Drop by, give him your watch and a double sawbuck, and you walk away in 5 or 10 mins w/ a new leather band installed PLUS broken-in WITH your battery checked for charge while you're not even looking. After I being turned away from Kate Spade (the maker of my watch), and another watch store in the Prudential, I only waited 5-10 minutes for someone in front of me to finish up before reaching the counter. An older man asked what I needed and I told him I needed my watch sized smaller and a new battery for it. Without anymore questions asked (aside from him ensuring the watch was for me for wrist measurement purposes), he was quick to begin the job. I got to watch the entire process which lasted no more than 10-15 minutes and it only cost $25!! Well worth it and will definitely return next time I need watch repairs since I live nearby. read more

I would ha ve never thought that there is watch repair in the middle of prudential. The owner fixed the battery of my 12 year old beautiful Swatch watch, (and I previous went to a Swatch store and they said they need special order for the battery as it is not produced anymore. As with many good "finds", Yelp led me here! My beloved watch was in for service which will take 8 weeks (!!!) so I bought a $20 watch since I just cannot be without one. The battery died after a week, of course, so I did a quick Yelp search and zipped right over to the Pru. This business is the absolute best place to take a watch for repairs....even better than anyplace downtown. These folks have replaced batteries and also a cracked crystal (it cracked from a cold winter's day temperatures!) and have done everything effortlessly. Prices are extremely fair, especially for the outstanding service. The two men (brothers, I believe) who run the place are also really nice guys who are happy to give excellent advice about watches. I notice that they also have a good selection of watches if you need a gift for someone, including yourself. Just recently they fixed my 40-year-old Seiko watch that my parents gave me for my 30th birthday....so thrilled to have it on my wrist again. I wish I could give six stars! read more

Hoai is a gem! I was there all of 3 minutes. I brought him a necklace that contains a working watch as the face. In less time than it would have taken me to even figure out what battery I needed, he quoted me $15, opened up the necklace, removed the battery, placed a new one in it, reset the clock and handed it back to me, good to go. I couldn't believe it. I could have wasted days figure out what battery I needed, ordering on Amazon, cursing myself and scratching my necklace trying to open it, inevitably screwing something up, and breaking a nail. I have gotten watch batteries and band adjustments here in the past, all great. I last got a new battery here for my favorite watch this past summer. It recently started stopping and then running slow and losing time. I brought it in, the guy quickly cleaned it and said the battery was weak, so he replaced it. The next day I realized it was still losing time, so I brought it back and told the (different) guy the issue and that I was there the day before. He asked me to leave it for a few hours. I came back, it was done, he asked what I paid the day before and then said it was fine (I didn't have to pay more). Not realizing if it was really fixed or not, but also knowing that he definitely did work, I insisted on giving him at least some money. Well my watch is, in fact, fixed! I will definitely keep going to them and would definitely recommend! I'm so glad I didn't give up on my favorite watch. I'm so glad they are there (rent can't be cheap, even for a little kiosk) and they are so convenient. read more

Cannot say enough about the watch repair gentleman. I threw my watch in the laundromat by mistake and he got it working again; he dried all the parts and he fixed it, it is working again. He also fixed my watch metal bracelet clasp, it wouldn't lock before and now it does. Fair price too and quick turnaround. read more

This place is good for changing batteries, cleaning and such. However, it is NOT a proper place for automatic watches and more complicated movements. I took an old automatic watch there and asked if they could service it for me. Initial turnaround time was 10 days, but it took over 2 months and multiple trips for them to return it to me. In the end, not only was the watch not serviced, but they broke a piece of the movement and the regulator stopped working. I asked them to fix it, they said ok and had me wait another 3 weeks. In the end, they finally returned the watch to me broken and said they could not find and order the piece they broke with a simple sorry. They asked me to contact the watch company to order a new one, even though they broke it. They said my movement needs manual hand-winding (even though it's automatic) because of the part they broke!! As if that was not enough, they told me I shouldn't swim with the watch anymore (even though it's waterproof) because they couldn't re-seal it. They basically ruined the watch completely. It goes without saying that I didn't pay anything (since they didn't fix anything) but the problem is that they broke the watch (movement & water sealing) and when I asked them to pay for getting it fixed they honestly pretended like they didn't understand what I was saying and kept smiling and saying "thank you, thank you". I thought of filing a police report but then I felt bad for them and just counted my losses and walked away...please trust me and feel free to contact me if you have specific questions. A perfectly well running Swiss watch that just needed to be serviced was completely ruined and cost me a fortune to fix because of them. Now, if you need to clean your watch, take out links, or change a battery, I have no opinion on that. read more

