Not a safe haulout spot for old wooden boats. And a very expensive paint job. Crew was unable to address important issues, like inspecting and repacking a few seams, or identifying any potential problems. And truth be told the boat did nothing but leak seriously, when she returned to home marina. The bilges were not filling up with water before the haulout. There was no effort by them to help remedy the situation either. None. I honestly feel like Bayside Boatworks took advantage of me. Live and learn. Never again. read more

I have a 38 Foot Twin Engine Express Cruiser which means I require quite a bit more up-keep than the sailboats in the bay do... Having said this, I have not had much luck finding honest, resonably priced boat yards that actually do great work and stand behind their work, UNTIL NOW. Mike, the owner of Bayside Boatworks has been a pleasure to work with. He has been more than accomodating in showing me every step of the process, (Bottom job, raw water intake system service, new sea-strainers, GelCoat colorsand, polish & wax) letting me make adjustments to the original work order/estimate throughout the experience and even RE-HAULING my boat at no charge cause I wasn't totally happy with one of the work items. He's a class act and though not the cheapest around, I definitely got the sense that I was getting a better deal than other places just simply by his honestly in what I should and shouldn't pay to get done. We pretty much backed into using this yard as the place we had an appt to haul out could not accomodate us after all so we went here instead the next day. We had sticker shock on the price quote but quickly found (by asking our friends at our marina) that unless we wanted to take our boat to Pittsburgh, that was the going rate in the area for what we were having done. Some other odds and ends were needed as long as the boat was out of the water and they were reasonably priced. We spoke with Mike several times through out the process, both us calling him or him calling us. My husband described Mike as one of the nicest poeple he had ever met. I spoke with Sal in the office twice to pay the original estimate and to pay a little more for the extra work and found him quite pleasant as well, though I would agree that he had no idea what was up with the boat. You have to call Mike for that. The job was finished on time and they were EXTREMELY accomodating with letting us visit the boat after hours and letting us stay in one of their slips for one night with no additional charge. We would go back. If you have a boat you probably already know that dealing with a boatyard can be challenging and I found this better than most I have dealt with in seven years boating on the bay. read more

At any one time, in any of the boats hauled, from the ferry boats to the wood classics from the 1920s, Mike knows what is needed and at what stage the work is progressing on every boat. His is not a job where a little mistake does not make any difference, his job is to make sure your boat does not sink and the work is done properly, no small feat when the water is trying to sink the boat every second of the day. I needed to prepare a former lake boat for salt water. It would require an epoxy barrier coat and anti-fouling paint on both the boat and the outdrive. I also wanted to add a fresh water purge system to flush motor and outdrive after salt water use. I contacted several boat yards that informed me there would be a hauling charge, a daily yard use charge, labor charges, and material charges. I began to question whether they would also charge for my breathing. I then received a suggestion to try Bayside Boat Works, a marina I never know existed. I walked in and met Mike Linder the owner. I told him what I wanted and he answered with a single number that included everything. When I agreed he offered to pick up my boat in Loch Lomond as I did not own a tow vehicle strong enough. Mike picked up the boat, had the work done with high quality and professionalism and then allowed me to use the facility and amenities for another week. He even offered the free use of a slip. Other boat yards made me feel like an intruder trespassing on their premises. Mike makes you feel like a member of the family. I can very highly recommend Bayside Boat Works where you will be treated like a client should be treated. Quality work, fair prices, and no nickel and diming. Mike & Dan at Bayside Boatworks went out of their way to help me on a boat window repair estimate during a tricky moment of a deal on a boat that looks like it needs a fair amount of work. They spent time talking with me on the phone, looked over some pictures I sent & went to the boat and worked up an estimate- all on the same day I called- since I was in a time crunch. After there was a difference of opinion with the seller, they even agreed to go back the next day & water test the windows. We took our 41ft Beneteau sailboat to Bayside Boatworks for the 1st time for a boat paint job and some other minor work. All the work was done right before we left the yard, and we were very happy with the final results. They may take a little longer than the large boatyards but the prices are right, and so are the results. read more

Unfortunately I agree with Dejan D. I paid bunch of money, about 35k, many things were not done right. They didn't fix stuff. They did half assed job. It is not pleasant for me to give small/family owned businesses negative reviews but it's also fair that people should know what others experienced. We work hard for our money too to pay these people. They put small wood pieces in a wrong way where the keels sit after hauling our boat and the bottoms were damaged. We pointed out and they fixed them but come on, how many boats do they haul out? Not enough to know how to put supports for the keels? Paid them to fix the hart tender system. Had total 8 tanks, 3 were not working before, they only fixed 1. Paid to replace the boat stripes. They did crappy job taking off the stripes. Still had sticky residual that collected dusts. They didn't even put the replacement. They did charge for it. I was too busy to check their work. I travel a lot and I only had 2 hours of window to pick up the boat (after the yard closed) and moved to my marina. I just sucked it up and looked for another yard to do the job right. I took my boat here because they were the only yard that can haul my boat around the bay area besides Napa Marine, which is too far. After calling on and off for about several months about when they have time to haul my boat and had no answers, they called one day out of blue and said they can haul my boat tomorrow. Ok... that's soon but I guess I will make it work. Hey, how much is it going to be? Took a couple of days for me to get a quote. As soon as they sent me the quote, they wanted to know in less than 10 hours if I can bring the boat saying they are doing me a favor because they only have 1 week of slot. I am so busy traveling, I haven't even had a chance to see the quote and they wanted to know right then and there after me reaching out to them for several months. After I made it clear that they are not doing me any favor, we don't even know each, this will be a business transaction, they calmed down a bit. But the quality of work, I am not happy about it. read more
