I started this yelp account to share my disturbing experience at Bayside Commons, where I've lived for the past 4 years. It's my hope that no other residents, current or future, have to go through this. Long story short: I was harassed and followed by Amir, the current HOA president, and his female companion, resulting in an Albany Police Incident Report. To clarify, I don't know personally Amir or his female companion. So I'm not making any personal judgement. What I am stating is I don't feel they should be in ANY position of authority at Bayside Commons, currently or in the future. Here are the details: On Wednesday, 3/1/23, I exited my condo at Bayside Commons. I was taking 2 bags of clothing to the donation bin in the Ranch 99 Market parking lot, located adjacent to Bayside Commons. In order to exit the Bayside property, I walked to the gates on the side of Bayside. When I was near the gates they opened and a car drove in. I exited the open gate and turned right onto Pierce St. As I walked, I noticed a car following me. It appeared to be the car that had just entered Bayside. It then pulled ahead of me into the closest entrance to the Ranch 99 parking lot and stopped, blocking any other car's entrance to the parking lot. I then entered the parking lot and a man exited the car. He asked me if I live at Bayside Commons. I said either, "Why are you asking me?" or "How is that your business?" The man continued asking me the same question and I continued asking why he was asking. Then a woman exited the car, walked over to the man and started pointing at him, saying something to the effect of, "He's the president. He's the president. You have to answer him." The man then took out his phone and pointed it at me. At some point they started saying they were going to call the police, to which I said, "Go ahead." However, they appeared to be becoming increasingly agitated so I decided to disengage from the situation. I exited the parking lot, turned left onto to Pierce and headed to where my boyfriend was in a parked car waiting for me. We had planned to get dinner after I dropped off the donations. As I walked to the car, the woman followed and yelled at me. I got in the car, still with the donation bags and visibly shaken. My boyfriend asked, "What's going on?". I just wanted to get away from them so I said, "Just drive." My boyfriend drove away, but soon after said we were being followed. I turned around and sure enough the man and woman were following us in their car. It was surreal. We didn't know what to do. My boyfriend decided to get on I-80 in an attempt to get away from them. They continued following us for some time but eventually my boyfriend got away from them. We drove back to Albany and went to the police station. We met with a male officer who stated he had received a call from Amir prior to our arrival. The officer explained he had already surmised what had occurred. And us showing up at the station confirmed his assumption that Amir had been mistaken. He relayed that Amir thought I was a thief because I was carrying garbage bags and wearing a plastic glove. The officer had told Amir that was not proof of anything and that was not the way to patrol the property. I agreed with the officer but expressed I didn't feel safe to return to, or even walk around, Bayside. The officer said there was no need for me to feel uncomfortable. He also said he was going to speak sternly with Amir about never doing this again. I am very grateful for the officer's support but sadly I still feel affected by this experience, especially as a woman. That night and the next day, I couldn't eat anything and had nightmares. Even now, I feel uneasy when I walk around Bayside alone and it's not OK. I did nothing wrong and I'm the one left feeling unsafe where I live. My reason for posting this is I don't know of any complaint channels at Bayside other than the HOA Board where Amir is the president. There has been no property manager or security for many months. I write this review to share with people who are currently living in the community or plan to move in the community. I have similar experience as other reviewers who experienced being threatened and harassed by Bayside Commons HOA's president or manager, Amir. He spends all day around the community and tries to catch any violations as possible. He would come up and question you in a sudden even if you don't violate anything. He restricted me on the sizes and weights and quantity of my packages. He threatened to fine me when he saw my kids bringing pool noodles into the swimming pool. He threatened to fine residents if caught walking through the garage gate. He does not allow kids to run around the tennis court. There's no room for negotiation if anything is against his own rules or anything he is not happy with. Despite coming up with a bunch of rules to control the residents of the community, he never complied with rules. I have seen him parking his car in the red line zone near the gym or in front of the community clubhouse many times. I have seen him parking his car at the handicap reserve spot a few times and also he parked his car in the middle of the garage blocking the exit. I was once stalked by him because he wanted to know which unit number I am living in. He does not listen to any opinion if it's not aligned with his own values. Apparently Amir is above the rules in this condominium community. Not only does he want to control people but also he wants to control pets. He demanded DNA samples from all residents' pets. He is specifically not respectful to women and unfriendly to kids. Because he would threaten a woman in front of her kids. I felt like being monitored or supervised in every move in this condominium community. I don't know where I could file a complaint regarding Amir's rudeness and unprofessional behavior. Just be careful with the dishonest general manager of Bayside Commons the Big B , he likes bribes creating new tasks at all times to make extra cash for himself on the side and forget about doing his real job which is maintaining the place and make sure everything are in order and safe , we are renting a place there and love the location and convince but unfortunately the management is about the worst we have seen the place is due for a change a new management to manage the place right since lots of things not functioning properly in the place ,example slow elevators , plus strangers come inside and use the facilities the manager and his staff see it all and no action to fix the problems or stop stranger from trespassing. read more

Bayside Commons is the best managed Condo in Bay Area. My 3 years of renting here has been nothing short of spectacular. All the added renovations and newly finished Basketball Court is fantastic. You have to see some other Condos to be able to appreciate this place. Apparently all done by the new manager, Amir. Forget all the negative comments, these are people who violate the rules and get warning and hence their reactions. You always tend to dislike a police when he hands you a ticket. Well, don't break the rule and no one will bother you. He is actually very helpful with those that respect the rules and the property and are considerate of their neighbors. Update below 03/29/21 Bayside Commons Update , all the old Board members who were all thieves and corrupt in the past up to few days ago, have just been just toppled and replaced by very past thieves The Old Board Members or Members of their household , now very old thieves are back plus they have businesses and licenses like Real Estate, insurance ,sales just name , with connection to corrupt maintenance companies and try being nice and ready to rip-off poor owners in any way they could again ,feel sorry for poor owners plus the old maintenance guy is still there doing his own little business and stealing on the side. I have a friend that lives there and by and large, it's a pretty nice place to live. The amenities are pretty good, and overall, it's in much better shape than 545 and 555 condos down the street. It's pretty well kept and other than some of the the renters there, most people take pride in living there. The condo fees are high...nearly $500, however. If you are looking to buy, you can probably get a pretty good price as some people like my friend paid over $500,000 during the boom..and those looking to sell are pricing low. read more

Don't live there. There's a mentally ill person who thinks he's the keeper/ruler of this place. I think he's the manger or president at the moment. This used to be a great place and still has potential. But, A Despotic Board run by a Narcissist has destroyed this community. NO General Manager, NO regular maintenance staff. NO open office hours. NO regular maintenance (Front Gate has been out of order for months). The current Board is bringing property values down. I would discourage anyone from buying here. read more

The president of the HOA is a clown who harasses people who not only live here, but also walk around the area. They also seem to like reporting negative reviews and having them removed. Just go into the 'not recommended' section and you'll see the entire story of this clown show. read more
