He carefully explained to me what had been wrong. Yuri was a total delight to work with and does fabulous work in a short period of time. And pick-up and delivery as well. It did take a long time to hear back, and a while to get it repaired, but she warned me that it took someone skilled in antique clocks to do it and there aren't that many available. The bad reviews seem from years ago, maybe it's different people or they have changed the way they do business, but I am definitely bringing another clock there. It's a cuckoo clock that someone's bratty kid turned the hands backward on, which you're not supposed to do--only forward--because she wanted to hear it chime. I will comment on that when I take the clock there. What holds it back from a higher review although I was happy with the people and the service was that you do play Russian roulette trying to get them on the phone--it seems they're never there and there is no answering machine--in 2013 no machine?--and the length of time I had to wait. But the clock is indeed fixed and it's hard to get someone to repair a clock over 100 years old.

The pieces were all wonderful, and I know that at least some were artfully restored, so well, in fact, that I even asked the owner about the great condition of most of the things, and she was happy to show me exactly where certain pieces were restored (she seemed to indicate that they are sent off for professional restoration). It's worth noting that I didn't see a piece that was obviously restored, and everything had a great patina. As I told her, if I had the money, I would be a frequent patron!
