular one Saturday morning and decided to call. Ed answered the phone and after a few minutes I knew I found a hidden treasure. I explained the age of the unit, the igniter problems and the fact that I was convinced my grill also needed new burners. Ed explained DCS grills are built well and there was a very slim chance new burners would be required, especially after they clean and re-condition them. They picked up my BBQ two days later on a Monday, re-conditioned it and re-installed it on Friday of that same week, as promised. It not only looks new it operates like its new, for 20% of the cost of a new BBQ that probably would not fit in the existing opening. Met with Ed to assess what was needed to bring a well-used and well-worn out old BBQ Galore grill back to life. And did his team ever deliver on that! The team that brought the grill back and set it up, were the same ones who picked it up for cleaning. The team made sure that all connections were sealed and ensured the grill was operational. Very nice to work with. Why did I choose BBQ Gurus? There are several good and reputable companies that provide onsite cleaning. What I didn't want was the debris scattered around the area afterwards, not mention the water/gunk/stuff that is washed off under and around the grill area. BBQ Gurus takes it their place to clean. What little debris fell off when the grill was carried away was easily swept up. I have used it a few since they delivered it and it performs way better than before. The pictures say it all. I have a 7 year old grill that suffered from neglect and abuse. I have used it at least twice a week since new. Usually very handy, I was not confident in my ability to repair this grill as I couldn't find parts. I called BBQ Guru, described my situation and Ed gave me a pretty close quote over the phone. I took a leap and had them pick up the grill. Four days later they were back with a well restored grill. The pictures on his website are accurate. Ed spent a little time with me reviewing the work. Recommended a cover and told me where to get one and measured my grill while we spoke so I could order the right sized cover immediately (which I did). So, my grill is a 1991 TEC that was not working, had gas leaks and a myriad of problems that may have lead me to catch on fire. I cold called a bunch of places and found Ed. The guy is a first class person. (So seldom do I get to experience this kind of a person, service and firm.) "They", whomever "They" are don't make them any longer. Ed's brother Brad and Tom and Nick do a fantastic job with high end BBQ's only. And they are NICE! This is a first class operation and we could not be more impressed with everyone within this firm. What the writer refers to as "snarky" was my honesty in stating that many cart grills, after extensive use, may not warrant the expense of cleaning. The home I purchased had a built in grill/island - very nice Fire Magic grill - that didn't work. 15 years old. Really bad shape. Pack rat called it home and had chewed thru the igniter wires as well as depositing all sorts of "treasures". It had rusted burners, corroded disperser plates and CRUDDY grates as well as weathered exterior. To replace would have been $3000+ for a newer, poorly made replacement. I called Ed and the estimate he gave was very reasonable - essentially a total rebuild. When the guys brought it back after a week in the shop, it looked brand new !! There was a little glitch in the lighting mechanism from some evidently previous work before I got it but Ed persevered and now it works AND looks like brand new. read more

We purchased a home with an extra large DCS built in grill. The grill had been neglected for many years and needed a complete overhaul. BBQ Cleaning Guru did a fantastic job, and made it look and function like new. The grill was picked up and delivered on time, and the restoration was much less expensive than purchasing a new one. What a nice surprise. I bought a house with a big built in DCS bbq unit that needed renovation. Ed and his crew came in, took the unit to their shop and reinstalled a unit that looked brand new....inside and out! Then the next year, I noticed that in windy conditions the flames don't get too hot. I thought I needed a new regulator. Ed came over, checked things out and said...its all working fine. You just need to block the win a bit. He didn't charge me for the advice, I fabricated a simple wind break, and the unit works fine again.....just in time for the holidays! Thx Ed. Our grill is 13 years and has never been covered, purchased one . BBQ Cleaning Guru picked it up on Monday and returned on Friday so we could grill over the weekend. It looks brand new. To be honest I didn't think it could be back to life but they did a fantastic job on resuscitating it. My wife was the one who wanted it refurbished and I thought it was a waste of money, but I'm glad we did it. As I said it looks like a brand new grill and saved us a lot of money since we now don't have to purchase a new grill and most new grills now are junk. The previous owners did not regularly clean the BBQ. So I contacted Ed and he said a one week turn around--Monday back Friday. The basic service price was reasonable. I told him that there needed to be a lot more than cleaning as the burners etc were not functioning. I had checked with Viking as to cost of the various components so I had an idea what the total outlay might be. Ed came by on Monday checked out what was needed and gave me a price which was in range with what I had previously ascertained. On Friday they returned with a CLEAN and FUNCTIONAL BBQ. Unbelievable. Of all the folks I have had do various work around my house, these were the most professional technicians I have ever encountered. They arrived when scheduled, and immediately set to evaluating my BBQ. It was obvious that they were extremely knowledgeable about the equipment they service but seemed thoroughly well versed about my particular unit. Great experience with this company! When I spoke on the phone with the owner, he actually discouraged me from buying a whole new grill. He said it's usually cheaper to refurbish the existing one. Since our DC grill was 22 years old, I had my doubts. However, we decided to just refurbish it. Let me tell you, it looks amazing! Honestly, like a brand new grill. From reading reviews I can see I am sharing a common story. We bought a 24 year old home with a Fire Magic grill that really looked like it had never been cleaned or serviced. This company is the one to use if your built in grill needs a tune up. Mine was a Viking that was about 10 years old. They came to my home, removed the grill, took it back to their shop, totally cleaned it and replaced any parts that were worn out. Then they reinstalled my grill and tested everything to make sure everything was working properly. Now I have a grill working and looking like a new one. I searched the internet for businesses that could restore 18 year old grill which I suspect had never been cleaned.Only Ed, the owner of Grill Cleaning Guru followed up. My DCS grill was 20 years old and looking pretty sad. Refurbish or replace? BBQCG was responsive and professional. I decided on their restoration option which was about $1000 less than replacement. The turnaround time was less than a week and it looked like new. At 20 years it needed many parts replaced which made it bit costly but I think I'm good for another 20 years. They came and picked t up on Monday and brought it back on Friday. He was right! It look brand new. They were able to do thing I never could have done. Tom&Tony were just great as well.
