We stayed five blocks away from Praça do Comércio and Baía do Peixe was one of the dining places recommended to us by our aparthotel concierge. It was our first night in Lisbon so we decided to go here and take a lovely stroll on Rua Augusta along the way.
Misto do Mar (Sea Mix) - This consisted of grilled items (prawns, turbot, golden bream, and squid), bulhão pato clams, and gambas a l'ajilho. Everything was very fresh and grilled/cooked to perfection. The grilled prawns were the best and I totally enjoyed sucking the flavor out of the heads. The clams were cooked in lemon and garlic while the other prawn dish was sautéed in, you guessed it, garlic. Both provided a great escape from the grilled seafood. This would have been enough for my wife and me to share, but we had to try a couple more dishes.
Sardinhas Assadas (Grilled Sardines) - I've eaten a lot of grilled sardines growing up and these were fantastic. Salted and grilled with the innards, this was like getting transported back to my childhood days in the province.
Polvo a Lagareiro (Roasted Octopus) - We love octopus and we've seen plenty of it being featured in Lisbon travel guide videos so we had to dive right in on our first opportunity! It came out in olive oil and garlic with potatoes and broccoli. So simple, tender, and very delicious!
This was just what the doctor ordered after a long bout with gourmet airplane food. We had some leftovers from the grilled plate which we brought back to the aparthotel. Life is short - have dinner for breakfast! And that was what I did the next morning - still feasting on grilled seafood.... Muito delicioso! read more