For some reason I've had weirdly bad luck taking my watches to jewelry stores in my neighborhood for battery replacements recently (mostly cheerful aging Russians who are sweet but somehow manage to scratch or improperly reassemble the watch). So, I wasn't quite sure where to turn when I needed a few links removed from the strap of a new watch I'd ordered on-line. It occurred to me that when we used to live in CA, the usual place to go for watch service was a mall kiosk, so one day when I was near the Prudential, I stopped in to see if there was a watch kiosk, and found these guys (on the Hungtington side, I think) In the end, they were friendly and able to do the job just fine. It was a bit expensive ($12 to remove a couple links), but they were patient with the fact that the first attempt left it a bit too large, but removing another link made it a bit too small, so they had to add back in one link. Oddly, they seemed a bit surprised that I wanted to take the spare links that they had just removed with me-- they had to fish around for some sort of little bag to put them in. Usually I thought that watch and jewelry places just had a stack of those little ziploc bags for that kind of thing. Anyway, I suspect that a battery replacement would also be a bit pricey with them, but they seemed competent, so I'll probably stop by again. read more

About a year ago, the back plate of my watch popped off. I was traveling at the time, so I eventually found a jeweler to repair my watch. That jeweler took it to the back shop area and 'repaired' my watch by removing the o-ring and whacking the hell out of it to pop the plate back on. :'( My watch was never the same. I had to be very careful not to wash my hands with it on, or it would show signs of humidity inside. To top it off, the guy charged me $25 for his labor. While traveling again for the holidays, the back plate popped off again. I decided to wait until I returned to Boston, and look around for someone to repair it. I looked around, and hesitated with the options. Finally decided to go with Ocean Time since it's near my home. That was the best decision. An older gentleman was working the kiosk yesterday afternoon. I explained about my watch and the missing o-ring. He looked at it, and asked for $5. He was very gentle with the watch, pulled out his box of o-rings and found a properly fitting one. Put it on with tweezers. Took out his press and found the properly fitting dies to reattach the back plate. He even checked it with a machine and a special lens to verify it was working properly. Overall, it took him less than two minutes to get it fixed. I'm super happy with the results. I washed my hands and the seal is perfect. The little old man that runs this stand is adorable and I love him! Granted, I'm a bit of a schmoozer sometimes and I don't think he understood half of the random chatter I threw his way, but he took it with a smile and I appreciated that. He's a great guy! I had to get my watch resized and get a new battery for it. I've been meaning to do this for literally 1.5 years, and finally remembered to bring my watch with me to the Pru. Since it's a little stand, there wasn't a line when I got there even though it's a busy time at the Pru right now with the holiday season. He looked at my watch, gave me a price ($10 for the resize, $15 for the battery), and then got straight to work when I gave him the okay. It took less than 10 minutes for him to finish everything and even packed up my extra watch links in a little plastic baggy so I wouldn't lose them. Of course this isn't some HUGE perk, but it was a nice little gesture where I would have understood if he just handed them to me without the baggy. It's not a frily, fancy place by any means ya know? Oh, also I give major props to places that accept Discover when you wouldn't think they would...and Ocean Time does, so A++ for that! I'm not sure if he is the only man who works there, but he's a real pal. Just be kind to him and he'll be very kind back. Highly recommended! read more

First, I strongly disagree with one writer's statement that they are rude. I've interacted with two different employees several times and they cannot be more kind and gentle. I recently bought a watch there that I love. In addition to offering suggestions on a good fit with my extraordinarily skinny wrists, they resized the one I chose (e.g. removed links) and placed the removed links in a small plastic ziploc to take with me (also in contrast with what another reviewer wrote). They also gave detailed advice on the extent of waterproofing, etc. Very knowledgeable and helpful. More notably, I took an antique ship's clock there to be fixed. It's been sitting in my house broken for over a year. I'd assumed it would be too difficult to find someone qualified to fix it, as the folks who made the clock some hundred years ago (in Chelsea, MA - the shop is still there) couldn't fix it (or, rather, they charged me for fixing it but it still didn't work when I brought it home). Anyway, I was impressed when purchasing my watch with the knowledge of the salesperson I worked with and thought I'd give it a try. Viola! It's back on my mantle and working beautifully. read more

This is the little kiosk in prudential mall by the windows where you can see the Christian science park. I went here when my watch band broke and I needed a new pin to reconnect it. Less than ten mins and $5 was all it took. Super fast, effective and friendly! Love it. Would go back for sure. Update--have gone back for a battery replacement (needed small screwdriver to remove back and then determine size of battery); this was done in 2 minutes and $7. Still highly recommend! read more

A few years ago, I brought in my Bulova $500+ watch to him, asked to have it cleaned. When I arrived back in 1 hr, my watch was destroyed by chemicals. I asked for an explanation and he tells me: it's not a real stainless steel watch. And I tried to tell him no, it's a real stainless steel BULOVA watch. He refuses to listen and insisted that I pay for the destruction of my watch. I hate to argue with people because it was getting to that point, so I paid and left. To this day, my previously beautiful REAL bulova watch sits in my drawer never being used again. THANK YOU SO MICH FOR DESTROYING MY WATCH and trying to find an excuse for your poor service! P.s. The.worst.place. They rip you off. I wanted to change my strap for my watch, but needed two new springs. I figured, amazon sells them like 20 for $5, but I don't want to wait. So I took the watch to this place (near work). He looked at it, and asked me if I wanted to put them on, I said sure. Then he asked me for $15 after he put them on under 3 seconds. R u kidding me?? This is a perfect little watch repair stand in the Prudential mall. I think it is located near the Duck Tour side close to Club Monaco as a small aisle shop. I needed a pin adjustment for my watch band. I was expecting to pay a few bucks for a replacement pin and go home and repair it myself. The guy working that day (Hieu Duong) not only replaced the pin, but evened out my links so that the watch fit better. For only $5 and 10-15 minutes of time, I have to give him 5 stars! He was careful not to scratch any surface and double-checked the edges to make sure there were no protruding pins. Great job. My watch may still only look like a $15 cheap time piece, but at least now it fits great! read more

I am in agreement with my fellow yelpers regarding the excellent service. I had a great experience here, and will absolutely be going back for any future watch-related needs. Very convenient location, right outside of Club Monaco / Barnes and Noble in the Prudential. I went to Ocean Time after reading the reviews here, and they were spot-on. I needed a replacement battery for one watch, and links taken out of the other. When I got there, he was working on someone else's watch, so after he was through, I approached and was immediately greeted. Within 5 minutes he had the links removed and the watch fitting perfectly, and as soon as he was through with that he started on the battery. He had everything completed in under 15 minutes, if that. 10 bucks to get the links taken out (and he gave me the extra links in a small bag), and 25 bucks for my battery...the battery was more than I expected, but I'm presuming it's because of the type of watch I had. Since the original lasted 5 years, I'm okay with it. I wish I could give 6 stars for someone having no idea that people love their business, and still kicking ass. When I told him that he came very highly recommended, he was pleased, but informed me that he doesn't pay attention to what people say on the internet. read more

I work nearby and needed my Gruen watch battery replaced pronto. I found Ocean Time on Yelp, and it took all of 5 minutes (add 5 more for waiting) to get the job done. The friendly gentleman who replaced my battery also tightened the band clasp, dusted the watch innards, and polished up the exterior. All for $15!! Hands down this beats the uninviting $25 service I get in Brookline. Btw, Ocean Time is one of these freestanding kiosk kind of places and is just outside of Barnes and Noble, closer to the Huntington Ave side of the Prudential Center.
